If you were open 5 days a week maybe you could support customers with little jobs or just take 40 minutes to help me out. Update: I do not agree with your response. Small mending jobs, hemming, and slight alterations are your bread and butter for the year. I acknowledge that weddings are your priority at this time, but my job would have been quick and could have been added to a days' work. When I spoke with other vendors they acknowledged that was not a good business model, turning away business. While you may think not accepting work and commenting that I was not a bride is a good service conversation, as I read other reviews, many feel you are rude when communicating with them. I commented on your times that you are open because Google said you are open three days a week, your website says 5 days, and other sites say 4. It is not clear to a customer who has to travel downtown for the work.

Took a new suit in for tailoring. The sleeves were not shortened as requested, and I was told it…read morewould cost *another* $35 to have them done. When I said I would rather take the jacket elsewhere to be finished, they removed the set pins in the sleeve so the new tailor would have to start from scratch. Kind of a dick move. Additionally when I went in to get the suit, I brought a shirt I had hoped to get tailored. Instead of restructuring a men's dress shirt the correct way (side seams and sleeves), they opted to pin darts, which is the lazy and less attractive way of doing it. Thankfully due to the nonsense over the jacket that shirt also went to a different tailor down the street who did it correctly. incidentally, their price for custom shirts is about $40 more per shirt than three other tailors in the same area. If you're getting custom shirts made, it pays to shop around. So....if you want a quick hack-job on a Sunday when apparently no other tailors in Victoria are open, this is the place to go. Alternately if it's the shirt in which you're to be buried and don't care how the back looks, this might be a viable option (certainly more so if you're opting for a closed casket service). But if you want something done right the first time and for the agreed-upon price, keep looking. You don't have to look any further than two blocks North on Douglas.

I'm awarding these buffoons a grand total of one star only because Yelp doesn't offer a negative 1…read morestar rating. I know, I know, another totally harsh review, but seriously . . . To summarize: Worst customer service ever from a tailor/alterations service, and this is the one at Hudson's Bay, Victoria BC. Tailor(s) have zero front desk skills (have a difficult time recording basic client information, seem forever confused about basic transactions, etc.). Poor English-speaking skills. Failed to provide receipt. Failed to have dress pants altered (straightforward waist-in alteration) on promised date (1 week between alteration mark-up and delivery date). Difficulty in locating my dress pants when I picked them up, un-altered. Inability to provide a refund for the alterations previously paid for. Tailor/seamstress wanted to engage in some sort of amateurish argument with me when I demanded that she hand over my dress pants to me. Zero alteration management system or process in place; to be honest, it was a delightful surprise that they hadn't actually lost my pants. In short, in all my years of dealing with tailors/alteration service, this is probably the worst-ever experience yet encountered with a tailor/alteration service. Not only will I forever avoid having further alterations at this location, I will dissuade others from patronizing this location. This was a truly painful experience on both occasions (May 7 and May 14, 2016), but even more dreadful given my previous decade's long career in menswear sales. What I'm saying is: I've sold hundreds of suits in my previous menswear career and never once in the thousands of alterations had I even once experienced this level of infantile nonsense. And, in my current profession of wearing a suit for over a decade, again I've never experienced this sort of cow dung. Yes, I am quite cognizant that the tone of my review is bordering on rant, but it's truly rare indeed that one is forced to face such incompetence on a truly staggering level. Oh, and if I've somehow failed to provide my caveat to you, my dear reader, it is this: I would not recommend this business under any circumstances. Ever.
