This is a MUST VISIT if you're in Inverness. I was lucky enough to get to chat with Bruce…read moreMacGregor, one of the owners, and listen to him play. His passion, talent, and story telling is unmatched! The roast dinner was delicious and the cocktails were so fun! They take great care with the details around the pub, giving nods to history while pushing forward progress within the re-adoption of traditional Scottish music. Come for a drink or a meal, and stay for the vibes, history, and immense talent on stage.

Re: Delicious Sticky Toffee Pudding…read more To the Greek couple we met in Inverness, with great apologies, we suffered confusion of which delicious desserts we had at various restaurants around the city, inadvertently directing you towards a place that did not serve sticky toffee pudding. We should have pointed you towards MacGregor's as having the most delicious sticky toffee pudding, now verified after having several others that did not perfectly balance sweet with salt as that of the sticky toffee pudding at MacGregor's. If the pub is full, please find your way to the end of the bar and the small door to the left that takes you to the cosy table service room where Jess and other wait staff, including little Nala, will take the best care of you. We also highly recommend the steak & ale pie and fish & chips, should you require something a bit more than the sticky toffee pudding. Again, apologies, and we are certain you will have a fantastic experience at MacGregor's!

The amount of food was just enough for us. Some people might not have found it to be enough. Everything was very well done, but it was very fancy food. Not just smoked trout, but smoked trout mousse. Not just crackers, but crackers with nettle leaves. The beef tartare was served atop a potato cube. Service was very attentive. A great place to celebrate a special occasion.

Augustus and Glencoe, causing it to close for over 7 hrs, we found ourselves in need of hotel rooms. Back to The Lovat we went. The prix fixed dinner was delicious. First they sat us down in a lounge/sitting room for "snacks" while we played cards, then we were taken to the dining room for dinner. They presented each course, explaining the preparation, etc. We really enjoyed our experience and the delicious food. Everything was presented beautifully. We stayed in the garden rooms which are a newer addition to the hotel. They had great views. The rooms were clean and they provided goodies in the coffee/tea/refrigerator area. We all really enjoyed our time in Fort Augustus and look forward to visiting The Lovat and Station Road restaurant again.

American Tourist here…read more Here is the racist or possibly just rude conversation that happened as we entered the restaurant. Me: Table for 2 please Old man (i assume the owner): {blank stare}...sorry I can't help you i'm thinking this guy is kidding and chuckle a little and pause for his reply He then points around the restaurant and says we don't have space. I look around and there are like plenty of open tables I look back at the old guy and he pauses...and says they are ALL reserved. queue awkward silence....now everyone is staring at us and i'm like ok let's GTFO. So, maybe we completely misread the situation but it seemed to us that a racist guy basically said "we don't serve your kind here." OR We just had a conversation with a rude and/or socially awkward man. No option of waiting for a table or taking the order to go...

They'll get you what you need. The langoustines were delicious and perfectly cooked, and generously portioned. I can't remember what my husband had, but he liked it; it might have been a venison dish. I really enjoyed their selection of Fenitman's sodas. It was a great find, and I left feeling quite satisfied. Call ahead for a reservation, because they get booked up really quickly. As soon as we got off the boat, I called to make a reservation and we high-tailed it over there before everyone else figured out that it was the closest place to eat.
