Formerly the headquarter for Atlas Life Insurance Company, this building has been repurposed into a Courtyard by Marriott. The iconic neon sign once belonging to Atlas Life still remains and lights up at night. In fact, a lot of the building's charm has been retained. Walk through the doors, and have your breath taken away. You have basically walked back in time - the lobby level with its Art Deco design and decorated ceiling does not look like it has changed much at all aside from the businesses that are occupying the space there now. Take the stairs or the elevators one floor up to the hotel lobby. This is where it looks a lot more modern. I checked in late at night, and I had the pleasure of being checked in by the general manager who was covering the overnight shift. The check-in process was quick and smooth, and I appreciated the conversation about the building and its history. Getting to the guest rooms require key access. The rooms are large and spacious with plenty of windows. Even if your room does not have a view, you will at least get a beautiful dose of natural light when the weather is nice. I stayed in a traditional room, but book a historic room for a small additional fee if you want more of the building's historical feel. My room was clean, and I had no issues with the hot water. However, if it takes you a moment to get hot water, just keep in your realistic mind that you are in a building that has been around for almost 100 years. Amenities include free internet, a little fitness center, and a free airport shuttle. There is no pool so take a walk and enjoy downtown instead. Parking is available for a fee. The Courtyard Tulsa Downtown is a great place to stay for many reasons. The convenience of its downtown location is a major plus. Its uniqueness is another plus. Most Courtyard hotels are cookie-cutters of each other, but this one is actually different due to it being in a historic building. Some people love walking into a hotel and it being the exact same layout and everything regardless of where they are, but I am the opposite. Should I visit Tulsa again, I would want to stay here again.

Mostly quiet, this older hotel is converted from an office building so it's a completely different layout than nearly every other Courtyard that I've patronized. Not better, not worse. Just different. The street entrance is on the ground floor, the restaurant and check-in desks are on the second floor and the hotel rooms go up from there. My room on the 11th floor had a window but no view. It was clean, it was quiet and it was comfortable. The king bed was firm enough, the walk-in shower was great with plenty of water pressure. The folks who serviced the room every day did a great job. Coffee service, big flat screen TV, mini-fridge and a work desk. The hotel's wifi worked great. That said, downtown Tulsa isn't exactly a happening place. Yes, there are a couple of bars and restaurants. But not much. Pro tip: Street parking after 6pm until 8am is free (at least it is in 2016). Save your $15 a day valet parking and find a spot on the street!

We stayed here overnight on our drive from Dallas to Chicago. We didn't arrive until nearly 2am, but the night shift guy was pretty friendly and helpful. Room-wise, this Courtyard is probably the best one I've been to. Everything was clean and new. Here's how to get hot water folks!!!

We are Marriott Rewards members, a fan of the Marriott properties because we love to try and accumulate points for a free stay...Don't you love free stays?? This is another Marriott that I enjoyed..Wish I were here longer to use their amenities but I wasn't - oh well. We had to take an elevator to get to their check-in. The first floor had a couple foo-foo boutiques, my fave! More knicks and knacks to add on top of my other knick knacks...Hubby was glad that we got in late because they were closed. The check in was lovely...very nice lady welcomed us in...there is their typical Market pantry...thank God they had milk for my child, a big plus! Checked out their breakfast/Starbucks area...Nice! Large King was quite comfy...Then there was the shower...I was trying to enjoy my late night "hot" shower, and was highly disappointed when it maxed out at "luke" hot. The next morning, hubby shows me the sign next to the shower door that read "due to the historic nature of the building (ancient 1922), you must run the shower and faucet simultaneously for 2 min to resolve the hot water issue". He did as instructed, and out came the HOT water!! How did my 5'2" (if that) not see that??! It was right on front of me! Must've been tired...Overall, nice hotel, in a city that seems like a flop on a Friday night...But, I did see some Xmas shops nearby...Can't wait!

    Awesome bartenders.

I spent the weekend in Tulsa and I was very pleased with the location, the staff, my room and the amenities. The service here is excellent. My daughter hosted a reception on the second floor lobby and the bartenders created a signature drink to match her color scheme. And the drinks were delicious. The hotel is located inside the Atlas Life Building that was built in 1922. A cool feature of the hotel is the 7th floor. It's all old times in the hallway with the original floors and the door knobs and letter slots are still there. I'm thinking the ghosts probably hang out on that floor. My room was on the 8th floor fortunately. I'm not a coffee person personally but they do have Starbucks. A variety of restaurants are also within walking distance. I would definitely recommend!

This is the street-level first floor which remains basically original. The hotel lobby is one floor up.

This is in addition to the challenge of scheduling times available for use. Fly Loft used to be ridiculously affordable in the past, having a special nonprofit rate of $15 per hour. Recently, they have had to increase their rates to $25 an hour which is still reasonable, but it's getting closer to what other for profit studios charge. I'm not sure what the reasoning behind the increase is but I'm thinking it might be pandemic or staff shortage related. Overall, Fly Loft has been such a life saver! All the staff I've had to deal with (3 different ones) are extremely friendly, attentive and accommodating. It's great to have a smooth process for scheduling recurring practices. Mallory is usually the one that is working when we use the space and she's super helpful, whether sharing the wi-fi password or opening the mirror curtains for us. In terms of the space, they have three rehearsal spaces available, all with sprung floors which offer increased support for joints and muscles and reduces fatigue in the legs when leaping/jumping, etc. They each have mirrors on the east wall, acoustic sound bars around the room and a speaker system with plug input. The only thing that varies between the spaces is size. The first space is the biggest one, with capacity for 150 people. The second space has a capacity for 120 people and the third space is the smallest with 80 max occupancy. They also have a conference room for up to 16 guests and other rental options like projectors, screens, tables, etc.

So I say it's "multipurpose in a weird way" because it's a place where people work, but that other people rent out to use too. If it were me working there, I'd probably get distracted by other people coming in to practice different stuff, but I guess it works. And to be fair, I'm sure the building is probably bigger than what I think it is/ what I've seen of it, because I've never really run into any of the office spaces/ Symphony workers before. Or maybe that's just because I've only been during non traditional working hours? I don't know, but long story short, it seemingly hasn't been an issue to have it be used for different purposes. I've been there for different things probably 4 or 5 times. I always think it's nice. When you walk in, there's a front desk, an elevator, and stairs. When you go up the stairs, it's kind of like a hallway that has a few different rooms. On the right side are the offices, which seem fairly small but I haven't actually looked inside, and on the left side are the more rehearsal space type rooms. I think there's only 2 or 3 of them, and I believe they are about the same size? Black dance floors with one wall as a full mirror. That's about it, so it's pretty basic/ simple in the rooms themselves, like most other similar spaces. One of the cool things to me about Fly Loft is that they have a little kitchen that you can (I think?) use. Well, I've never used it myself nor have I seen anyone else use it while I've been there, so maybe it's only for the people who actually work there, but I can't imagine that that's the case. I just think having that is a nice little extra element to have. It's almost kind of comforting to have it there. It makes it feel like a more "official" space too. The only real thing I don't like about Fly Loft is the parking situation. It's downtown (so, enough said!) and they don't really have their own lot, just a few spaces right out front, and even those I don't believe are free most of the time. Main reason for 4 stars instead of 5, though I know it's not really THEIR fault. It also isn't able to hold TONS of people (because other than the rooms it's kind of just a wide-ish hallway) but it's good for what it's good for. Overall a cool, in-the-city type of atmosphere, so I like having rehearsals here... again, I just wish I didn't have to stress about where to park!
