This place has real potential but it seriously needs TLC. Even though there is Wi-Fi, it does not reach the upstairs rooms, which is obviously inconvenient for people who want to work or relax alone. There are no televisions in the rooms either, so it forces people to go downstairs into the living room space instead of staying in their room for some privacy after a long day. There were a few issues with my room (#8). The door knob was broken, but the padlock worked. I had to manually flush the toilet (reach into the top to pick up the thing to flush) because it wasn't working. When I brushed my teeth and washed my hands the tub would start to fill, so there's clearly a clogged pipe somewhere. I could hear the people next door even when they were whispering. I'm glad I brought headphones. If you're just looking for a bed to sleep in, it was very comfortable. The ambiance in the bedroom was very cute, quaint, and clean. I loved the electric stove. I'd up the star rates if more care was shown towards the overall physical aspects of the property.

We had no warning that this room was on the 3rd floor so did not enjoy carrying suitcases up three flights of stairs. Room from rugs to pillows to walls were dated. What was most disconcerting was that the top floor was not air conditioned. It did not appear that our small in room air conditioner had not been turned on in some time since the room registered 88 degrees when we entered. We complained and were told that it just needed a short amount of time for the air conditioner to work. We checked out after 2 days since this was not the case. We could not use the room during the day, and sleep was uncomfortable due to the nighttime heat. The breakfast was excellent and the location was convenient, but the entire facility needs updating. As frequent travelers, we have rarely had such a negative experience.

Glassware is provided for your wine, making cocktails etc. So easy! Having breakfast included is a wonderful start to our day & is very much appreciated as the views are relaxing & in the older style rooms makes it for a fun morning. Inn Keeper & owners have been very accommodating for anything we may need and always up for a little chat if you wish. They are obviously proud of the Inn. The large sitting room off the lobby entrance is my favorite for an afternoon fire, reading & a drink. Decorated very nicely & cozy. When we received the initial confirmation, everything looked fine (services and durations) aside from it stating "body polish" instead of "body scrub". I was assured that it would be a scrub, regardless of what the confirmation said. Unfortunately, the day before our services the confirmation email had different durations of services. When I called to inquire, I hadn't received a call back, however it was addressed immediately upon our arrival. They noted that our call was received and said they figured they would wait until they saw us. I wish it had been addressed ahead of time, as we had to make a quick decision on the spot regarding our services. I would have preferred time to think it over. Also, the polish was in fact a polish and not a scrub, which was not what was wanted nor expected. Overall, we had a great time and would go back! This has become a staple for our white mountain trips. The services are always great, the staff is always friendly, and we always leave feeling refreshed! The only downside was the lack of communication/scheduling error, which has never been a problem in our countless other visits here.

Unfortunately, our actual stay was very disappointing due to the management. We booked one of the barn rooms, and I would strongly advise against ever booking in that section. While most of the staff were friendly and helpful, the General Manager, Abe, was rude and unprofessional. On our first night, we received a noise complaint. We were up late due to jet lag, but were not being excessively loud. After a neighbor banged on the wall, I quickly received a text from Abe asking us to keep the volume down. Thinking it was an automated system, we immediately complied and kept everything quiet for the rest of the night. The next morning, around 8am, Abe came banging on our door as aggressively as possible. His exact first words were, "I'm asking you to check out today." He said we had been making noise "all night" and "banging on walls." Neither of those things were true. Once he finally introduced himself as the GM, I calmly explained that we lowered our volume as soon as we received the text and that we never banged on any walls. Instead of listening, he dismissed our explanation and began lecturing me in a disrespectful and hostile manner. To try to evict paying guests early in the morning, on the day of a wedding, without hearing both sides of the situation, is completely unacceptable. This experience left a very sour impression of the property. The surroundings are beautiful, and the other staff members were pleasant, but the GM's behavior ruined what should have been a positive stay. I cannot recommend staying here, especially when there are likely other inns in the area with far better management and respect for their guests.

We had booked the Buttonwood Inn in the fall of 2025 for a retirement trip with another couple. We worked with the owners on a refund policy of their choosing to help minimize the impact of our 2025 cancelation and rebooked our trip with them for this fall. Our traveling partner of over forty years just received his diagnosis of prostate cancer with surgery to take place during our scheduled trip, so we have once again been forced to cancel. We were not only denied a refund, but our credit card was charged the full amount for both rooms immediately, before the scheduled trip was even to take place. Additionally, the owner insinuated that we were making up the cancer diagnoses due to the "coincidence" in their timing. We weren't aware that cancer worked that way. She accused us of being the sole reason for their "no refund policy" even after admitting to us that they had other cancellations last year. The most shocking was when she provided us with the suggestion to travel without our traveling partner as he battles cancer. We have empathy for the plight of small businesses but believe allowances for extenuating circumstances should at least be considered, not flatly dismissed. We had hoped that a refund would be offered if the rooms were rebooked. Bottom line, unless you are 100% sure you will be able to stay at this establishment when you presumably are booking months in advance, look elsewhere to a place that has a more understanding refund policy.

I didn't take photos... I should have. The beet salad was beautiful - the presentation was almost too pretty to eat. Stacked, topped with a candied pear and surrounded by flowers, nuts and a sauce. The only reason I'm giving the location 1 star is because of all the help provided by the housekeeping manager in regards to helping find someplace to stay BECAUSE MY PREPAID ROOM WAS SOLD TO SOMEONE ELSE although I talked to someone from the hotel earlier in the day to confirm my booking prior to my 3.5 hour drive. My room was in the main inn, there are 5 rooms and parking for only 3 cars unfortunately with the motorhome that took up the majority of the small parking lot. In the days of covid this bed and breakfast has no breakfast. Additionally there is no staff and self check in consists of the room door being left open with the room key in the room (allegedly, unfortunately I was not able to experience this). Upon arrival I walked my things up to the third floor which is where my room was, tried the door and it's locked. Knocked on the door and there was no answer. Called the phone number that I had for the hotel and it went to voice mail. No room, nobody to ask about it. A couple happened to be heading out for dinner so I asked them if there was any phone numbers in their room or similar in the event that anything happened and they needed to contact management. Thank goodness there was a number to call. I was able to get in touch with the head of housekeeping. She was super nice and came to the inn to see what was going on. This is when I learned that that there was someone already in my room. This inn was full so out of luck there. They have a second property, The Will's Inn about 4 miles down the road where they were able to put me. I'll review that place separately. It was shared with me that I would receive a full refund for my room, as well as a gift certificate to be used at a later time. Neither of these things happened. Stay away from this place.

Even without the familial connection, I'd be absolutely in love with this place. Family and friends gathered this past weekend for a memorial hike in honor of my dad, who passed in 2007. Leon and Nellie went out of their way to accommodate us, down to even offering additional rooms when some extra guests appeared and getting up extra early to make us to-go egg sandwiches we could take long on our hike up Mt. Washington. Both our group and the other guests at the Inn were treated like treasured friends in their home and it felt like a big old family reunion for us all. The Spruce Moose is the perfect location---a short walk to the adorable North Conway village, and a quick drive to countless hiking options. The decor makes you feel like you're visiting friends in a luxurious mountain home. Zeb and Avery, the two trusty labs, greet you at the door and will cuddle you on the couch for hours if you let them. The beds are comfy, and the rooms contain no tvs so you can truly enjoy the nature around you (though there IS wi-fi if you need your technology fix). Breakfast in the morning is delicious and filling. Tea and coffee are available at any time. It was an amazing weekend, in no small part to Leon and Nellie. I will be back to the Spruce Moose the next time I come to North Conway!

My mother-in-law has been bringing us on vacation to Attitash for mine and my boyfriend's back to…read moreback birthdays for several years now. We've typically enjoyed ourselves but it seems like over the last couple of years we've been running into some issues. While I usually try to give the benefit of the doubt, some of the issues we faced this year were more difficult to overlook. I will start by saying that the resort has a lot to offer. It's a large property with multiple buildings. They've got entire suites for groups that include full kitchens and jetted tubs. There is a heated outdoor pool with a hot tub, an indoor pool with two hot tubs and a sauna. There's a small game room, an onsite restaurant, sporting facilities and play areas for kids and families. They've got a lot going for them. Unfortunately, despite all of this it seems like several areas have been lacking recently, including both services/amenities and general maintenance/upkeep of the place. Upon arriving and settling in for this most recent stay we noticed that much of the glassware in our kitchen was dirty. You could literally see the dried up stains where other people had put their mouths. Needless to say we were pretty grossed out by that. For the better part of our stay we were finding live yellow jackets/wasps in our room, which I've been petrified of ever since being stung for the first time a few years ago. During our weeklong stay we ended up finding and having to kill probably around eight of them at the very least. Come to find out there was a very small nest wedged between the sliding patio door and the screen door, but we didn't realize it was there until it was too late. We had to call the office twice about it. After the second call we did notice maintenance come near our patio and spray something over the window, but nobody came to directly talk to us when we were told that they would. Not sure if there was another hive close by that we weren't aware of, but after this we were still finding live bees in our room so we took matters into our own hands and ended up having to go buy some Raid. For the last two stays there were issues with both of the pools. Last year both the outdoor and indoor pools were shut down for at least a few days. They did seem to rush getting the inside pool operating, but I think that was mostly because the outside pool might've been closed the majority of that week if not for the entire week. This year on the other hand, the indoor pool was closed for the entire week we were there. The outdoor pool was open but the heater for it was down until our last full day, and the weather in mid September can be a little chilly for outdoor swimming, especially without heat. Additionally, the heat in the outdoor hot tub also stopped working this time around. I heard later that my mother-in-law mentioned some of these issues to the main office when checking out. On a positive note they did say that they want to offer a few free nights for next time, which was very generous of them. Despite some of the issues we had it looks as if they're doing some updating and trying to make changes around the resort, so I'm trying my best to cut them a little bit of slack here. We still tried our best to make the most of our vacation this year, so I can only hope for the best next year.
