First, the staff is very friendly here. Had to switch rooms 2 times due to room issues and mechanical issues, including no hot water when I got to room #2 to get a shower. 3rd room desperately needed a remodel. The sink facet cold/hot handle was also on backwards in one of the rooms. If you ever travel, which I do a lot as a trainer make sure you check the ice machines at whatever hotel you go to. Use caution if you use it as a consumable. Always inspect. This is what I found at this Marriott Hotel location. Mold growth everywhere and check the date on the filter. 2018. Wow ! This Hammond Marriott hotel in particular was really dirty and in need of a makeover. Elevator floor tiles were shattered, no attention to detail anywhere. Very dirty in common areas. The bathroom was falling apart. I had such respect for the brand and it's high standards. Not sure what happened or where the failure rests. Marriott brand has really gone down hill the past few years. Seems like No corporate oversight and high standards being maintained. Sometimes I wish they would hire me to inspect their hotels to prevent these very preventable things from ruining what used to be a solid brand that held to high standards. My loyalty is quickly fading as this is becoming the norm, not the exception these days. My third negative experience in a few short months. I can only hope they see this post and start to make necessary changes and listen to their customers who are only trying to help.

Fridge didn't work. AC under fridge table. Thermostat didn't work.

Very disappointed with this place. I'm surprised that Marriott corporation hasn't pulled their affiliation. Poor customer service; unfriendly staff. I can deal with that, but the place was filthy. Have traveled 40 weeks a year for 20 years and this was one of the worst. Hallway carpets were heavily stained. Elevator dirty. Room: Super heavy soap scum on glass shower door (thought it was frosted glass at first). Light fixtures missing. Thermostat on wall had been disabled and air conditioning ran 24/7. Furniture worn and torn. Refrigerator didn't work. Bed was hard; old mattress. Never again!

Trash in front of the hotel

Unfortunately, my experience here was very similar to a lot of others that have reviewed this hotel. Arrived to the hotel to see trash thrown all around the trash can. People are A holes to do that in the first place, I don't expect people to do the right thing, but I would expect the hotel to take pride in keeping their property looking nice. Mobile check in and mobile key were offered, I still had to stop by the desk, so what's the point? Staff was friendly, no issues there, but the hotel is dirty and needs renovated. In my room, the thermostat did not work, or the AC unit just wasn't up to the job of cooling the room. There was a strong mildew smell in the room, there was a film on the shower glass, and there were stains throughout the room. My refrigerator was too big for the cabinet it was in, not a big deal, but again I would expect the Marriott to take more pride in their facilities and I expect more from a room that was $170+ per night during my stay.

The key to happiness is low expectations. This is by far the worst experience. Why offer mobile check-in and not utilize it? Was not greeted as a loyalty member, initially given room 204 which had a large tear in the couch and a giant crack in the shower wall. Moved to room 220 where it smelled and was ridiculously hot. The thermostat was torn off the wall, there was hair ball near the door, curtains not properly hung, shower damaged and not cleaned. The bar was not open nor the bistro the following morning . The market was not properly stocked. Disappointing to say the least. I know I will be back in Hammond at least once and will be researching another place to stay.

Had to get out own fan due to the room being hot

PLEASE READ PRIOR TO BOOKING OR CANCEL WHILE YOU CAN‼ My family loves Marriott hotels and like many as member of Marriott we frequent their hotels. The front desk lady was pleasant but I could she was frustrated as she was trying to handle a complaint in person, one on the phone and then one from the gentleman who went to his room and came right back down who was 2 spaces ahead of me while I was waiting to check in. The facility, common area was nice and clean but the only thing open was the mini mart next to the check in desk. Upon check in I gave my credit card and checked in easily which was great or so I thought only to find out I was double charged and then also they added an additional hold of $350. In total I currently have $1,000 pending on my credit card. We finally get to the room and as soon as we walk in the room felt very warm although the air conditioner said it was on 60 yet it was reading 72 which was also wrong because the room was hot. Immediately called downstairs and a gentleman came up quickly! We thought he was maintenance but he was not just a worker he said and wasn't too sure what was wrong and maybe because the shade wasn't all the way closed it why it was hot (not likely, air conditioner was set on 60 and the room was hot). We had to literally get a fan for the duration of our stay. Then we find small ants on the table as well as by the coffee maker. The actual room was nice and clean but a hot room and with small ants was not acceptable at all. We were told nothing could be done but we could call the general manager starting Tuesday and her name is Letitica Cotton. Finally the day of check out! Knock at the door at 817am and it was housekeeping walking in our room & asking what time we were leaving. I was very upset as we had small kids who were sleeping as well as my husband who was getting as much rest in this uncomfortable room prior to hitting the road. The place needs some minor repairs but the air conditioner needs major repairs. Lastly, the couple a few doors down from us was leaving around 10am when we were and they took had fans that they went to purchase because their room was hot & was literally told the same thing as us. If you can avoid this hotel I know the name makes you think it must nice but NO check out other hotels in the area.

Update: Yes my stay here started out very rocky, but the staff was more than accommodating. Veronica, the AGM, was very apologetic and personally hand picked my new room. Apparently they are in the process of renovations due to some recent water damage. The front desk clerk, Ryan, was very helpful and handled the situation in a very professional manner. Highly disappointed being that this is part of the Marriott chain. Had this been the first Marriott I stayed in I would not want to give this hotel chain another chance. Now don't get me wrong it's not a roach motel or anything, but c'mon Courtyard, you all could do better! I had to change rooms because the AC unit in my first room was so loud I honestly thought it would blow up and give out at any moment. The room smells of mildew as if there has been water damage and by the looks of the walls and bathroom I believe there may have been. The second room I'm in is just OK. The sofa bed was tossed in disarray as if someone had attempted to clean it but didn't put it back together, smh. Had there been a Drury in the nearby vicinity I would have surely stayed there. Fortunately I'm only in town on business for 3 days so I'll manage...

I checked in today coming in from South Texas (long drive) was looking fwd to staying in a Courtyard Marriott. This hotel is disgusting! They do not enforce masks although there is a sign in the front entrance stating mandatory masks in Louisiana (joke) My husband said something because we are traveling with our daughter and the manager gave him a smug look. Pictures uploaded of our nasty hotel room and bathroom accommodations. Thought this Marriott would be better, beware travelers. There are 9 ppl downstairs no masks drinking beers coming in and out with beers. Don't necessarily care about the alcohol more concerned about the non mask compliance. Sad.

Shower floor with mold and mildew
    Sherrie B.

This is by far the worst Marriott property I have ever stayed at. The mold and mildew in my shower is disgusting and when asking the front desk they say it's because hurricane Ida- I wanted to laugh because this hotel didn't flood or receive damage from Ida. You can't see through the shower door because it looks as if it's never been cleaned and I was told that's because of hard water- really!!! Honestly I felt like I was in a $29.99 special motel but worse! The housekeeping staff here can't be doing their jobs and management is clearly not managing. My air conditioner was broken and wouldn't cool the room and looked like it was a decade old- the filters in it were disgusting and haven't been cleaned- I highly recommend never staying at this property.

    Dirty phone in room.

Please just don't even bother staying at this hotel. I have not stayed at a Courtyard that is so badly kept. My coworkers and I live in hotels essentially for a living and end up at this hotel at least three times a month but finally we have the straw that broke the camels back. On the first of the month we stayed at this hotel and the smoke alarms were going off, I understand things happen so I didn't bring it up to anyone's attention. The second time about two weeks later we stayed at the hotel and they were still going off! At this point I requested a talk to a general manager and left my callback number and a message with no callback after a week. And now today my company apparently hasn't gotten the message to not book is here anymore as I walked into the hotel I asked about the smoke detectors and I could tell that the front desk knew exactly what I was talking about as it's been a problem for the past few months but still has not fixed the problem THEY STRAIGHT UP TOLD ME "you might wanna stay somewhere else because they still go off". Not only is the hotels smoke detectors a problem but the overall cleanliness of the room is subpar. Ice left in the icebox from the previous tenants. Gross looking wallpaper behind the toilet. Pubic hairs on (clean) towels. Somethings never change in this hotel seems to not care about anything but the money. I'd like for the general manager to reach out to me. Until then I'll be waiting for corporate office to call me.

Wallpaper stained behind the toilet - hard to find an explanation for this.
    Lynette B.

While the staff member who checked us in was nice, room 516 needs renovation and the mildew removed. Room clearly smelled of mildew when we walked in - not the bathroom, the actual room. There was hair on the ceiling in the bathroom, the shower wall wasn't clean, and the wall paper behind the toilets is stained fluorescent green. There was what appeared to be water damage along the edge where the ceiling and wall meet in the room and mildew on the wall. All the light switch plates were warped with black yuck behind them. The lobby, halls, and elevator appeared clean. We were too tired to change rooms or drive on farther.

    Ants in bathroom

Nasty Nasty Gross pics say it all. Mold on the walls, Stained bathroom ceiling with ????, Stained walls, Stained couch. OMG will NEVER stay here again. It obvious from reviews & pics I'm not the only one Grossed out by this Courtyard in Hammond, LA. If I could rate it a negative number I would.

Water damage from the second room I was moved to. The only reason I didn't check out was because I was exhausted from a 12 hour drive.

So disappointed in a brand new hotel. My first room had so much water damaged that I asked to be moved due to the smell and how humid it was. The rug felt wet! The second room was just as bad. I wish I would have taken pictures of the room but the wall paper was falling off, water marks on the walls and ceiling. This is a brand new hotel!! Marriott please check this location. I'm a Platinum Elite, I have platinum status for life. This is hotel is poorly ran. I'll post pictures I do have.

Nice facility, nice hospitality, and nice amenities. There's breakfast in the morning. It's cheap but it's not complimentary. Since you have to pay, you might as well walk to iHop right across the way.

And this location is no different. In mid-September, I had a two week assignment in Hammond, LA. While there were other hotel options that caught my eye, I knew Home2Suites would have what I'm looking for: spotless rooms with a comfortable bed, a mini-kitchen area, great breakfast, large exercise room, and a modern/snazzy lobby area with plenty of space and electronic sockets. That's exactly what you get here. Plus the room also has a large comfortable couch where you can plop down in when you're exhausted. The staff is uber friendly and they cleaned my room every day. The rooms are pretty big and cute, with a mini kitchen (good sized fridge, microwave, sink) and working areas, and the included breakfast here was far far far better than anticipated! They had Arby's style potato cakes (could be crispier, but splitting hairs) that I prefer much more over those lame breakfast potato cubes, slices of cheese if you wanted to make yourself a sausage and cheese (biscuit) sandwich, cheddar egg bites, and tasty yogurt! And the sauces, Nashville hot sauce, yes please! Also they do have 2 EV charging spots through Blink, which is helpful. Would recommend!

However, if you value your safety, I highly recommend you do not stay at La Quinta in Hammond Louisiana. I was greeted by the fresh smell of weed as I arrived. I was immediately grossed out, but wish that's all that happened while I was there. The bathroom, which I'm pretty sure supplied used toiletries, had mold around the bathtub. The curtain was filthy. The fluorescent lights made me feel like I was in a factory. While the surrounding areas had clean cut grass, the hotel itself had at least a foot of grass...possibly to hide the broken glass that was all around ... not to mention, the human feces. We felt very unsafe both because it was quite evident that there were attempted break-ins on all the doors... And then there was the drug deal that happened next door, in the parking lot and the stairwell. That one was fun. The dirty ice machine, and caution tape that had fallen into the dark green pool gave me the feeling of wanting to douse myself in antibacterial solution. We did our best this morning to pack the car up and get our fourteen-year-old out of there- while keeping our eyes down so as not to disrupt any drug dealings. I stayed one night at Day's Inn in Hammond, Louisiana…read more My first impression was the check-in clerk. Reminded me of a police office I used to work with at a police academy. Felt cold and unwelcoming. My first impression of the room was not good, in fact staying here was a regrettable decision. I only stayed here because of the reviews I read and because I am a Wyndham member. When I opened the door, the room reeked of a stale swamp mixed with cigarette smoke in my non-smoking room. I choose not smoking rooms because I expect a cleaner environment and air. Smoke and allergens can trigger asthma in some people. Further into the room and near the sink area, it smelled like stinky socks or dirty underwear. Everything stinks in this room, even the bedding has a distinct smell of smoke, which makes me wonder if the cleaning person smokes. I opened the front door to the outside despite the humidity. Three hours to try and air the room, but it didn't work. I made sure to take my allergy medicine because the air in the room was making me cough. I woke up several times due to the bad air in the room, finally around 5 AM I turned off the air conditioner and that seemed to help. I could hear large amounts of water in the air conditioner swishing around as it turned off, which tells me, the mildew and mold swamp smell probably comes from it, especially since its not the kind of air conditioner with a drain on the back to get rid of the water. The carpet smells like mildew or mold too. I never took my socks off while in this room, except to shower. When I first entered the room, I began turning on the lights so I could take photos and when I walked into the sink area began to slip and fall because the tile was slippery and wet for some reason. I had to take a bath towel and wipe the floor dry. Can't think of a reason why a room floor that should of been cleaned five hours before I arrived would be slippery. The mini-refrigerator didn't seem to work. I checked its temperature setting and it was dialed to its coldest setting, but it wasn't cold, so I kept my food and medicine in my ice chest. This room had a table and chair which I cleaned the top of to work from, I couldn't trust my health to a dirty table, considering how poorly cleaned the rest of the room appeared to be. The rest room was probably the cleanest area, but I didn't feel like eating or working from the toilet. It had a small sofa couch and table. Normally, I'd sit on a sofa chair like this to do my work, but again, of all the motels and hotels I have stayed in, it just didn't feel like I should risk it. since they can't even manage the very minimal basic cleaning standards of a room. The TV worked but when I tried to power it off, the remote power button didn't work. I had to unplug the TV. When I plugged the TV back in, it turned on. I couldn't locate any manual buttons on the actual tv. Selecting a channel was dis-ambiguous and it had only a few channels. The Air Conditioner is cold enough, but due to the horrid smells of this room, I checked its filters and they were really dirty and hadn't been cleaned, so I cleaned the air filters to help reduce respiratory issues. The bedding smelled like cigarette smoke. The bed was squishy and lumpy like a worn out pillow, and the little square pillows were to firm. I woke up with a sore neck. Considering I have to drive 10 or more hours leaving here, its less than desirable. I woke up multiple times during the night. In all sincerity, I would have had a more comfortable nights rest if I had slept in my Honda Element at a truck stop for free and still would of had free internet and shower. The windows couldn't be opened, or I'd have cracked them open to air the room over night. I took photos which show the amenities if you really think you want to stay here. In my other reviews I discuss the amenities in detail, but I disliked this stay so much, I don't want to bother. As I am writing this review, I just heard, "Police! Open up" outside at a near-by room.
