First rodeo and boy was it fun! A rodeo was on my mom's bucket list. So we went and I did not know what to expect. It rained so there was a lot of mud. Bring a cooler. There was truck riding, bull riding, steer wrestling. Really good time. The funnel cake was banging. Get there early and sit in the higher seats. If you are there for the bull riding sit closest to the announcers station. It's rough to get out of the parking lot after the show. read more

People come to it form anywhere Georgia to Canada ..at least from what I've met for I've been attending every year since I was a child (32 years ago), and I still make it a point to go at least once or twice each year. It's the perfect mix of excitement, tradition, and family-friendly fun, capturing that authentic "cowboy lifestyle" in a way that's accessible and affordable. I've even taken a few first dates there because it's such a unique experience that's fun for everyone. I will caveat this review by saying we went to a Sunday afternoon show. It was not anywhere near sold out. We showed up around 10am to tailgate. We had our pick of spots and set up along the tree line. The lot was clean and so were the porta pots. There were also plenty of trash cans around to clean up. We could see from the lot and the stands (from the Peking lot) that there was no reason to go inside early to get seats. We walked in 10 minutes before the show and there were plenty of seats available. It's BYOB so you can bring a cooler inside with you! The only rule, no glass! Easy enough. We were there for a bull riding event. They made the show fun and entertaining. The kids had a blast. I wish they would share the scoring or who is leading etc. We had no idea who was winning. The prices inside weren't too bad. They have a souvenir store with T-shirt's and toys etc. They were also selling cowboy hats for $60-$90 or so. All in all, we enjoyed our day. Arrived 10 minutes after gates were supposed to be opened and the seats already looked full. After a relatively long line and wait we got in. Although it looked full, it was because there were hundreds of open seats due to people spreading out with no intention of allowing even a party of 2 to sit down. Even worse, there were a ton of instances of people "saving" seats. One lady was in a row of her own and was not only "saving" the rest of her row, she was "saving" the 4-5 seats in the row in front of her. I stated this to the Security Guard but he only seemed to care about keeping the upper walkway clear of us that could not find seats and had to walk around behind the railing into the grass. There is absolutely no control and seems to be no concern from management or those that could have assisted. If you zoom in on the picture you can see practically every bench with people spreading out as well as one lady blocking the seats next to her with her coffee cup, the row in front of her with her feet and someone saving the row in front of her with a stroller. We left after 30 minutes and will not return again. What a waste of time and money! read more

This was my family's first Jersey rodeo and we were really looking forward to it. Especially my eleven year old who is obsessed with bovine. The acts didn't disappoint and the audience was really into the show. That was until the end of the show. My daughter and I took up position near a fence with a group of onlooker. There was no sign or warning posted, forbiddIng standing in that spot. Before I knew it, some screeching Karen, with no staff ID sitting in the back of the family area, comes running over to scream at my kid that she had to move. No reason given. I was standing right behind my daughter next to a post and stepped to take my daughter's spot. Which prompted me to get screamed at. When I asked what the issue was, I was only told I was going to be ejected from the rodeo. Again, no reason given. Not wanted to cause a fight in front of my daughter, we left the rodeo. Probably never to return again. Who was this screeching moron? I have no clue. but it ruined our night. read more

This is literally my first rodeo!! And I'll definitely be back!! I live about 3 hours away and heard about PBR the events and grabbed a ticket months ago! I was so excited to come here and check it out. The lines were long but moved quickly, this event tonight (7/29) was sold out. The service was great! The rodeo kept everyone plenty entertained! There is a reason Cowtown Rodeo has been established for so long, they are certainly doing things right! Bring your coolers (no glass), bring your family and friends and prepare to have a good time! I never been to a Rodeo (and I've been to Texas!) but I found this place and decided to check it out. It was nice to be able to come during the whole Coronavirus situation. Parking was easy and there was plenty of it. They had a decent food selection and the options were fairly cheap. My husband and I had full meals here for under $25 total. The store had a cute set up and a lot of different things to buy from t-shirts to magnets to cups and more. The staff was super friendly to everyone. The actual rodeo was okay. I thought it was pretty fun for a one time visit. We live almost 2 hours away so I don't think I would be back but it was nice. read more

Went there on a Saturday night with our family and friends. Overall the show and performers were excellent and genuine horse people. The only problem I had was the PA system sounded horrible. I probably missed everything the rodeo clown in the arena said. You would think the amount of money being spent here would warrant some upgrades. This place is AWESOME!!!! I have never gone to a rodeo in my life, but over the past few years I have transitioned into a cowboy wanabee. From overalls to the cowboy hat, I'm all ready! I really love country music as well. I have been trying to get my wife to come here for about 2 years now, and this year we finally got here! The market is huge, and they have a lot of stuff, just not what everyone is expecting... We got there super early and we had purchased our tickets at the outfitters across the street earlier so all we had to do was walk in! Everyone there is super friendly! Really, super friendly! I have never been to anyplace like this where people were this nice and respectful. Its like an adult Disney haha! They had a full roster of shows that evening from bull riding, to barrel racing to wrangling! My wife and I were on our feet most of the evening cheering with the rest of the crowd! We had so much fun we will be coming twice next year and bringing all our friends! Some helpful tips. Get there early! Sit up high! The views are great wherever you sit. BYOB, but behave! They have a few vendors there, as well as a few food options. All of them are very reasonable! 2 people can eat dinner there for $20-30... Cowtown flea market is open on Tuesday and Saturday year round. I went on a Tuesday. The vendors were sparse and not that many shoppers there. Saturday is the best day to go. They sell the usual flea market/ yard sale stuff. I enjoyed it not being overcrowded and easy to walk through. My favorite is the Authentic taco's. They have lots of different types of foods to choose from. Parking is free and easy. They also have a Amish restaurant there that has some awesome rotisserie chicken. I have SUCH mixed feelings about rodeos in general. My entire extended family hails from Woodstown/Pilesgrove and many of them farm or hunt or do backwoodsy stuff. Somehow, though, I've always been that black sheep, the one who doesn't want to hear about how my grandfather would butcher chickens or how my cousins shoot game. With that said, Cowtown Rodeo *is* pretty fun. I stopped in with a cousin and her friend last night for the very first time in my 23 years. Fresh in my mind was the recent controversy behind the horse death here, so I wasn't surprised when they had a very clearly damage control announcement about how great the horses looked physically. The rodeo itself made me wish I could be a vegetarian (I just like chicken too much), and I found myself asking my cousin's friend, "So, do we eat *that* animal?" pretty often. The answer was usually "no," so that's always a plus. I just really didn't like some of the techniques they employ on the animals. When I told my grandmom (a farmer's wife) as such, her response was along the lines of, "Oh, please. They love those animals!" Anyway. Moving on. At one point, the skies opened up, but the rodeo went on. Many of us searched for cover at first, but quickly went back to our seats to get drenched. It wasn't too bad, though, since the day had been so-so hot. The one thing I did really like about the rodeo is that they have concessions. (They also had the Phillie Phanatic, which was kind of weird to me!) On our way out, as lightning filled the sky during a cowgirls' barrel competition, I stopped by the peanut booth and bought two bags for $5. Talk about instantly being transported back to childhood. So. Good. So basically, the point of this review is as follows: To each your own. If you love all things country, you'll love this place. If you're like me, and prefer to pet animals rather than watch people tackle livestock, you may be better off, well, anywhere else. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would give that. A good thing messed up by incompetence and rudeness.For an organization which called itself the longest running rodeo, you should have the control over that event much better down. At first they were overselling tickets and it's not guaranteed that you make it inside. We drove 2 hr , paid for the tickets, toll and gas for nothing. We made it 0.7 miles away from the event just to go nowhere. 45 minutes later the event started and we were still 0.5 miles away. No organization and traffic control . Total chaos. If you actually make it in, good luck finding seating or even standing room. If you are hungry, too bad , You will wait 45 min for a funnel cake and miss half of the show. I feel bad for the people living there and have to deal with this ridiculousness every Saturday. I will not return until they get their s*** together read more

My girlfriend attended the cowtown rodeo on june 3rd to take photos. She isnt a professional but a hobbyists and has a very good camera. She gets to the ticket booth and a woman selling the tickets sees she has a camera and takes the 25 dollars for a ticket, then she tells her She cant go in with a camera. We then ask for the 25 dollars back because taking photos are the only reason she came. She tells us no refunds. I ask for a manager and she says I am the manager. She wouldn't give us the ticket, We would have given it away but no. We called on the following Monday and someone called her back saying sorry and they would fix it , she ladie who called said she woukd call back with a resolution..she never did...shame on you...we wont be attending this place again and will advise others of the same. read more

The customer service was terrible .. I called to try to get tickets but they took them off line about a week before the show I called and from the start the woman was incredibly rude.. I told her we lived 3 hours away so was hoping I could get tickets over the phone or do will call like most places do but they did not want to accommodate me at all.. I told her I don't want to drive 3 hours not to get in but she didn't seem to care..I guess they took them offline early so they can charge 5$ extra at the door So much for helping out your customers! The customer service representative was rude and condescending If this is an example of what kind of business this is I want no part of it! Be wary if you call to purchase tickets they are very rude and do not care one bit about there customers .. I'd rather spend my 50$ at a place where they appreciate there customers not at a place where all they care about is making an extra 5$ a customer! read more

But we were surprised by how rough they were with the little calves in the rodeo. Our family loves animals so it was a little much for us. Let me start off by saying I am in no way an animal rights activist or a member of PETA. Cowtown was a fun experience. I have seen bull riding around on TV and wanted to see it it live. When we arrived there wasn't as much of a rodeo feel as I would have liked. They had some rap music playing and then some heavy metal, it just threw off the entire country vibe I was looking for. We sat down and the show started off with bull riding, then bareback and then wrangling. I had never seen this before. My friend and I were like this just seems mean! These poor calves were being wrestled to the ground by their necks. It was sad. We got up went to the shops while they finished up with that show. There are a few vendors selling Cowtown and rodeo attire and other chachkies. There were funnel cakes and the usual fair type of food. I'm not sure if it is always so crowded but there we barely any seats available. It was a different experience and fun in its own way. I would definitely go back especially since I know what to expect but Im still shocked PETA isn't outside picketing this place every Saturday. read more

You guys sold way to many tickets to be comfortable. It was uncomfortably packets, drunk people everywhere and no consideration for personal space. That was unfair to people who got there on time or early. Recommend limiting your ticket sales, and how much people can drink. Good luck in the future we will not be back. At one point your announcer stated their was "5000 people there" idk how many tickets were sold but I felt like I was being suffocated by 5000 people. read more

Great night out for all family members. We had a group ranging from 3 to 75 years old and it was safe, comfortable, and family friendly. Your kids can play safely, teens can wander, and the food is plentiful. You can also bring blankets, pillows, and coolers. They also do birthday announcements and the like. The only negatives are that the bleachers at the top hill by the food can be steep, far from the porta-potties, and sore on your butt after awhile. Can't wait to go back this fall! read more

Cowtown Rodeo is as old as dirt and has been a fixture in the Woodstown/Pilesgrove area for almost 100 years. Now, I don't know about you but there is very little "Western" in me. I've ridden a few horses over the years on trail rides and such, but I always felt like the horse was on autopilot, having been conditioned to sleepily follow the horse in front of him. Noses to derriers in a drone-like rumba line. Such is not the case at Cowtown, where you will witness feats of daring-do on horses that are more like tricked out Ninja motorcycles. These boys, and girls, know their stuff, from bull "riding" (only one rider out of eight even made it to the minimum qualification time, some lasting just a couple seconds) to calf roping to barrel racing. I've never been to a rodeo, but I found the whole experience a nifty snapshot into Americana from long ago. The rodeo clowns almost stole the show, having the ability to dodge a really pissed off, massive bull charging them at the last possible second. Some of these bulls were easily 1,800 or more pounds, which is a lot of angry bovine coming at you. Be advised that they do things old school here, so there is a prayer before the rodeo begins. I found this really neat, but those of the atheistic persuasion might be put off. Also note that after the show, there is an unannouced additional set of trials (called the "scratch") in which contestants deemed not quite good enough for the main attraction can compete. You can stick around for the scratch if you just didn't get enough of the main thing. Overall, I give high marks to the good folks who have been putting on this show for generations. It was exciting, fun, and different, and an absolute must for almost everyone, especially the 9 year old kid in us all. However, there was just enough of an adult in me to look at the whole thing and say to myself, "yeah, I think I'll pass on the bull riding and just scratch that one off the bucket list. I like my ACL right where it is thank you." read more

This is a really fun rodeo experience! Its one of the oldest rodeo's in the country, even if it isn't out west. Its actually on the PRCA circuit, and has all 7 of the regular rodeo events. Bareback Bronc, Saddle Bronc, Bullriding, Bulldogging, Steer Wrestling, Team Roping, and Barrel racing. The competitors here are mostly not on a national level, so you see quite a lot of buck offs, and misses in the events, but there are some really good cowboys and cowgirls here too, so it keeps the excitement level. The bull fighters, (or rodeo clowns) also put on a good show and keep the audience entertained, as well as do a great job in protecting the athletes! A good tip: get here early, and sit up against the fence in the middle of the arena, so you have a place to lean back during show and can also have a good view of all the events, as some start on one side of the arena, and others start on the opposite side. Also, bring your own small cooler with beverages, and save yourself some money, they allow alcoholic beverages too!! read more

It's a nice place to go if you're into rodeos or into anything western really. The place is located right next to the flea market so during the summer on a Saturday if you're at the flea market stay a bit longer and catch the rodeo that starts at 730. It's only $15 for adults. Ample parking spaces but be forewarned this place gets really packed on the last day. So come early so you can get a nice parking spot and a nice place to sit and watch the show. There are souvenirs to buy and plenty of snacks to pig out on. Great for families and friends. I saw a lot of kids playing and getting a kick out of seeing horses up front. The best part is that adults... this place is BYOCB (bring your own cooler of beer)!!!!! read more

The Cowtown Rodeo is hands-down one of the best ways to spend a Saturday night in all of New Jersey. When my boyfriend and I went for the first time, we had no idea what to expect, having only seen rodeos on TV or in the movies. The environment was lively and the audience was full of energy. The announcer does a great job calling the action and explaining what's going on for those making their first trip and frequent visitors alike. Beyond just the rodeo itself, there are activities for young kids and lots of great merchandise. The food at the snack stands is reasonably priced and better than what I expected. Since our first trip to the rodeo, we have been back and we are sure to be back in the future. Could not recommend the Cowtown Rodeo more. read more

We waited in a long line to get into rodeo. Was redirected to another shorter line by an employee. When we finally made it to the entrance we were told we were in wrong line and would have to go back to end and wait again. We explained and pointed out the person who put us in this line. A very rude woman employee kept scolding us and refused to let us in. She became irate and called for security when she thought we were videotaping her rotten behavior. Security let us in. The young children we had with us were frightened by this woman. The rodeo show was okay for an amateur show. Not worth the costs. We will not be back read more

Just went here last nite for the first Rodeo night of the season! We had been to the store a few times prior but this was our first visit to the Rodeo. We hit up the Memorial Day weekend tent sale at the store and picked up some bargains and also purchased our rodeo tickets inside the store. $15 for each adult & $10 for kids - kids 2 and under are free. Since parking is free and the concessions are reasonable this is a pretty affordable night out. You are also able to BYOB and BYO food, which is great! For 3+ hours of entertainment it is well worth it ! My only "complaint" was that I found the extremely steep asphalt grade down to the lower seating to be terrifying and unsafe. I couldn't understand the meaning of this ? As it's also too steep to make the seating handicap accessible. We were restricted to looking for seating up top as we were not interested in wiping out on the way down. (Or hiking back up) I also desperately wanted funnel cake but the line was incredibly long the entire nite ! We were sitting within sight of the line and I keep checking over my shoulder to see if it was getting any better. I will say that the people working the booth appeared to be working as hard and fast as they possibly could to turn out funnel cake .. But the demand was high ! Overall, great night ! We live about 45 minutes away and it was worth the drive and money spent for us! There's not much left around here by means of nice family fun and American tradition. Every time I am back in the area, I come here for a Saturday night. BYOB, great show and awesome people watching. This place can't be beat!!! There used to be a great line dancing bar we'd hit afterwards called "Friendly Tavern" but it has since closed down. The "Corner Bar" is another fun after spot. After 2years and many controversial conversations with my animal loving/ vegetarian friends I decided to slip out with my dad and finally visit Cowtown Rodeo. I arrived early and I was able to get great parking near the entrance and seating of my choice. As I was walking to purchase my admission tickets I was able to walk along the tagged livestock. The conversations started to play in the back of my mind... I just wanted to pet and hug each one. ( I truly would make a terrible farmer) The night was full of high energy thanks to the announcers and rodeo clown. They kept the crowd going. It seems the best seats are on the higher rows along the concession area.. But in my opinion every seat is pretty good since the rodeo occupies the entire arena. Well the latches were released and out came the first bull riding cowboy. I had to rise from my seat to watch.. It was pretty awesome. All I kept thinking was " what the heck were my friends complaining about.. This is pure fun! " well after the bull riding came the wrestling ... That's were I sat down. Looking on and watching the cow/bull run for his life because some human was trying to grab it's head and wrestle him to the ground just made me feel uncomfortable and I was preoccupied with my 75 year old dad walking up and down the steep asphalt walkway to make it to and from the bathroom. Not safe at all. Well the night went on and everyone seemed to be having a great time. The cow/bull were now being chased and a rope to the head and another rope to the legs and BOOM down they went earning the cowboy teams points. I found myself cheering on the animals. I looked around and apologized to those sitting near me because I didn't want to spoil their experience but they looked at me and smiled ... " This must be your first rodeo" one spectator asked me. Yes it was... A couple gentlemen chatted with me and told me it was a great American tradition but they respected my feeling. My tummy was in knots I was happy that at least three cows/Bulls were so fast that they never got "roped" that made me smile. I left before the show ended since it was getting too cold for my dad but I did stop by the shop and purchased a few sexy looking cowgirl hats All this to say.. To each his own ... I love this place ! I've been comming here all my life. Has a rodeo during the summer and the market is open all year. Great prices, great variety, I even remember when they had the animal auction before all the farmland started getting bought up. When I retire this place is going to be one of the things I'll miss about NJ . Woodstown is a great place to raise your children w/ an above average school system and very reasonable taxes( shhh.... keep that a secret) farm town living breeds good people. My daughter was looking forward to the rodeo. I bought tickets in June 2020 hoping the pandemic would not be an issue in September. I thought the rodeo ran through October and that was my fault but when I realized I contacted Cowtown to see if we could utilize our already purchased tickets for 2021. They denied me new tickets because "that is not their policy to give refunds or returns"...I explained I did not want a "refund" at all..I just wanted to be able to utilize the tickets I had already paid for in 2021 when it will be safer for my husband...I also explained that a global pandemic is not usual and my husband is high risk so sitting in crowds at this time is not wise. They didnt care and instead stole my money and denied my child the chance to see the rodeo. Dont waste your money on businesses like this that cant bend a little during a global crisis and lack empathy for the medically vulnerable. read more

This is a great family friendly rodeo to come to if you're anyways near the area. It's authentic, outdoors,been going on forever and true to it's roots. There is also a Flea Market next door and a well stocked Western Wear Store across the road..I love to come here while I'm in the Philadelphia Area and it's a pretty scenic and easy drive across the Ben Franklin and about 22 miles..During it's season it is every Sat at 7:30 rain or shine..Cowboys don't stop just because it's raining,rainy or muddy! Animals seemed a bit abused. Hard to watch. Prerodeo bbq is only a buffet style. The skill of the Cowboys was subpar. In the group lasso of the steer only the first team got the steer. The rest all missed or only one lasso landed partially or the steer out ran the horses. read more

I've driven past Cowtown hundreds of times on my way to Atlantic City. I've always wondered what a rodeo would be like. The wife and I decided we'd actually attend one. We arrived just after the gates opened. Parking was easy and plentiful. We went to one of the enclosures where the Bulls were. The wife got a lengthy lesson from one of the Cowboys. He was extremely friendly and explained every event. We took our seats and were thoroughly entertained. I almost felt guilty buying a burger for dinner after seeing the Bulls up close, but that burger was so good that the guilt quickly disappeared. It was a fun night of entertainment and definitely worth the $20 admission. read more
