She worked so hard with my husband to help create a menu that I would enjoy (we were celebrating our pre-anniversary), and she delivered. I cannot put into writing enough how everything was just OVER THE TOP WONDERFUL!! I have never had a private chef over to my home, and boy - was this amazing. She set up, served and cleaned up (even more clean than when she got there) and it was such a five star experience from start to finish. Don't bother with these guys if you live any farther east than La Mesa, I called to try and arrange a bday party for my 10.year old and a lady cut me off while I was talking when I mentioned Lakeside and said "Noooo we don't go to Lakeside. Sorry." As if we are another planet (and maybe we are but that's not due to distance haha). I get that its always seemed incredibly far to North County folks but I'm willing to pay extra for the gas. Your meat isn't going to go bad if you have to travel that extra 12 minutes past La Mesa. It's not Arizona. Anyway, my star review is for being cut off and made to feel "less than". But despite the poor customer service, the food looks amazing and too bad we cannot check it out I would suggest just charging more so father east county can experience what you have to offer. read more

Chef Pharrell did an amazing job creating a Thanksgiving dinner to remember for 16! We planned our family trip to San Diego over Thanksgiving and wanted a traditional Thanksgiving dinner together in our rental home, but didn't want a grocery store or restaurant version of dinner. Chef Pharell had great suggestions as we planned the dinner and she worked two days to create our feast while accomodating our Vegan, Paleo, and Dairy - free family members needs (along with children!). Everything was perfect and delicious. She was very easy to work with. We highly recommend Chef Pharrell and would use her again if we are back in Southern California and need a home-cooked meal. read more

Chef Pharrell and her assistant Sarah conducted an in-home cooking class for my family and some good "foodie" friends. 4 Adults, 2 Children (14 & 13). What a grand time we all had. We chose her Italian menu, and it was wonderful! Chef was great, brought everything she needed, and got us all right to work! Finally we know how to make a great Risotto, how to properly use knives, how to make certain kinds of cuts, and much much more. I highly recommend this experience. I decided to make my own cake for my wedding next Spring. I know I can bake a good cake, but I'm much less confident about decorating it and making it look beautiful. Chef Pharrell gave me a lesson and showed me all the basics that I needed to know, plus a few professional "tricks of the trade" that will be invaluable. Some people are really good at their job but they aren't good at teaching. Chef Pharrell is both (you should taste her carrot cake!). It was a really fun time and now I feel like "I got this. I"m super excited about how my cake is going to turn out and I'd love to take a few more lessons before or after the wedding to build on the great foundation she gave me. Chef Pharrell put together a fabulous wedding shower and the best thing is that she did it all. The details, the plans, the decoration and not to forget the amazing food. We had a French crepe/champagne brunch with chocolate croissants and much more. We also arranged mini cooking lessons so everyone was involved in making some of the food. She goes the extra mile. Our meal was incredible. It was a birthday for a family member and she was very prepared and all of her ingredients were very fresh. She even prepared our dinner table with a tablecloth and dishware. We just had Cupcake Wars for my daughter's 12th birthday! The girls were a little sleepy due to sleepover the night before but had a great time being chefs, creating and decorating their cupcakes. I know that this posting is late, BUT, it's been worth the wait! We invited Chef Pharrell to come and make Christmas Cookies at our home for a fun holiday treat! She was fantastic with my kids, really patient and made sure that they understood the procedures that she was having them help with. It was ADORABLE to see my kids with their little chef hats and aprons! It was awesome to see how their little brains started working with the instructions she gave them, and be proud of themselves for being able to do it alone! Cooking is an awesome skill to pass down to kids, and I'm thankful for the time she took and the patience that she had while working with multiple kids! There was about 20 people making cookies in our kitchen, and it was amazing to see how swiftly she worked, and made sure no one felt left out or unable to complete a task without her awesome encouragement! We had the pleasure of working with Chef Pharrell and Chef Rudy over the weekend for a special event at our marina in San Diego. Let me first say that the pre-meeting and preparation was very thorough and responsive which was so nice they were on top of it since we were working on so many moving parts. They did a site visit so they were familiar with the limited space we had available to them. The day of the event they were prepared in the event of rain, which was in the forecast. There was not a complaint about any portion of their services... amazing appetizer (we required a charcuterie tray and it was outstanding selection). The salad, fresh baked bread, surf and turf, cheesecake, all of it was flavorful and perfect! We are so pleased with their service that we have hired them again for another dinner coming up. We used Artful Chefs (Chef Pharrell) for a birthday party with my wife, our three daughters, husbands and significant other. Chef Pharrell prepared Veal Marsala and gnocchi's. We incorporated the meal preparation with the Chef's instruction how to prepare the gnocchi potato dough, frying mushrooms to impart flavor for use with the veal marsala and the proper way to cook the gnocchi's so they don't turn into lumps of dough (which was my experience cooking gnocchi's on my own). Chef Pharrell provided great insight into proper knife use and skills. All in all, it was a wonderful, education experience and the food was great. We would unconditionally recommend Artful Chefs and Chef Pharrell. read more
