a sign for a seafood restaurant

Food is fair. Mild sauce is exactly that - mild. The seafood, potatoes, and corn are seasoned well. I would have liked a little more sauce in the basket we ordered though (as in, for the food to have been immersed in the sauce lol). They also serve non-seafood; friend whose stomach is not great with seafood had the fried basket combo, which has chicken tenders and fried catfish (no issues with this!), and he was satisfied with it. The nautical decor is cute and service is decent.

Nope. This place sits where the old ihop was on city line many moons ago. The portions are small. Catfish (2) is literally 2x2" piece and squishy. I had pick up so maybe crispier when fresh but size was small. The shrimp, eh en. More salt seasoned than anything else. Not flavorful at all. Hush puppies were just OK. The crab cake was solid but nothing I'm running back for at that price... you can get better somewhere else... even Whole Foods is cheaper with better filling. Eh en. Nope.

Really good! Came all the way here from Northeast Philly and it was absolutely worth it! I recommend The Boom sauce which is a blend of all sauce flavors for your steam bags. The prices aren't terrible, after all it's seafood. Will be returning again soon.

I don't often eat a $30 lunch unless there is more than one shot of Irish whiskey involved, but crab is not cheap. If you ever find cheap crab, it won't be GOOD crab, so be prepared to shell out some dough. I went with the King because .. well .. if you're going to eat crab ... It was sweet and mild, and had no hint of freezer burn or anything that can make expensive crab unpleasant. So you get what you pay for. This place is about a week old, so I guess this is still a "soft" opening. It is apparently Asian-run which is good, because Asians know from food. The seasonings (I went with the suggested combination of all) were spot on. Spicy (from the Cajun) but also buttery and garlicky. JUST hot enough not to overpower. If you're looking for a green vegetable, I think the closest you'll get is cole slaw. The corn on the cob was, as expected, water logged, but the two red bliss potatoes were perfectly creamy. I'd never seen seafood served like this - tied up in a plastic bag.. It DOES keep the food hot and moist. Probbly designed for takeout, but I guess it makes cleanup at the table much easier. You're given an apron and surgical gloves. Personally, I like to be a little more tactile, and I think slippery gloves would have caused several crab accidents. I'd really rather see wet naps at the end... or a finger bowl or something. Food came VERY quickly. Come to think of it, it hunk of crusty bread would have been great to sop up the savory broth (of which a ton was left over.) I guess they'll learn as they go. Anyway, beats crap out of bad pancake houses. Right smack next door to the liquor store, so BYOB will be very easy.

Mussels and snow crabs

Not going to lie, I left here with my stomach not feeling that great and like I'm going to pay for eating here later. Overall everything was just "meh". Nothing to make me want to return. The portions were ok. But the food was not flavorful. I got snow crabs and mussels in the boom sauce and it just taste like butter with minimal seasoning. The seasoning didn't coat the mussels or crabs so there was basically no flavor. I will say the decor was nice and clean. Also, the size of the broccoli and potato that you get for just $1.00 was nice. If you want a good seafood boil...I'd recommend going elsewhere but if you're ok with mediocracy , this is the place for you.

Average... seafood bags are skimpy, had to order a second bag because I only received 1 & 1/2 crab legs, the "boom" seasoning was not spicy and not very "boomy". I guess it is convenient for the area and that's about it. Pros: restaurant is clean, server was attentive and friendly.

This was about $35 and it's enough to fill one person. They have largest packages for families.

Soooo, I had no idea this was right up the street. Craving sea food boil so I looked on my maps to see all the ones close by that delivered. There's one walking distance from my house but I don't really like it. This was a pleasant surprise. The seafood was fresh and they did not over cook the shrimp and the broccoli. It's little things like this that determines where I get my seafood. I mean fresh, and the food was still hot, didn't feel like I would suffer from food poisoning the next day. Delivery through grub hub was also pretty fast. Can't wait to try them again.

Elements other than food factor in to one's assessment of a restaurant…read more This restaurant is LOUD, particularly the main dining room. We were seated in the secondary room which quickly filled, and was just as loud. Conversation was difficult. Terrible acoustics. Pescatore is popular. I get it. Management wants to accommodate as many people as possible. As such, seating is tight and tables-for-two are postage sized. I can't deny that our meals were good. You can get vegetables as a side rather than mashed potatoes, but there's an upcharge. (I'm guessing they go with potatoes because they can make a batch and quickly ladle it out. Spaghetti -- my preference -- would likely have to be made-to-order. And as I said, the place is busy.) My husband and I shared a house salad which we topped with "fritto misto" - calamari, shrimp and peppers. Very good! He ordered Veal Saltimbocca and I, Chicken Romano. Both recommended, both with portions big enough for another meal. The staff is solicitous and friendly. Everything came out on a timely basis. We like what we ate. We appreciate BYOB. But that noise! I'll give 'em another try on a weeknight. But if it's no better -- arrivederci, Pescatore!

Great new value-priced authentic Chinese food option in Manayunk!…read moreThere's a little bit of everything here, but a sampler suggests they do it all well, from Hong Kong to Sichuan, from dumplings to soups to seafood and vegetables. Everything we tried was spot on. Prices are reasonable but this is not average American-Chinese food. Lots for vegetarians. Fish fillet Szechuan Style was an unexpected delight -- almost a soup, packed with delicate flounder and a ma la slice that they'll adjust to your liking. String Beans could not have been cooked more perfectly. And all of the dumplings we tried were worthy. I look forward to exploring the menu more.

I hope that in a few weeks I can come back and give an updated 5 star review, but for now my suggestions is do take-out only. My partner and I sat down and ordered through a QR code. We got a few dishes and both got a specialty drink. We could see they were very busy with take-out orders, so were ready to wait a bit for our food and drinks. After an hour of waiting, we still had no water, no drinks, no food, no plates, no napkins, nothing. The line for take out was so long that guests were waiting right up against our table for the entire evening, which made the night feel crowded and awkward. The dishes were extremely scattered to come out. Our first dish of pumpkin buns only came out with two when the menu said we would have four. The server dropped it and ran off so fast we didn't even have a chance to bring it up. We didn't see her again until 30 minutes later when she brought our scallion pancakes, which she also quickly put on the table and had to run back to the take-out counter. Over all, it took an hour and a half to get all our food (pumpkin buns, scallion pancakes, veggie dumplings, and a tofu dish). We also had to get up and ask the server for water. She was just so busy that she only ever came around to our table to drop off food, so we never got water to start or once the food was brought to us. By the time we had finished eating we had been there for 2 hours and were READY to leave. The place was packed with take out orders the entire time and we were upset to have spent a date night in a cramped dinging area with our table being butt-height to all the guests waiting for their food. We had to get up again to flag down the server to get our check and make sure she took off the drinks that we never received. And for the icing on the cake, the take out containers we were given were dirty. So we had to flag her down AGAIN to get a clean one. I feel terrible leaving such a negative review for a new business. The food was so good, but it felt like a wasted evening sitting there all night. If you are craving dim sum I'd recommend ordering take out, but wait at least an hour after you place the order to even leave your house to get it. Some people were waiting for their food to go just as long as we were.

The good: Usually a good variety of sizes so you can choose what fits your budget. This is important because 1) I don't always have JUMBO crab money lol and 2) there are some places in town that only offer a pan of crabs in one size at one price. He also lets you order by the half dozen. Again, important because it's your choice. Seasoning is good and cooked well. I don't think I've ever gotten a mushy crab from him. I can't say the same of some others. Constructive criticism: After dealing with BSC for many years until they closed down, I was accustomed to a certain quality and presentation for sautéed crabs. If I'm paying extra to have them cleaned I don't expect the apron attached and damn near all the gills still in tact. Please take all of that off otherwise all you've done is pop the shell. The crabs were thrown in the container willy nilly and I found that the sheet of paper on the bottom absorbed some of the butter and tore up as I was eating but again, they were a good size, cooked well, and tasted good. Still a fan.
