The Courtyard by Marriott has a brand new renovated space within the hotel called The Barn on Grand. Recently, I visited during their Holiday Showcase. The space is gorgeous, it has both a rustic and modern vibe. It's a great space to host a birthday dinner or office gathering. The space was gorgeously decked out with Christmas decor. They had samples of their holiday menu which was exceptional! There were so many great items from appetizers, carving station, pasta station, charcuterie, to desserts. The space even has its own bar. I also visited the Bistro Bar for a happy hour and I got their Bistro Burger and Fresh margarita, both were so good. The Bistro Burger had lettuce, tomatoes, cheddar cheese with garlic aioli (amazing) on a toasted brioche bun and the margarita was delicious and had the perfect balance of sweet and tart.

3 times I had to ask for my included Breakfast!

I had to ask three times for the breakfast that was included in my rate. At check in, I asked about my Breakfast, they told me it's not included and I will have to purchase breakfast. Overnight I checked my confirmation, and it said Breakfast was in fact included. Called the front desk and they told me no unless I can prove it. I showed them the above confirmation and they said okay, charge the breakfast to your room and we'll credit it at checkout. Again at checkout the charge was on the bill. The front desk manager who I had interacted with before claimed she didn't know anything about it. I had to remind her of my confirmation again for her to go back to the hotel manager to remove the charge. The front desk manager also promised me a $10 credit for my inconvenience which she conveniently forgot. very disappointing.

Nice and clean. Friendly staff. Easy parking at just $12 a night! The room was quiet. Just missing the hair dryer for the morning!

Overpriced with no amenities. Won't go back. $12 for parking was absurd. Take my word for it.

Ask the Community - Courtyard by Marriott Waterbury Downtown

My husband is in the military, is planning to return to stateside within the next couple of months. My question is, since I do not know his date of arrival in CT., is it possible when he arrives, that I can call for immendiate occupation?

Very likely that you can. As long as there are no major events/ conventions in the area, you've got a pretty good shot at getting a room.

Hampton Inn Waterbury - Guest room

Hampton Inn Waterbury

The Hampton Inn Waterbury is an older but well-maintained hotel located right off I-84 just west of…read moredowntown Waterbury, near Naugatuck Valley Community College and the former Chase Collegiate School campus. I booked ahead on Hilton.com, and check-in and check-out were smooth and hassle-free. The hallway corridors reflect the age of the hotel, but my room on the 4th floor was very clean and well-appointed -- featuring a pair of comfortable queen beds, updated furniture, a large LED TV with plenty of content, complimentary Wi-Fi, and individual HVAC controls on the wall next to the bed. It was equipped with a dorm-sized mini-fridge and a coffee maker with four pods (note: there was no microwave in the room). The recently renovated bathroom offered ample counter space for personal items, along with refillable wall-mounted soap and shampoo dispensers. Daily housekeeping was on point, making the beds and swapping in fresh towels each day. The property also offers terrific guest amenities for a 2.5 to 3-star hotel, including a small but well-equipped fitness center, an indoor pool, and the trademark Hampton Inn complimentary all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet. The buffet features scrambled and hard-boiled eggs, sausage, a make-your-own waffle station, yogurt, cold cereals, hot oatmeal, fresh fruit, and coffee -- and the staff does a great job keeping everything topped off. There is only a handful of individual tables for diners, but there is a large communal table in the middle of the room. The only real downside is that the convenient highway access comes with traffic noise. My even-numbered room faced the back of the hotel directly overlooking I-84, and the passing traffic woke me up a few times throughout the night. Overall, it's a very clean, well-managed property with attentive staff, and I would stay here again with just one tweak to my room selection. Pro Tip: Ask for an odd-numbered room when checking in! My even-numbered room faced I-84, whereas odd-numbered rooms face the front/parking lot side and are much quieter.

Holiday Hill - Two pools

Holiday Hill

I came to Holiday Hill a few months ago for a senior trip. It was definitely very fun, however,…read moreeach student had to pay a large amount of money to be able to come on the trip. This may have just been how my school set the event up. The staff were all very respectful and fun and were always working at and cleaning the areas provided. There were live games and events being held on the field, and at one point there was even a dance floor being supervised by a DJ at one point. Food was being served all day, from breakfast items to a DIY taco bar to the grill, there's no chance that you're going to be hungry. Also, the date we came, we got unlimited cotton candy and popcorn! Also set up a little by the cotton candy area was an unlimited ice cream truck with some fun choices. For activities, there were tons of options, including 2 pools for use, live games on the field, kayaks and canoes on the pond (which I didn't get to try due to the fact that it was packed 24/7), unlimited snacks and food, a bounce house obstacle course, a rock climbing wall, and even a trampoline-bungee fusion thing. The only issue I had was when my other friend and I tried to search for the horses- the signs were a bit misleading and we never got to see them. Overall, a very fun place to go for a one-day event outing! Definitely recommend.

I absolutely loved this place growing up I went for three years in middle school and my senior…read moreouting I went again years later for my company picnic. This time it was for a smaller group event so the package wasn't as big. They did have some new things this year like a warrior course and extra bounce houses but it used to have horses I'm sad that those are gone. The bathrooms are in desperate need of updates the toilets are really crooked in all of the stalls there are notices to use paper towels on the walls yet they don't have paper towel holders. The donuts and muffins for breakfast we're not very good. The taco bar was delicious we got burgers hot dogs and a small buffet of chicken corn and coleslaw and potato salad they still have the ice cream truck where you can get unlimited ice cream and cotton candy and popcorn which are my favorite parts of Holiday Hill they have paddle boats and kayaks two pools those changing rooms need to be updated as well. There's a bunch of abandoned buildings on property that I believe used to have something to do with a camp. They have a lot of sport activities like ping Pong volleyball basketball tennis and mini golf. One of the mini golf holes is clogged and doesn't let the ball go through into the other spot like it's supposed to. It's nice for an outing but it definitely needs a lot of updates.
