We booked a class on the website and the class was canceled the next day, because the chef did not have availability for the day, and was not able to accommodate us for a whole two weeks. We were only in town for a few days, so this did not work for us. We requested a refund, and they told us 1 to 2 business days. The refund did not come in one to two business days and we contacted them again and then they told us that it was going to be 3 to 5 days and then we had to contact our bank to get the pending charge of $200 off of our account. Our bank says that they were still holding onto her money and could not do anything about the pending charge. This honestly feels like we were scammed out of over $200 and we are very frustrated and still have not received a refund. The customer service people that we spoke with, were all very rude, and especially since the class was canceled on us, we believe that we should have been refunded immediately. read more

I was given a gift card as an engagement gift to cover a private chef making us a meal in our home. The first chef we booked was out of the country and had to cancel. In hopes to book another event, we learned cozy meal has cranked up their costs while still labeling lower costs on their advertisements. So much so, our $250 giftcard can no longer cover the gift it was intended for. For example every ad for a private chef still states $119 per person at the top in bold, highlighted in yellow & yet not one is available at this price. In calling customer service, I'm told that's because they range up to $150. I said if it's "a range" please show me any one private chef for $119 per person on any date at any time. She could not. When I tracked down the address of the class I contacted the business and they said they had no affiliation with Cozymeal, apparently they book on your behalf and tack on additional fees. We rarely write reviews, but feel compelled to do so due to the public health importance of the situation described below. We would have given zero stars if that rating was available as we were unable to enjoy the experience we purchased because of a failure by the chef and Cozymeal to take adequate measures to ensure COVID safety or information for our class. Our daughter bought us a wonderful Father's day gift certificate from Cozymeal, which we decided to book on a weekend away. Given the increasing frequency of COVID variants, their ease of transmission, and the lack of information on how easy it is for unvaccinated individuals to spread the Delta Variant to masked vaccinated Seniors, we decided we better find out about the vaccination status of the Chef we had chosen. We were stunned to learn that he was not only UNVACCINATED, but also that he would not be wearing a mask, ostensibly due to a medical condition. Had we been informed, IN ADVANCE, of this Chef's vaccination status and inability to mask, we never would have signed up. We want to make clear that WE NEEDED TO ASK THE CHEF DIRECTLY to find out this information. (Cozymeal told us later this was due to HIPAA regulations.) Once we advised Cozymeal that we would not be attending due to our health concerns, we were told that we could have seen this information had we looked at the icons on the Chefs information. Honestly, we never saw any instructions explaining this, and we did not see any icons. Once the Cozymeal person then sent us an example, we saw that there are small, very hard to decipher icons at the bottom of the picture. Not even our 31yo daughter found this as obvious or easy to understand as this information should be. In a PANDEMIC, this critical information cannot be left to interpretation or assumed to be understood when presented as Cozymeal has chosen to do. At minimum, Cozymeal should have made it Obvious that this Chef would not be masked and that anyone concerned about vaccination status should directly contact the Chef well in advance of the 48h cancellation window to address any doubts or concerns. It is worth noting that both my wife and I are medical professionals. We also know many COVID experts and contacted them to obtain their opinions. We were told that there are VERY few medical conditions that would prevent a person from wearing a mask, and with the current increasing incidence of very infectious easily spread variants, such individuals should be the ones at the front of the line to get vaccinated unless there is a strong medical reason that they should not. To quote one of these experts "The chef's behavior is neither rational nor considerate. The CDC would not condone his approach." Our message is clear and simple: Potential Clients: ASK THE CHEF directly if (s)he is vaccinated, whether everyone will be masked, whether the class will be inside or outside. Then, decide if you are comfortable with the arrangements. Cozymeal: Please change your policies and have the COVID-safety information displayed prominently for each class. Don't make people search for it. Perhaps then you will deserve more stars for considering the health of your clients as being as important as the cooking experience. read more

I just took the Asian Food Favorites class. This was the flattest recipes I have ever had in a cooking class. I have taken many classes (20 +) from a lot of different business. Cocusocial, Sur La Table, Hipcooks, Great News. This was the most expensive online class I have taken. There were 3 students besides myself. I am so incredibly disappointed. I was hoping to learn something about Asian cooking. Specifically Japanese, which is what prompted me to go to a new cooking school. Cozymeal has a large selection of Asian classes specifically. My husband gifted me the Thai Cuisine Fundamentals class for our anniversary and we had such a great time! Before our class, Chef Jordan reached out about any food allergies and was kind enough to cater to my wheat and dairy restriction. Upon arriving at his beautiful home, Chef Jordan greeted us with a friendly smile and took us over to his kitchen where he had all of the ingredients displayed. He asked us what type of music we liked and I love listening to "French Cafe" songs while I cook so he turned it on for a relaxing mood. We made three dishes: Tom Kha Gai Soup, Thai Coconut Yellow Chicken Curry and Fresh Spring Rolls with a yummy Thai Peanut Sauce! Using fresh ingredients and cooking from scratch was so fun to make and eating it was so much better. You could really taste how fresh the ingredients were. Everything was loaded with flavor and pretty healthy, too! Chef Jordan did a great job teaching us knife skills and walking us through each recipe. One of the best things about the class was that we were able to eat A LOT! We made so much food that we were able to get second (even 3rd) helpings as well as pack some for the road. We brought a yummy Sauvignon Blanc with citrus notes that he recommended would pair well with the meal and it tasted great! He also took us on a mini tour of his garden to pick out fresh herbs for our spring rolls. Chef Jordan was very organized, friendly and professional and made good conversation throughout. Since it was just me and my husband, it was a very nice and intimate experience. He gave us the recipes to take home along with some grapefruit and passion fruit from his yard! We really enjoyed our time learning how to make this yummy 3-course meal. The next time we decide to do this again, I'd love to invite a bigger group with us to enjoy this fun experience! I was looking for a cooking class to change things up for date night with my wife when I stumbled on Cozymeal. The site was very easy to browse and within no time I found a yummy Vegetarian Southwestern meal with Chef Todd. I booked a dinner and right from the start Chef Todd showed incredible attention to our needs. My wife and I both love flavor, but I love flavor AND heat with my meals. I told this to Chef Todd and he made subtle adjustments to the menu to accommodate our tastes. He also made arrangements to have his family's dog elsewhere during our visit because my wife is allergic to dogs. His thoughtfulness was much appreciated. The evening of the meal was just wonderful. Chef Todd's home was lovely, warm and open. It's been hot in San Diego, so he had some cold soft drinks waiting for us (thank you!). Chef Todd has a wealth of culinary knowledge and he loves sharing it with people. My wife and I must have asked him a hundred questions, and he answered every one of them! We learned about knives, preparing salsas, and how spices can give more flavor to meals depending on when you add them to heat. The food was very tasty, especially one of the spicy salsas that went with one of the best quesadillas I've ever had in my life. The vegetarian chili was soooooo good! We joined Chef Jordan in his beautiful home kitchen, handcrafting a three-course authentic Italian meal from start to finish. We brought a bottle of wine to sip on while cooking (Italian red, of course!) and was delighted to be led on a journey through some simple yet awe-inspiring Italian classics -- including fresh, homemade pasta. We began with a refreshing Caprese salad laden with juicy heirloom tomatoes, fresh mozzarella and basil, and drizzled with a house-made balsamic reduction. Lemon and orange from the Chef's home garden accented the plate. As Chef Jordan shares "you eat first with your eyes" and we learned to make a beautiful lemon twirl to garnish. Our time with Chef Andrew was an amazing experience. We cooked and had dinner in his home which was extremely hospitable. We had never done anything like this before so this was very unique for us and didn't quite know what to expect. Andrew started us off with a short tour of his home and some Champagne. The magic happened in his kitchen where it was cozy but he had streamlined the process so that we weren't interfering with each other. I felt there was a perfect balance of what the Chef had prepared ahead of time and what we completed in the evening. For amateurs like ourselves, the tasks he had us do were not too easy or difficult. Chef Andrew made a point to explain things along the way as he hoped we would leave there being better cooks, which we are. After dinner, he prepared coffee and tea to our liking and served it to us in front of a fire (which he had managed to keep going all while we were cooking) in his beautiful backyard. A few hours later she got back to me and said that the situation both had our faults and she was able to refund half of my money. She welcomed us into her beautiful kitchen and garden, where we picked fresh basil and sage to prepare our meal.
