Located in Lakota, N.D. right off of and visible from hwy 2 Sunlac inn Lakota is a very cool…read morehangout spot kind of easy to miss with our busy everyday lives. But it is a long brick building that was built in the 60's by locals and runs long way from East to West. It has two flag poles out front one with American flag and second with North Dakota flag, if you look you will find it located right East of Dollar General. I've previously was employed by the business almost a year ago its been already time sure does fly by when you're busy living. But like the first review states I agree with, you can not find any better food while I was employed there. They have some local competition now a days but I wish the best for everybody local to thrive. They do have 10 electronic pull-tab machines to play on but unfortunately do not any longer have the black jack available :( that table brought in a lot of business was sad to see it go. The newer staff (manager Marla, and possible assistant manager Calvin, bartender Tyler & Aaron, front desk Paul & Mark, & housekeepers Margie and family, plus cook Aj) are very sweet and friendly people. Always nice smiles and warm welcomes that makes you feel right at home! I myself no longer drink alcohol but do remember many many many good memories in this building and will never forget the friendships I have made along the way. It's a 3 in 1 business, it is a motel/cafē/bar all in one. It's the perfect hide out/getaway that will leave you with an amazing experience in my opinion. Hunters come and book rooms weeks in advance every year starting from Oct 1st to Dec 1st. That is their busiest time of year bar none. But they are very loyal and return every year, over the years I've built friendships & memories with alot of them also. I miss that alot :( but my journey at this business has unfortunately ended do to lack of sobriety. I miss it everyday and wish things turned out differently and that is the honest truth. Go and support these people and you will not regret it I promise. You will have memories for years to come! Tell them that the old bartender Joshua Linskie sent you and they will take care of you Lol... thank you and don't forget to stay humble my friends and Godspeed to us all!

I've visited a few times. The rustic log cabin ambience makes for a cozy setting. There are stuffed…read moreanimals on the walls that make one feel they are in the wilderness. Service and food is usually good but can be inconsistent. I've had a few things including Perogies, steak dinner and fish. I've had different soups, all very good. The daily promo is usually very good value and if you order, the soup is usually discounted. They have a seniors menu with smaller portions that is good value. Although it's good food, portioning is also inconsistent. I had a great steak that came with potato and vegetables that was all very filling. I've had perogies but there were only 2. I thought 4-6 would be more appropriate. That meal was not good value and I won't order it again. They have all day breakfast with lots of offerings. Overall it's a very good restaurant that is inside the Co-op Truck Stop on the west end of Winkler.

This restaurant has declined since I ate there last there (2 years ago).. I ordered a farmer…read moresausage burger and fries & gravy. I only wanted mustard on my burger and it came with mayo, tomato and lettuce. I took all the extras off the bun. You couldn't taste the farmer sausage because the bun was too big for the little piece of farmer sausage that came with it. To boot the meal was lukewarm. Oh and the side of gravy was so thick and also lukewarm. When the server came to ask how everything was (as most servers do), I did let her know about my meal. The only thing she said was "Oh sorry to hear that" and walked away. No manager came to see if they could rectify my situation. I ate a few bites of my meal. When the server came back to get our plates, I asked not to be charged my meal as I only ate a few bites of it (I should have taken a picture of that). All she did was take our dirty dishes away. I asked to see the manager and no one came by. They did charge us for the meal. Speaking to the lady that took our money, we told her our situation and all she said was "Did you eat it?". I replied "A few bites" and her retort was "Since I wasn't your server, I can't help you!". For businesses suffering through this Pandemic you would think they would make sure you're a happy customer. One positive is that my bottled drink was cold! I'm still hungry!

I have asked in the past why this is something that's needed, as it isn't needed at most other places. I was given an answer and have never asked again. My husband, who works away, asked the same question and was met with being hung up on and blocked. Upon being hung up on, I explained to my husband what had previously been explained to me about this restaurant being scammed previously and how it's just easier for them to have the extra security. When I called from my own phone to place an order, I was berated about my husband asking this question and barely able to answer for myself. I informed the owner, Chris, multiple times that I wanted to just order pizza and try to diffuse the situation, however he persisted and escalated the situation. When he was finished saying his piece, he hung up on me. The entire interaction was extremely unprofessional. It's unfortunate I will no longer be able to eat locally anymore due to a lack of being able to have a conversation and human understanding with one another. Hopefully they treat their other guests with more understanding when being asked questions about unorthodox procedure. This was a very disappointing interaction.
