(This review is solely for the service and food at the private banquet for 100+ I attended today) OK, have you ever attended a private party, say for 100 folks, and headed over to the dreaded buffet line with low expectations? No crispy French fries or rock hard chicken tenders here- we had an absolutely terrific meal. Green salad, Caprese Salad platters, crisp sautéed vegetables, two types of pasta, roast potatoes, Chicken Marsala, steak, and rolls. The food was piping hot, and the minute a serving tray started looking thin, a replacement tray was whipped into place. My meal was great. The star of my plate was the Chicken Marsala. Perfectly cooked moist and tender chicken in a velvety mushroom sauce with plenty of sliced mushrooms. The kitchen and service staff handled a 100 guest luncheon like it was a table for three. I was very impressed.

Checked in yesterday evening on business just for one night. It's an older building from the outside but they've done well with the large lounge and restaurant area. I was checked in very promptly and appreciated the customer service. Room is more than satisfactory. I was upgraded to a room with a jacuzzi but it's not much to speak of...just a larger bathtub with more shower space. I wouldn't mind staying here again if in the area again. I asked if they had a Samsung cell phone charger to spare (I left mine on the airplane on my flight into Hartford) from any left in the past from guests, as I understood most hotels don't mind giving these away from the stash they usually have. The fact that the woman at the front desk said they didn't have any available was a joke and unappreciated. That was a bit disappointing.

New lounge area.

This made me curious so I asked more questions. I asked her is this something that you add automatically? She said yes, then I asked how do you know who even has a car parked and who doesn't? She said it's just an automatic charge. I asked, is there some type of form you need to fill out with your license plate number or something? She said no. This is the craziest policy I've ever heard and It made me wonder how many people have been ripped off with this ridiculous fee lol. I was literally dumbfounded. Our TV didn't work in our room, I call front desk and spoke to the same "ball of fire" at the front desk to let her know this and she said, "I'll send maintenance up." Maintenance came up just to tell us he doesn't know how to fix these smart tv's and its supposed to be another company that fixes them, he said he would let the front desk know it's not working lol I never received a call back from the front desk. Wasted time! Long story short I fixed the tv myself by unplugging it for about 10 minutes so it could reset. I hate staying here but it's literally the only available option that's close to my family when I come in from out of state. Each time I hope for it to get better but it doesn't lol. Not to mention every time I have come to this hotel to stay and it's a lot, The staff are always different there's never long term employees here, which says a lot.

The last time we stayed here I believe the owner was at the front desk and he was quite wonderful . The girl that us out was a completely different vibe. We liked her This hotel is very nice. Stayed here for the first time back in March funeral and came back again because we had another funeral to attend coincidentally enough we got the exact same room we had in March, which is totally crazy because in March I booked direct with the hotel. This time around I booked through Booking.com because it was cheaper. Room was beautiful like the first time & while I love the bathroom, as another yelper said there's no fan in the bathroom to any noises when you go to the bathroom. We went to the tavern around 8 pm and had a couple of drinks, which was nice. I recommend the blushing bride and the Empress on main.

It would be an understatement to say this motel is a Connecticut Department Of Social Services…read morefacility. If you are going to stay here, you must realize a significant portion of the guests are "transient" and have little incentive to abide by social norms. The staff makes some attempt to mitigate that, but they don't want to jeopardize a reliable income stream. My room rate was low. The motel should still provide me with the advertised amenities, in particular a working refrigerator and reliable internet. The refrigerator barely gets down to 57 degrees F. When I pointed out my milk would spoil, they at first said milk can safely be stored at 60 degrees, then they suggested I store my food in a refrigerator accessible to ALL guests !!! When I went to get several tubs of ice, they complained I am taking too much ice. It appears some social services agency has a contract with the motel. People with little incentive to live within social norms stay here on an ongoing basis. They leave beer cans outside their doors, and smoke inside the motel. I am woken by crying babies, and arguments by people sounding intoxicated. People walk in off the street to get free coffee and reload their coolers with ice. I guess the staff does not intervein as they know the people will be gone by the time the police arrive. Another guest stopped me in the hall to ask for money. I have never seen bugs, though other guests have told me I must be one of the luck few. When I first got here, the room smelled like it had just been painted. There is plenty of hot water, coffee, sweetener, and creamer (up until about 2pm).

These rooms are great for longer stays, or if you're looking to save money. Good size kitchen with full size fridge. Comes stocked with silverware, pots, plates, etc. The bed was very comfortable and the a/c worked great the whole time we were there. Bathroom is a good size with the sink separate from the shower and toilet. Everyone I've encountered has been very friendly and helpful. Super convenient location too since it's located right off of I-91. The only things I will say is that the room are sightly dated and could use some upgrading. Our couch didn't have a ton of support when we sat on it, and some of the other items looked like they have been there for years. The other thing is the breakfast. It's pretty crappy with just some toast options, yogurt and juice. I know they say it's because of "Covid" but I just stayed in 3 other hotels while driving down to Florida, and they all had way better breakfasts with hot food too. But overall, it's a comfortable spot with a great location, nothing fancy but it gets the job done.

It's also dirty, not kept up with broken bathroom shelving and dark/dingy. To make matters worse, desk help chases me out of breakfast room because I have a service animal?! What?!? She is small, totally quiet and very well trained. I am SO embarrassed!!! Policeman shows up and talks to the desk clerk. Worst residence Inn experience EVER- Ugh!! I have dealt with most of…read morethe owners and workers over the years, been through the renovation process and even COVID years. The layout of the rooms in the double king room suite are just what our little family needs. plenty of space, neat layout, two TVs and sofa in the room. Since the renovation, there is no padding under the carpets, so walking is heard all through the hotel. Also hard on the knees. Kids running is a nightmare sound upstairs. Hotel has issues for sure - probably due to revenue issues. Our current trip the door lock did not work with the key (door lock battery was drained) - second room, same thing, battery down. That issue was fixed when we left for the day, so that was a forced issue fix. Our room was fine this time, AC worked, TVs worked, great shower and clean. As others have stated, there is no breakfast served anymore (SEP2024 - so not a COVID thing - must be revenue issue) Sad to see when you cannot even get a cup of coffee out there (who trusts the in room coffee maker??) There are some workers who are pretty short with guests, so I have had that too - but not this trip. Overall, the location and room type is what we seek when in the area, and this room and the 110$ rate cannot be beat - 2 kings, sofa, 2 TVs is a great space with kids - we can overlook the other shortcomings - though as stands - a 5 star rating is pretty hard to come by, but 4s are easy...

If it was all about the cleanliness and Quality of the room, this review would get 5 stars. Plus the value is great. The reason this review has 2 stars is because of my experience checking in. He snapped at me several times including with his request for my car info. The week before, I had stayed at the Comfort Suites in the same town and also dealt with a rude employee. What's going on in this town? I really think someone should investigate this. The customer service is unacceptable!
