This was apparently in response to an unfavorable review I had posted elsewhere, to which they responded that "they'd be in touch soon." And they were, but it shouldn't have taken a bludgeon. The rep who came to my house was knowledgeable and efficient, the "measurer" who came on time was in and out in no time, and the installation guy knew what he was doing. The installation itself works -- so far. There's an apparent problem with a battery that doesn't seem to be charging as expected -- what I thought to have been a trivial problem, easily dealt with -- that has escalated into long, drawn out attempts at communication that seemed to disappear into the ether. I have several other window fixtures I was going to hire 3 Day Blinds to handle, but their shockingly unresponsive customer service has me looking elsewhere.

I had started the job myself but got an anchor screw stuck and figured I should have a pro step in so I didn't wreck my new walls. All the supplies were here, placed where they needed to be, holes were measured and marked for custom made rods and drapes. He charges by the hour and moves very, very slow. He didn't have his own step ladder or anchor screws. In the first hour, he managed to put in 3 screws in holes that had already been marked. He claimed he "needed to remeasure" and that's why it took so long, but he used the holes that I had already marked. He also said it was too hard to do with custom cut rods. He also said it wasn't his fault because I had an anchor screw stuck in the wall already, which was the whole reason I hired him. This is what pros do: they come prepared, know the required materials and techniques, and advise the customer on the best way to proceed. I knew we needed to cut it off when he asked me how to use an anchor screw. He didn't know if you needed to pre-drill or not for a very basic and common anchor. I cannot imagine a professional handyman not knowing that. He used a level to stare at the pre-marked holes for what seemed like an eternity, just eating up time. 3 screws = $200. Seems like a nice enough man, but handyman may not be the profession for him, and that's giving him the benefit of the doubt that he wasn't just trying to take advantage of someone he assumed was too naive too know how long the job should take. He became very defensive, making excuses when I said we'd need to end the job at one hour. Im sure judging by other less than 5 star reviews here (that I really wish I'd have taken the time to read) he will post a very defensive response here as well. Please just don't take a job you don't have the required expertise to complete, and I don't want to hear defensive excuses when I'm still out $200 for almost no work completed.

Their so-called "store designers" are not real designers with drapery expertise and can't guide you properly. I relied on them to help select the right fabric for my project, but they steered me toward options that were completely wrong for my needs. They never cautioned me that the fabric I chose was far too thick and heavy for my windows and application--it made the panels look bulky, weighed down, and completely unable to hang or drape right. Instead of flowing elegantly, they spread out awkwardly and looked stiff and unattractive. The quality was abysmal overall. The fabric felt cheap and low-end despite the high price, and had none of the luxurious look they advertised. Measurements were botched multiple times--lengths were inconsistent and off by inches, panels hung crooked and uneven, ruining any chance of a polished look. Customer service was nonexistent and infuriating: unresponsive, full of excuses, and zero accountability. Problems piled up and forget about a refund even when the product is unusable. In the end, the product was unusable and hideous--it made my room look worse than before. I had no choice but to rip them out and start over with a different custom drapery maker who actually delivered what was promised. What a colossal waste of time and money. Avoid The Shade Store at all costs. They overpromise, underdeliver, and leave you with an expensive mess. Terrible quality, incompetent guidance, and shockingly bad customer service. Never again.
