In less than 48 hours my mother was taken, by ambulance, to the ER for shortness of breath. I stopped by one week later to give them an update to find her room cleaned out & her belongings boxed up! We never rec'd written notice or a phone call re: "bed hold", which I am only now familiar with. Now the staff & administration are lying trying to cover their tracks because they did not adhere to the state standards and requirements. The food, when delivered to her room, was ice cold, inedible. The evening aide turned the a/c, in her room, to 62 both nights. That was the care she got overnight. I do not recommend Cypress to care for your loved ones.

There was a young guy who came in every night before leaving who washed if I needed anything before he left for home. I can not say that there wasn't a person who wasn't caring and nice. I can only speak of my experience there and I was so thankful that they got me strong enough to go home. Also the family must stay involved with your care. At any nursing facility it's a must. Thanks to all who was involved of my care. The food was okay. If they had something that I didn't care for they offered me something else. The type of care received physical, occupational and speech therapy was quality care. Her last weekend experience in the facility became a unethical incomprehensible unimaginable experience when patient dumping occurred, patient abandonment and premature discharge (Sunday) with failure to secure an after-care facility before the patient transport to another facility. No proper care plan was completed to secure her next steps for care. The other facility had not received authorization from a doctor at Cincinnati Rehabilitation Hospital. She waited on a stretcher in the front lobby of the other facility for up to an hour only to have the transporter tell us he must take her to the hospital down the street. This caused undue stress, worry, and anxiety for the patient and family. Again, where she laid on a stretcher outdoors inside the patient transport vehicle until we got word to bring her back to Cincinnati Rehabilitation Hospital because the patient was in a state of abandoned.

There is another location south of here in Clarksfield, Indiana, but this is the North location. This facility is deemed an acute one which takes patients who have had a stroke or a traumatic brain injury and rehabilitates them until they are maybe at least able to feed themselves and possibly walk. My primary care physician recommended this location for my mother, who had a stroke around Thanksgiving and spent three weeks in the hospital. Before the stroke, she was very active, independent and could care for herself. After the stroke, she needed to have some rehabilitation and therapy before coming home. Other facilities wanted to throw my mom away into long-term care and not really give her a chance or opportunity to attempt to rehab herself. The intake agent for PAM Health was NOT like that and she said the staff at the facilities do not have that attitude either. She took care of everything that facilitated my mom being transported from the hospital to the rehab location. Everyone who was associated with the care of my mother was amazing. They were caring, empathetic, and patient with her needs, but also challenging with her therapy when needed. In addition, they were communicative with me in terms of identifying her needs challenges, diagnosis and prognosis. I really appreciate their candidness and empathetic nature. I would not have been able to endure this whole process without them. If any other traumatic things happen to me or any of my family members, I would definitely try to get them into this facility.

The staff makes us all laugh. They work hard to cheer us up. They interviewed me to find out what I like and others there then arranged activities to enhance our stay. The Chef cooked special orders cheerfully. I found the food fresh & delicious. Loved getting breakfast in bed when I slept in. I was bed ridden until physical & occupational therapists worked with me to get me walking again and reducing my oxygen from 4 down to one. I feel it is possible to be back in the league playing tennis & golf again next summer. Thank you everyone peers & staff at The Anderson ". For the gentleman who went to Heaven instead of home. His family was well liked too. The funeral director took care of everything. We mourned and did an activity he would have enjoyed by watching "The Haunted House" with Eddy Murphy.
