Went for x-rays. Staff was very nice, but after taking me back and doing most of the views my Dr had ordered, the tech told me "they" couldn't do the last one at this location and I'd have to go to the White Oak location for it. White Oak is bigger and the waiting room was full of people. When I got seen, I learned that the only additional x-ray I needed was just a slight tilt of my leg, and that the issue was that the tech at Lockwood just didn't know what it was (the name of the position). It was so basic! Very frustrating that I had to go to this extra effort and take additional time for something so simple. Not bad. I like they deliver the results to you as well as your doctor. They in fact first discovered a rare cancer in an MRI. I would say a major complaint is they would insist on a copayment before service and when I had Medicare as secondary due to being a dependent of a disabled adult while younger they would incorrectly charge a copay when they shouldn't have. The first time I did got a refund back and kept getting the runaround. In the future I got checks back. read more

The building located off the intersection of US-29 Columbia Pike and Lockwood Road. There were many free parking spots. Arrived 25 minutes early for MRI, but had to check in at Suite 120. I was then directed to Suite 170 around corners for waiting. Ten minutes earlier than my appointment time, was called in to put outdoor clothes into a locker. Brought the locker key to the MRI room. The staff was very kind and patient. The exam was completed in about half hours. Received the images disc after about five minutes wait. read more

I had a 9:00 am mammogram appt today at the White Oak facility. At 9:40, after I had undressed, I was still waiting. One of the radiologists I asked said "the mammogram department is way behind schedule - didn't they tell you?" The front desk had not warned me. This is unacceptable lack of customer care. disgusting place to go. There are 2 rooms that do MRI and they bounce you between rooms. Not a healthy environment to go to sit 1 1/2 hours with your head in a cage in a tight confined metal tube to begin with. Sitting today in a waiting room with a woman on her cell phone. Shes loud, the desk attendant has told her no phones, she keep going, they do nothing. absolute insanity. Never go here. read more

I was at Community Radiology this past week for an MRI. While the building is perfectly fine and the parking is great, the office of Community Radiology is miserable! It's decidedly unattractive with badly placed uncomfortable chairs (especially if you are left waiting for 50 min before they take you in), is poorly kept, and has a reception area that is a giant mess (can't they at least try to hide the cord spaghetti against the back wall?). I did not see any other patients leave during my time there which was strange as one would think that my long wait was due to a busy day. Once taken into the dressing room, I again sat for 10 minutes (it took me 60 seconds to get myself ready for the MRI) in a miserable room. The MRI experience: I was given these miserable ear plugs, was offered a blanket (that was the only kind/thoughtful moment), but had to ask for an extra pillow. Not a word from the tech throughout the procedure. I have had MRIs in the past - at a different facility - where the staff was attuned to patient needs - and where one is given a headset, asked which radio station they want to listen to, and every so often are informed via a speaker how much time is left. That other facility is clean, beautifully appointed with very gracious reception staff, and I've never waited more than 20 min for a previously scheduled appointment. No doubt the insurance companies are paying the same amount for my MRI be it in Silver Spring or upscale Friendship Heights. Clearly there is nothing "community" about Community Radiology; this is a disgrace and the owners need to put some effort into improving patient care. Next time I need Radiology services I'll spend the extra 15 min driving to a decent facility. read more

I went for an MRI of my hand today at CRA on Lockwood Drive in Silver Spring, MD. They forget to call me so my appt ended up being 1 1/2 hrs after it was scheduled. They were barely aapologectic. The CRA technician botched my arm. The whole experience was painful and barely tolerable. Their equipment is antiquated and the whole experience was unpleasant. I would nit recommend this placentomanyone. They gave me foam earplugs and a baster top to squeeze if I panicked....no joke. Will send pics as well. No magazines and no cell service in waiting room. read more

It was very clean, and everyone I dealt with were very friendly !! I was there for an MRI. There were a lot of people who came in after me for x-rays, and they were dealt with very promptly. They never mentioned patient has to come 30 minutes earlier to fill out information, not during appointment and not during appointment confirmation. I'm assuming the place I went to was CRA rebranded. Silver Spring Radiology, at 10801 Lockwood Drive, Ste 170, was awful. Staff was slow on the phone, took my info 4 times, and did not disclose that they only had an open MRI until I was about to go in! The doctor tried to persuade me to use it against my orthopedist's advisement. Plus they ran 45 minutes late. Run away. read more

These guys completely misrepresented the fee they would charge when I called in advance to confirm what it would cost. Avoid them.

I have visited this location on 2 occasions for MRI and I had a couple of serious concerns. Of highest concern is that the radiologist did not read the images correctly. At the second MRI the radiology report stated there was no prior study for comparison ,even though my previous MRI was right there in their system . When I called about this mistake, they retracted the original report and then a week later issued a new report which was still incorrect. Secondly , they are double billing patients . They demand full payment on the day of the MRI and then they also bill the insurance company. I called to inform them I had been overbilled by $400. I waited on hold for 90 minutes before someone finally answered and stated they will send my $400 refund by mail in 3 weeks . This is a very unethical billing practice . The reason I gave 2 stars instead of 1 is that the technician who performed my MRI was very nice and friendly . read more

My mother comes here for her annual mammograms and there is always a wait but we understand and because it's close we deal with the waiting. I decided to schedule an Ultrasound here because of the location. When the receptionist called to confirm my appointment we discussed the arrival time and that my insurance would cover. To my surprise, I arrived and was charged over a $150 fee that would be applied to my deductible and was required to pay before getting my diagnostic testing done. I work in the medical field so I understood the concept, however, as the patient, I should have been informed prior to my appointment and not in the waiting area where the entire conversation can be heard. I was frustrated and had waited weeks for this appointment so I paid. Oh and the lady who did not ultrasound was NOT friendly and very rough. The third and final straw was last week. My mother scheduled her appointment for a diagnostic mammogram and Ultrasound of her breast due to bump and pain in the breast. We are told all she needed to do prior to her appointment was to send the referral and her insurance card. Done, no problem. We arrive and I am told I have to leave due to COVID-19. I completely understand; no problem. I left. A few minutes after my mother called upset that the woman checking her in told her she could not be seen because she had two referrals; one for a Left breast mammogram and the other for a right breast diagnostic mammogram and ultrasound. I immediately called the number listed on the website and am reassured that since her referral only reads left breast mammogram they cannot do the regular annual mammogram (it has to be bilateral and needs to read left and right breast) BUT the diagnostic testing on the right breast can be done. I go back and inform the check-in receptionist who informs us that since my mother had not had an annual mammogram since 2019 that she was required PER their office protocol to have the annual mammogram before the diagnostic mammogram and ultrasound because they needed the images to compare. If this is the case the patient should be notified when scheduling the appointment so that the necessary measures could have been taken. Instead, patients are not made aware until they arrive at their appointments. We all know that everything during the pandemic is that much harder to accomplish. Now, we are back at square one and waiting on an updated referral to see ANOTHER facility because we will NEVER come back to this location. CRA of White Oak is not sensitive to patient's situations, unprofessional, and unreliable. read more

I just had a very disturbing experience with Community Radiology; I called the White Oak number to schedule an MRI Without Contrast as prescribed by my doctor, which took me to a central scheduling number where I made the appointment. I was called back a few minutes later and told that "We can't do an MRI for [your diagnosis] without contrast and we called your doctor and was told he wants us to use contrast." I knew that wasn't true so I cancelled the appointment and called my doctor back; he was horrified that they would've altered the order and stated they had to use contrast and that they'd lied about calling him to confirm the order and he implored me not to use Community Radiology. I called the customer service number from Community Radiology's website to report this incident and was routed to the same scheduling number. After a very long wait, while the manager "is listening to your call now, " I was connected to the "manager" who said she would "educate" the scheduler. I hate to think what may have happened if I'd kept that appointment and been given contrast. I will definitely go elsewhere for my radiology exams in the future. I honestly don't believe this company deserves even one star but no stars isn't an option. read more

Today was my first time ever having to go to any radiologist and they made me feel so comfortable. The tech that handled me was so nice, she held a conversation with me the entire time and even told me that I had a beautiful liver! The service here was absolutely amazing. read more
