* Casino Only Review * I know this is the biggest casino in Louisiana, but it is also by far the best! I live three hours away and will pass up a few other closer casinos to come to Coushatta. I'm a slots only player and really enjoy the variety they offer. I think their games are fun and they pay out decently. I don't ever feel like I just got my butt handed to me when I leave. I also really appreciate the free drinks they offer on the floor & thought it was really cool they have an Icee machine. I also like their alcoholic drink policy and the way you're able to order a drink at one machine, then move to another and still get your drink delivered to you. Their players card program is the best I've ever seen as far as comps and offers go. That's saying a lot as I've frequented casinos in Vegas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana. We have been loyal Coushatta guests for many years and have always stayed in the RV park. One of the things we loved most about coming here was being able to enjoy the Dream Pool just like any other resort guest. We were extremely disappointed to learn that RV park guests are no longer allowed access to the Dream Pool while hotel and chalet guests still are. As RV guests, we also pay to stay on the property and support the resort, so it's frustrating to feel like our business is no longer valued the same way. Unfortunately, this change has really taken away from the experience that kept us coming back year after year. read more

Staff could have been friendlier for the chalets. The chalet itself was gross. 191 is in a desperate need of a deep cleaning. The single chair in the living room was very uncomfortable. Fridge is very big and did its job. No toaster and single cup coffee maker. But there are a microwave and stove. Microwave worked great, not sure about stove. I came back from the casino to the smell of heavy body odor in my chalet and my service dog acting so oddly that I wanted to leave. Nothing, that I am aware of, was taken. I did have the privacy please on my door. The stench was throughout the entire house. Against my better judgement, I stayed. I was awoken at 1am, startled, thinking I saw someone right outside my bedroom, INSIDE my chalet. I didn't sleep the rest of the night. My service dog didn't bark or anything and she is trained for protection as well. So, I am not really sure what to think. The resort is broken up with several hotels on the property, and it was hard to find somewhere to eat besides what is in the casino. I love room service but being I was in the chalet; I didn't get the option. I also love visiting the spa when on vacation but never saw nor heard of one here. If you're willing to make the almost 40 mile extra hike from Lake Charles, Coushatta is a good option if you're trying to satisfy that gambling itch. Typically for me, I don't have the motivation or patience to make the extra drive, but I will say I tend to have better luck out here than in Lake Charles. They do have buses out of Houston that take you here, but then you are stuck win or lose until the bus leaves. This place is the largest casino resort in Louisiana which is appealing as far as having options depending on what your preferred form of gambling is. They also have bingo which can be a fun outing with friends that don't really gamble. They also have a fairly new sports book for those that like to put a little wager on sporting events. As far as player advantage or rewards perks, I think Coushatta is very generous with their comps. I don't come here often, but when I do, I am getting offers for free rooms and free play shortly after for a good period of time. If you're hungry, there is no shortage of food options. They have everything from fine dining to fast casual. They also have a Starbucks on site. If golfing is your thing, they do a whole 18 hole course that is very well maintained. I have never stayed overnight here even though I've had lots of comps, but they do have alot of lodging options depending on what your budget is. The grounds also has a really nice mini water park which is a nice draw if you're bringing the kiddos. Speaking of kiddos, they have a Kids Quest here too if you want the kids to have some fun while you spend their college tuition at the slots! A win/win for all involved. Overall, if they could just move their whole location to right off I-10, I would come here more often. It's definitely a good option though if you got that itch! read more

Never...and I mean NEVER.. have I experienced anything remotely as horrific as my stay at Coushatta. I'm genuinely questioning how this place is still allowed to operate. This hotel is not just bad -- it's hostile. It feels like everyone who works there actively hates guests. The rooms are revolting, the service is nonexistent, and management clearly couldn't care less. It's not just a bad experience; it's an actual health and safety risk. I wouldn't stay here again if the room was free and came with a winning lottery ticket. This place should be shut down, fumigated, and investigated by every health authority in the state. I really wanted to come here even though this was an hour away from our hotel, Delta Downs as this was the biggest casino in Louisiana and has the loosest slot machines and was hoping to get a jackpot as they did have $10 dollar pinball. We came here for the casino and we ended up staying there for six hours which is a good amount of time. The casino is going though a lot of construction as I am sure they are making the casino much bigger as they have competition in Lake Charles and try to attract people to come down from Alexandria. So getting to the parking lot can be confusing, but we ended up parking in the lot. I was hoping there would be a parking structure. Casino overall is a good size. They have around 2600 machines and they carry old and newer machines and has a budget for everyone from low rollers to high rollers. They old IGT machines which are the pinball and I am sure they are a favorite. They have 25 cent top dollar and a slew of those machines down the rolls. The casino have a good selection of high to low volatile machines. Now I did not get too lucky at the casino and did not have a major win like $550 dollars from pinball and $400 progressive win and $395 dollars off an Aristocrat machine that is high in volatility or a promise of getting a jackpot. But this casino does have potential. I wish they did have the Ainsworth Thunder Cash, Mustang Money, etc. But they had Coyote Bucks and the San Bao Pandas. I believe this casino does get the latest and greatest games as I was able to play top dollar grand, but found out it was a high volatile game and the bonus was not good. I lost the most at this casino, but then again I was trying to get the bonus from pinball and the San Bao Pandas which burned through my budget the most. I did loose quite a bit of money and probably the most out of the three casinos. However, it was not to the point where I do not want to come back ever here again as if you play high stakes you are going to go through a lot of ups and downs. But if I am back in Lake Charles, I would come back here again. At least my wife did really well here however and came out a winner. read more

This place is great, except for the guy playing the violin, people in the streets of New Orleans play better, play something more joyful and upbeat.. They're still remodeling part of the hotel but nevertheless the place inside the casino is great. There plenty of areas to pick up a snack to eating a Steak. Let's start with the good. Pleasant staff. Clean hotel. Clean gambling area. Restaurants also were clean. The staff was pleasant everywhere and check-in was easy. Food was GOOD at the Noodle House and the Steakhouse. BAD: THE PLACE WAS FREEEEEEEEZZZZZING. And I like things cold! Let me break down per area. Let me start with the pool. First off, they don't have enough rafts to float down the lazy river. Staff said they were "ordered." Pool season is almost over........ 2. They NEVER cleaned the pool area. There were towels and trash everywhere 3. The pool itself needed some maintenance, starting with the missing tiles along the lazy river. 4. They had 3 staff sitting on their butt doing literally NOTHING where people come in. Those people could have been cleaning up and picking up towels and discarded drinks, etc. They had food on the counter where people came in, and two were slouched down with their feet up. 5. The bar was crowded, had a missing panel with exposed wires that was very unattractive. I actually thought the whole bar area needs a revamp. So overcrowded and Messy 6. Lifeguard chairs looked terrible. Hotel room. 1. Cleaned nicely but the first thing I saw when we walked in was the missing paint on the wall and stains on the carpet. I have photos. 2. Actually had enough towels. Imagine that 3. Toilet paper is really revamped Sand Paper, so if you have a delicate touchey bring your own! 4. Cleaning staff Very nice. That's shocking. Activities: 1. Gambling.Gambling. 2. Bingo 3. Gambling 4. Pool. 5. Gambling. They would get a LOT more business if they had more things to do! *And yes I IKNOW it's a CASINO for those who will feel the need to comment. Auditorium (or whatever you call it.). Piss poor design. They have the HUGE AC things against the wall. If you were unfortunate enough to have a seat by them, you had a HUGE problem hearing. Stacy who works front desk at The Grand is one of the most rudest people I've ever had to deal with the isn't the first time my husband and I encountered her! She will be one of the main reasons Coushatta lose a lot of their patrons she hangs up on people we called to cancel and ask her for a cancellation email and guess what she never sent but she forward us to voicemail for and hour! The first time she canceled my reservation and at the grand and moved us to the Chalet! She actually gave our room to a couple who was in front of us and yes I could have it was more racially motivated! read more

They are currently doing construction for a new hotel. They were still working after 10:00 p.m. We called the front desk to inquire about what time the stop and were told they didn't know. They work at the construction site through all hours of the night. As you can see from the photo they have a long way to go so if you want to sleep I would not recommend staying here. We used to love going to Coushatta! The place has really gone down hill as far as slots go. We are upgraded members with Players Club and enjoy the comps but have lost a lot of money the last 5 trips! Of course every time they are building something new the slots are SUPER tight. I have a personal rule... if there's duck or rabbit on the menu, I order it. When Darius told my dining companion about the appetizer I sat patiently waiting to order it. Only regret is that I didn't get 2 or 3 servings. Redfish Ponchetrain prepared with crab, oysters and shrimp was superb! 3 types of mushrooms in the side dish were a perfect complement to the entree. If you're willing to drive another 30 minutes past Lake Charles, you'll get so much more bang for your buck at this casino resort. The staff is very friendly. The players Advantage Club has a lot of great benefits. I've had a lot of fun playing the slots. This is become my favorite getaway over the last few months and I've gone at least once a month, for the past 3 months for 2-night visits. I prefer the adults-only Grand Hotel over the Seven Clans Hotel. The Grand qHotel side has a Starbucks in their lobby. And there's less walking to get to the gaming floor. I enjoy dinner at the Big Sky Steakhouse during my last visit. And it was delicious. The service was great. I would put it on par with any of Landry's similarly-styled Steakhouses. I like coming to Coushatta versus the casinos in Lake Charles. For starters it has a good vibe in here. There's plenty of table games and a variety of slot machines. I also don't get wiped out in the first 10 minutes which seems to happen at the other area casinos. You can order a beverage (including alcohol) right from the slot machine and have it delivered to you. Alcohol is still complementary for customers who are actively playing as of May 2022. On a previous trip my husband and I stayed at the Seven Clans hotel which is connected to the casino. Our room was modern and nicely appointed with a large bathroom and huge walk in shower. If you book a weekday you can score a room for a decent price. read more

Stayed at their hotel, and we were treated like dirt from the moment we checked in. The front desk appeared annoyed that I brought my 13 year old. The lazy river was closed for the season, so I had to leave my son in the room for the rest of the stay after we were constantly stopped and harassed by security. I was the only one that had her bags checked, questioned where we were going, and my son was screamed at by security for straying too far behind me. We were following all the rules. The only places to eat was inside the casino, and my child stayed along the red carpet but apparently that wasn't enough for those assholes! Never again!!! My husband took me there as I enjoy playing the slot machines. I just broke even. I enjoyed the pool area! There is a bar and public bathrooms close to the pool area, which was very convenient. They also provide large bath towels. They had loungers in the shallow area of the pool. Perfect for sunbathing. We had a room with a balcony that overlooked the pool area. LOVED IT!! The room was very clean and comfortable. The housekeeping staff were very accommodating and nice. The ONLY complaint I had was that there was NO microwave in the room. Probably because of room service?? Not sure, we didn't ask. Many times our meals were too large and we wanted to bring back leftovers to eat later, BUT NO way to reheat. There were nice restaurants in the casino and the wait list wasn't too long. We made reservations for dinner at Vic and Anthony's Steak Restaurant which was very good. I am a huge fan of Coushatta. We have been coming and having a super fun time since September 2014. We are from South Texas and come to Louisiana at least twice a year. The one thing we ALWAYS looked forward to eating was the Nathan's Hot Dog with Chili and Cheese. To our surprising disappointment, they are no longer offered. They offer a cheap imitation now. The nacho cheese taste the same, but the bun is dry. The new chili taste like the most affordable one on the market. The wiener was ok. So sad this place has gone down hill. We have been coming for years and years and really enjoyed the place but what happened? After booking a two night stay at the Seven Clans, and get to pay the customary "resort fee". For that you find the "dream pool" exactly that....a dream (opening late May), no servicing of the rooms, an a/c that sounds like an airplane engine and the coffee shop down stairs closed.....just walk across the entire casino to the other one. We asked for a extra ice bag for the ice buckets and "we don't give out bags, we change out the entire bucket". Someone did bring us some "bags we used to use", which was identical To the bag we asked for. Very disappointed and fully expect this place to further deteriorate unless Someone in management wakes up. read more

We love the casino. Better comps than all the others. Including the casinos that are in Lake Charles. Food has gone down a bit since COVID. Food ok at most restaurants. Big Sky Steak House has lost a step from the old days. Ordered an old Fashioned and was no where as good as Morton's Steak house at the Golden Nugget. Food is good but not great. If quality food and drinks are important to you I recommend The Golden Nugget in lake Charles. If you want better comps and gambling then Coushatta is hard to beat. read more

This was our first stay back after a year. Everything seemed and looked the same. We stayed at seven clans. The room was spacious, had a refrigerator, and a nice walk in shower. The food at the cafe was something we did not care for. Also our kids love the arcade. read more

I have been to Coushatta twice with the Hispanic Affairs Association at work. We get a bus, load it and go have some fun. The casino has a lot of slot machines varying from 1 cent to quarters to one dollar to five dollars! There are also tables where you can play card games. Last time I was there I didn't gamble, I mostly just walked around and watched my coworkers play. This time I tried the machines, was winning $7, but then lost them. It was fun though! The Casino is cool and all of the workers there are very nice and helpful. They have a buffet, which is usually a hit or miss. This last time the food was OK. The buffet costs $15 and that includes a drink. One thing to know is that the card they give you when you get to the casion gives you points you can use for food, to play and even for cash! so the more you play, the more points you can get. Also, if you can get 40 people together, the casino will send a bus for you for free!! All you have to do is give them a $400 refundable deposit (I guess they want to make sure you get your ppl together). I think I may do something like that for my birthday in a few years!! Ugh, what a horrible place. It's so sad seeing elderly people with oxygen masks at the penny slots or desperate looking people around the craps table. It's just all so pathetic & icky. I come here once a year with a huge group of friends for Super Bowl weekend. I don't gamble so I resign myself to people watching. It's not even entertaining. Coushatta took a hit with Hurricane Harvey and then COVID but is on its way back to the excellent place it has been for years. They don't have a buffet since COVID but meals in The Terrace are still available. We go several times a year and are on a first name basis with some of the staff. My 85 year old parents visited the casino which was a 3 hour drive, one way, away from their home. My father lost his $45 flip phone there. They called the casino and they confirmed that they had his phone. They refused to mail it to him. They said he could not prove it was his phone. Who is going to call and ask if they happened to have a $45 red flip phone to try to steal it? They said if they come back they will give it to them. How is he going to prove it is his when he gets there. They want them to have to drive another 6 hours to retrieve a $45 flip phone.
