From an early age, Vanessa was captivated by the body modification industry: the art, the self-expression, the empowerment it brings to people’s lives. That passion became a guiding force, leading her on a journey that would shape everything to come.
Her path eventually took her to Texas, where she met Haley; her partner in both life and business. Together, they weathered the challenges of the pandemic and built a life rooted in resilience and mutual support, all while Haley learned to tattoo.
About a year later, they set out for Denver. They chose to start fresh, build something meaningful, and lay down roots in a place that felt like home from the very beginning.
In 2025, Coven Body Mods was born; not just a studio, but a sacred space. Where transformation is honored, where individuality is celebrated, and where every piercing and adornment is part of a larger spell; one of empowerment, self-love, and rebirth.
Meet the Business Owner: Vanessa S.
Vanessa Stephens (She/They) is a professional body piercer with over 15 years of experience in the industry. Originally from Queens, New York, Vanessa now resides in Denver, Colorado with her wife and their three beloved fur babies. Her passion for body art began early in life, leading her to begin a piercing apprenticeship shortly after graduating high school.
Committed to excellence in her craft, she has continued her education through advanced seminars and workshops, including Fakir Intensives and the annual Association of Professional Piercers (APP) Conference in Las Vegas.
As a queer piercer, Vanessa is deeply rooted in her community and dedicated to creating a safe, welcoming environment for all. Whether it's a child's first earlobe piercing or a gender-affirming experience for an adult, she approaches every client with care, respect, and love. Her goal is not just to pierce; but to empower.
