They need to change their name to " cox miscommunication" I have had cox cable as my provider for 20 years- always had problems They have replaced main tv cable box 4 times in 6 months! They replaced what they claimed was faulty cable to house- dug up my yard( didn't tell me of their plan- found out accidentally) borrowed cable from my neighbors cable box for temp repair-he wisely had switched to direct tv- left wires coming up from ground and broke his cable box which kept flapping in the wind! When they replaced cable from street to house they cut my electrical lines to outdoor lighting and cut sprinkler lines! Today they came to investigate why I have no on screen guide and therefore no ability to record to my dvr . At first wanted to replace cable box yet again.when I recited my history the tech looked at the wiring and found cabling to the main box was labeled " needs to be replaced" even though this info had never been shared with me or communicated to any technicians whom I called or those who were dispatched to my home. Apparently there is no way to run a new cable to the box bc only access to built - in wall cabinet was closed following framing and upon completion of construction. Called to speak with supervisor and was put on hold for 54 min and 39 seconds before I terminated the call. Dreadful customer service, poor follow up much miscommunication and overcharging . I called cox with the request that I have the cheapest possible Internet and cable that included Disney channel for 3 rooms. I specified I did not want a contract or any additional services such as a house phone. The installation tech comes to set up services and the work order had a channel package that doesn't include Disney channel, had a 2 year contract and a house phone with only 1 room. After being on the phone for 2 hours they finally adjust my terms and include what I initially requested. I was happy. But then I try to use my wifi and it doesn't work anywhere in the house. This is by far the worst cable provider experience I've gone through and I don't recommend it to anyone. read more

We had Cox Cable and Internet for a long time. We finally decided to stop the cable service and switch. They just keep on raising their rates. We keep our internet service for now but thinking of switching to a different provider later. Cox needs to lower their rates if they want to keep their long time customers. Cox has the worst customer service of any company I have ever encountered. For over 5 weeks I have been trying to upgrade my service to GigaBlast. There have now been two failed install appointments where I have cleared my schedule to accommodate and when the tech has arrived they are unable to complete install because the scheduled line drop did not happen. I am now being told that it will take up to an additional 12 weeks. In total they have wasted at least 8 hours of my time waiting for pointless tech appointments and drawn out waits on customer service calls that provide no help. In speaking to the "customer advocacy" reps I have received no meaningful apologies, no account credits, and no solutions. They blame dispatch as if it is not a part of the same company. The general message is "It is what it is" and there was absolutely no attempt to discourage me from switching to another ISP. This company does not value customers in any way and has no sense of accountability for their terrible customer experience. If I could give them a negative star rating I would. I was really really annoyed with Cox but since I left to Europe for a year and came back, they have really stepped up their internet. All in one router/modem in a beautiful big blue box with a STRONG signal - i no longer need my wifi range extender. It has 2.4ghz and 5ghz bands, so I am very very happy. But most of all its my 360mb/s download, 50mbps upload speed I'm getting - I can't believe this is even the same company! WAY TO GO KEEP NOT SUCKING THANK YOU COX read more

I only thing that you can count on with COX Cable Services is that your bill will always be expected paid when due, and that it will always increase without any delay! And don't expect any adjustments on your bill for loss of service or outage on their part, they expect your understanding in those matters. Same goes for slow internet even if you pay extra for faster service. And this covers just the internet service they sell, the TV package and telephone are both so bad I won't even touch them! That is unless you want a great line up of TV that offers more ads, and shows you're less likely to watch even if they were the only thing showing on the community TV in the city jail. The phone service is a direct line to every sales call center that will make every attempt to contact you over and over no matter how often you say no thank you! This is not a review of the company COX but of the Installer who was Awesome! Cory and his partner, just arrived from Poland, were extraordinary, going above and beyond the call of duty! When Cory realized the sales person had not included a cable box on my TV order, he helped me get back to the company to review the order and rewrite it for the Flex TV I wanted. The sales person had only given me service on a mobile device and not on my TV, my only useful source. Thank you, Cory, for solving my problem and getting me installed immediately instead of the next day which is what sales then wanted to do. I live in Scottsdale and have never had any problems with Cox cable, I use all their services and yes I pay for them. People always want everything cheaper and I get that. I wish everything were free, but it isn't. Try sattelite tv for a while and see how that works out for you, it goes out everytime the wind blows..I hated it. Cox came down to weave magic and install their "new phone system." What a joke. The phone only works sporadically now. For days it will be an empty static line and all incoming calls go to voice mail, which I have to access from my cell phone. When I call, they say reset your phone modem. You know, the box they installed behind my 200 pound desk, even though I pointed out it would be hard to access, they said oh, you won't really have to. Nope, only weekly. They have horrible customer service!! When I first received a quote for cable and internet plus two boxes and one dvr with an upgraded package I was quoted $170. When I got the service no upgraded package and no dvr so now I was quoted $210!! Huge difference. I had to speak to an agent who was rude and could care less if I canceled my service. I then spoke with a supervisor who brought it down to $170. My year and a half daughter was playing with our remote and somehow bought $70 worth of movies. We apologized didn't know how it happened and they refuse to reverse charges!!! Worst customer service I've ever had. Then I moved and they created a new account but for bills for my old account. Then disconnected my new account. You get different answers every time you call. I just checked reviews to see if I was the only person being abused by COX. Obviously not and I can relate to almost all negative reviews. They are arrogant, spiteful, not transparent at all and just plain nasty. I was told I had a two year "bundle" at a certain price but after one year the price went up considerably. Questions, concerns, options all fell on deaf ears. They now charge for HBO but didn't inform customers. You only find out if you ask. After two year contract they raised my monthly bill almost $60.00. It was already over $200. Who pays almost $300.00 a month for TV, internet, etc.? I ended up just cancelling TV altogether to get the bill to a reasonable amount. Guess I'll read books for next couple of months until I move. And, when I move, no COX ever again. Where is the FCC or other government regulating organizations that should be overseeing this unbelievably horrid company? Really explains the surge in noticeable satellite dishes. My complaint with cox cable is with the customer service via phone. I called and was redirected and placed on hold for over 2 hours before being hung up on. I called back and talked to a SUPERVISOR about the issue I was having and have never dealt with someone more rude than her. She was the manager of billing and told me what I was explaining was impossible and that I was lying. Even though all of the other employees were able to identify what i was talking about, just didn't know how to fix it. The employees were much more cooperative than the manager. Great internet, but the customer service people, even the supervisors don't care one bit about you. I called in because an employee added a "free" contour flex tv starter package onto my account while getting new internet service (I don't watch tv, but hey free is free). Once I got the bill I saw they were charging me $7.50 for the service as a surcharge. When I called in under my 30 days, they said they would not remove the charge even though the rep made no mention of the surcharge when he was more than happy to label it as free. They said it was reason I was getting the rate for $59.99. I went to the site, and the $59.99 internet package says absolutely nothing about needing app tv. I advised them of this and they said that package was different than the one I was offered. It wasn't, I had the webpage info saved in a folder so I could look back on it. I told them this, and they just reiterated they couldn't take it off. They weren't empathetic at all, to the point of being rude and talking over me. I wasn't an irate customer; I try to use a calm voice when speaking to agents on the phone because I've been there myself. When I talked to the agent's supervisor, I feel she was even more stubborn and rude. I advised I was considering disconnecting over the treatment and it didn't make one bit of difference. If they treat someone who isn't under contract yet like this, I can only imagine how much they don't care once they have you under a contract. Don't let them add anything to your plan other than what you want, even if they say it is free. It's not. And for god's sake, if you have an issue with a charge or fee on your bill, save yourself an hour of rude people and heightened stress and just pay it. It's not worth the pointless pain. read more

Here's a good one. We had a death in our family and when I contacted customer service they told me that they were sorry for my loss but, because I was not listed on the account, they were unable to help me!! So, before you pass away, make sure you have someone else listed on your account or you will never be able to cancel your service! It took me (no exaggeration) 4 hours between being on hold, being charged over $300 in late fee charges and talking to more people than I can even count to at least have them cancel the service! We continue to battle the $300 charge. I had one of the representatives tell me "How do we know your family member has passed!" I mean seriously!! I have a death certificate but nobody even asked for it and then to say that to me and to make matters worse that was a supposed supervisor. I am now flying to Arizona from Colorado just to return their d%*& equipment so I can be done with this company. I say RUN, don't walk, as fast as you can away from this company. Had a line go out to my house, literally it is dangling in my backyard. Service technician said they came by but didn't even knock on the door, said there was no line out on his field notes which I found out when I called asking where the guy even was in the first place. I don't know how you could possibly miss the line dangling unconnected, hanging off the power line if they stopped by at all. NPS = 0.Where do I begin? I was sold a bundle that did not exist. 54.99 for tv, internet preferred, and phone ("free"). I told the guy I wanted something around 50-60 dollars bill and the best internet that can get. I get my bill and it is 128 dollars! I am thoroughly upset with how I have been treated by customer service and loyalty department. I called 6 times to resolve the issue before the bill was finalized and everyone keeps submitting a ticket for me but they get declined and I do not get notified. I do not get any SCHEDULED CALL BACKS. That is when THEY call YOU folks. All the other offers they gave me were not discounted for being a new customer and were not a promotion in the slightest bit. Calling out those reps that I spoke to. Harrison in sales (initially screwing me into an imaginary deal), Melissa in billing (assuring me that if that was what I was sold then I would receive it with loyalty), Tidas in "Loyalty", Erica (the only one to finally tell me the tickets are being declined), Sanya in "Loyalty" (insuring me that the resolution would be there by Thursday), Adrian in "Loyalty" telling me the same thing over and over assuring me I am getting an extremely good bundle (that is almost triple the budget I gave Harrison, Sanya, Tidas and) the supervisor Tanzania. They want to charge me 75.00 for 15mbps. WHAT A JOKE. No one was offering to start fresh with me as a new client because something said I agree to the bill of 128 for the services? I checked there was no email! That is my agreement to pay 128.00 a month? STATED NO WHERE IN SAID EMAIL. At the COX customer service 866-867-7644 there was an extremely arrogant representative Benny who kept me 32 minutes on the phone while claiming constantly that he was the wrong department but could help me anyway, which he could not. They still fail to call you, fail to show up on time, fail to do anything they say they're going to do. I've now wasted two full days based on empty promises from their installation people and I STILL have no idea when I'm actually going to get internet service. And, because they're a monopoly, I have no choice but to just sit here and take it. I used to think cable companies in other states were bad until I had Cox. Now I realize they are pretty good (not as good as other companies but 10 times better than Cox). Initial setup - a nightmare. Took months. Turns out the problem was I bought a gateway/router that was current and in AZ they didn't yet support that (nor understand it). So I kept talking to customer support online about the connection continually dropping and since in their city/state they had the newer technology they didn't understand the problem. After costing me good chunks of money and tons of time over several weeks, they finally figured out AZ was just upgrading to that level and with another service call they finally got it fixed. Billing - It has been ok, yup have to struggle now and then, just who they are. I always pay the bill on their web page, not automated but paying each month only for that month. Well this last month things blew up. They took out the authorized amount repeatedly every few days. HOURS spent talking to the customer service folks, the final resolution was to send an email with supporting documentation to an email address and someone will look at it in the next 3-5 days. Oh, this is the escalated version given by the supervisors. You see the supervisors can't talk to the people who process things - they can only send them emails, and of course I can not talk to them either. Despite the supervisor assuring me that it would not happen again, yup just hours later they took out more money again. Now working with the banks to reject any cox payments. What a hassle and waste of an entire day. We only use them for internet. Guess it is time to find a new internet provider now that non-cable/non-dsl is getting fast enough to stream videos, etc. read more

If I could put zero stars I would. Let say our experience has been less than pleasurable. It started by us walking through the Walmart store in Chandler, AZ, since we just moved here, and there was a very nice young lady behind a Cox table. We needed cable so we decided to kill 2 birds with one stone. It took about 1 hour to go through the process but we had a date of July 4th (yes on the holiday) for installation which I thought was great. We had to get working on July 5th, since my wife works remotely. I received an email confirming the installation, all good, yeah right. Come July 4th no technician.....I called their customer service and was informed, by a supervisor, that the technician was not scheduled because we had not confirmed the phone service through their outside contracted service. I informed them that indeed I had completed the process and he put me on hold, came back and said that since I had not approved the process the same day I had booked it they did not schedule the technician. I completed the process the following day which was 2 days prior to the installation. According to the supervisor that was not good enough and no technician would be out to install our service for an additional 48 hours. No matter that my wife need to start working remotely the next day. They came out 2 days later and the technician set everything up.....except, oops, brought out the wrong modem. He had to come back the next day. He did and replaced the modem....all good, NOT. Every other day I have to have them reset one of the boxes because it starts working in the morning and then goes out. Today, they fixed the issue remotely and while on the chat it went out again......now tech will be out tomorrow. DO NOT GO WITH COX!!!!! THEY SUCK! read more

I'm a winter visitor, and every year when I come back, it's some new game to play. New speeds, new rates, and then the internet is intermittent. Gets so slow almost nothing works, then it's back. Maybe it's just my skeptic nature, but I'd bet they set up the speed capability of their lowest priced level to coincide with a speed that would give you problems downloading... so you'd then get frustrated and opt for their more expensive internet level. read more

First of all, I consider that I pay a lot for the service & products that Cox provides & I expect better. We went from DirecTv to Cox for TV & there is no comparison. The DirecTv whole house DVR system worked flawlessly. On the other hand, Cox Contour system is a joke. The stops, starts & all of the "try again later" messages you get when trying to navigate though the DVR process is ridiculous. The main control box is huge & the remotes & control boxes for other rooms are big also (in comparison with DirecTv's system). Too bad we can't get signal for DirecTv, I would be back to them in no time. read more
