Stayed here for an overnight for a military ball. Front desk staff and hotel staff in general was friendly. Our room was spacious, on the third floor and was very clean, however one of the lamps in the room did not work. There was a small coffee bar with pods provided, and water cups. Shower had good water pressure and there was ample towels provided. The bed was comfortable but the pillows sucked. The room they had our event in was spacious, and clean as well. They served food (one meat (chicken), mashed potatoes and two different times of veggies, three different salad options with dressings and an assortment of breads. Dinner was great, desserts were so so. But they did have a large assortment of those as well. Water, lemonade & iced tea were all available on each table and there was also a bar available for cocktails or beers. I'd recommend using this space for future events for anyone looking. read more

Only picked this location because it was chosen for a wedding hotel block. Big line at 3pm for check in on a Thursday. Shower was very low end. The shampoo, conditioner, and body wash pumps barely had any soap in them. There was a crack in the tile floor. Walking around barefoot you could feel wet spots underneath the carpet near the door. Wouldn't stay here again unless I was being forced to. read more

I had some business to take care of in Middletown, Connecticut and this Courtyard by Marriott was close by, so I decided to stay here. I was here during the COVID-19 pandemic, so the hotel was fairly quite. Along those lines, the main area where they offer breakfast food was closed off. However, they made sure that there health protocols set up such as hand sanitizer dispensers and one family per elevator and gym restrictions. The room that I had was quite basic, but was appropriate. There was a main living space with a TV, couch (with a bed inside), sink and table. That was separated by a door from the bedroom and then the bathroom. It was typical, but good quality. There are a lot of restaurants nearby to pick up some food. This includes a Chilli's in the same parking lot and a shopping center across the street with many restaurants and a Starbucks. The staff here was nice and made it easy to check in. They were also helpful in answering any questions that I may have had. Altogether, this is a typical Courtyard by Marriott, which I appreciate given its convenient location, cozy rooms and friendly staff. read more

I had a horrible stay and ended up going to another hotel in the area. When I got to my room, everything seemed fine. But later that night when I was about to get into bed, I noticed the sheets looked dirty and what looked like bed bugs. I went to the front desk to get a new room and the person started giving me a difficult time. They eventually agreed to switch rooms and give me a discounted rate. The next day, a different person at the front desk told me they wouldn't be able to give me the discounted rate. I explained the situation and told them I was already told I would get the discounted rate. The person refused to help and gave me a huge attitude. After some arguing I gave them the room key, checked out and went to a different hotel. I'll never go here again! They were completely rude and and unprofessional. I wouldn't recommend anyone stay here until they get better management. read more

(This review is solely for the service and food at the private banquet for 100+ I attended today) OK, have you ever attended a private party, say for 100 folks, and headed over to the dreaded buffet line with low expectations? No crispy French fries or rock hard chicken tenders here- we had an absolutely terrific meal. Green salad, Caprese Salad platters, crisp sautéed vegetables, two types of pasta, roast potatoes, Chicken Marsala, steak, and rolls. The food was piping hot, and the minute a serving tray started looking thin, a replacement tray was whipped into place. My meal was great. The star of my plate was the Chicken Marsala. Perfectly cooked moist and tender chicken in a velvety mushroom sauce with plenty of sliced mushrooms. The kitchen and service staff handled a 100 guest luncheon like it was a table for three. Checked in yesterday evening on business just for one night. It's an older building from the outside but they've done well with the large lounge and restaurant area. I was checked in very promptly and appreciated the customer service. Room is more than satisfactory. I was upgraded to a room with a jacuzzi but it's not much to speak of...just a larger bathtub with more shower space. I wouldn't mind staying here again if in the area again. I asked if they had a Samsung cell phone charger to spare (I left mine on the airplane on my flight into Hartford) from any left in the past from guests, as I understood most hotels don't mind giving these away from the stash they usually have. The fact that the woman at the front desk said they didn't have any available was a joke and unappreciated. That was a bit disappointing. read more

On Christmas Eve needed a minor repair. I understood the maintenance won't be possible until the next day. They offered to move me. I stated won't be necessary. The repair didn't happen (it was Christmas). Desiree, manager came personally to us and apologized and went above and beyond to make it right. Thank you to you and your staff. The staff was a tad rude while checking in as well. The two stars are solely for the fact they serve starbucks, and the beds are decently comfortable. I really enjoyed my one night stay at Courtyard by Marriott this past weekend. The hotel's evening manager (Amanda?) was super helpful when I called before booking to ask some questions about the hotel. She was super friendly when I arrived and provided a good overview on the amenities at the hotel, including the pool. The room I stayed in was clean, modern and spacious. The manager the next day, Marco, was also super helpful and friendly. The only minor disappointment was that there wasn't complimentary coffee in the morning in the lobby. My room had a personal coffee maker and k-cups but only powdered creamer so I was hoping to find a fresh coffee station in the lobby. This wasn't a huge deal though as the friendliness of the staff and nice room, etc. still made my brief stay a great experience. I hope to stay here again in the near future! read more

Everything about this location is typical of most Courtyards by Marriott - the catered food they did for us was amazing for a hotel of this nature and I enjoyed my entire stay here! I love the updated look that Marriott has done to its Courtyard brand, all of which can be found at its Cromwell location: updated colors and decor, plentiful seating in the lounge area, lots of TVs and even booths that have their own personal TVs and power outlets in them! The little mini-mart at the front desk is well-stocked, now featuring wine and beer as well as the traditional soft drinks, snacks and sundries. In the lobby there is also a very large touch screen monitor for looking at weather, printing directions to local restaurants, and catching up on the news. You can print almost anything and also send the information to your cell phone. The location is great, as there are many restaurants in the area and it is right off of some major roads. The rooms are standard, though I found the TVs to be very tiny for such a large space. We were comfortable and there was no noise from the road or parking lot to keep us up at night. We didn't get to use the pool, but we did see it and it looked nice. There are also a number of meeting/conference rooms which gives me the impression that it is a good option for professional meetings as well. One downside that I'm sure was situational was that their phones were out during our visit, which was on Thanksgiving. We tried calling many times to let them know of our early check-in but without any luck. The phones didn't work for the two days we were at the hotel, but I can only assume they eventually got fixed. Overall, this is one of the nicer Courtyard hotels I've stayed at and I recommend it to anyone needing a place to stay in the area. read more

I recommend you stay here if you can get a room with a jacuzzi. I am one of the lucky ones! The indoor pool is great, the gym is good enough (and you can choose to instead use a real gym down the street), and did I mention my room has a jacuzzi? For the same price as any other room no less! Whoa! One of the waitresses is really not nice at all. She kind of made me feel bad for inconveniencing her by eating breakfast. I didn't even demand anything from her (other than silverware) and yet she was just so grumpy. Ack. The staff at the front desk are super nice. I ordered room service both nights I stayed here for work and it was very good. Just like any other Marriott really except for the JACUZZI!!! Can you tell I am excited about that? My family and I stay at Marriott properties all the time to reap the Marriott Reward points. This Courtyard was like most. Comfortable beds, nice atmosphere, cozy cafe in the lobby, friendly staff. Two minor items of note at this location: - Parking sucked. Parking lots were all completely full. After doing two laps looking for a spot, we followed a waitress from Chili's out to her car in the Courtyard parking lot (she probably thought we were stalking her, poor girl) so we could park and get to our room. - There are no towel bars in-reach of the shower. You either have to step outside of the tub dripping your way across the floor to get a towel off the bar, or you need to set a towel on the floor beside the tub or hang it over the curtain rod with you in the shower. read more

I'm going to have to stop myself from completely ripping this place apart. I just spent the last month here for contract negotiations with my union, so I've been jotting down every little imperfection that I saw. I never saw the inside of a normal room. This review is for their business conference/breakout rooms. The staff. Oh, the lovely staff. Whoever does the hiring here should get a pay raise, along with the rest of the staff. At least a medal or something. They are insanely accomodating. Need some tables taken out of your room? Done in minutes. Need some tables rearranged? Done before you can walk from one room to the next. Need a room unlocked for the 5000th time that day? They'll be there in a minute. Aaaand that last one brings me to my first complaint. So, yes, we hadn't originally booked a breakout room. We got stuck with the only one available, as was expected. However, why is there only one room among all of the business rooms that doesn't have keycard access? Why isn't anybody allowed to get an actual key for the door? Like I said, they were always quick to let us in, so it wasn't a huge problem. These rooms are usually only booked for a few hours, yet we were there from 7 in the morning until midnight, so they had to help us out quite a bit. Again, the staff was excellent. Another annoyance was that they don't have room service during the day, yet they have a policy forbidding outside food. Granted, we walked in with pizzas and beer, and nobody said a word. Also, these rooms are for conferences and training seminars and ponzi scheme meetings, so they expect you to use their catering service. The decor is a little outdated, but acceptable. I don't see how these conference rooms can make them too much money, so I don't blame them for holding off on rennovations. Honestly, these rooms are probably more work than it's worth to the hotel. The layout of the business rooms is a little wonky. Instead of having a kitchen in the basement, they have an area kind of woven into the conference room area, creating this crazy labyrinth. Sadly, I never encountered one muppet or David Bowie in shiny tights. This setup also causes the rooms to randomly start smelling like onions when the kitchen fires up. Oh, and plan on hearing trucks making deliveries early in the morning. On one of the first days we were there, the automatic soap dispenser in one of the bathrooms broke. They came right out with bars of soap. That soap dispenser was still broken at the end of the month. I don't know what the holdup was. However, one of the toilets broke, and they had it fixed within the hour. Okay, that's long enough. To summarize: the staff is as good as it gets. The business areas are outdated, and occasionaly smell of onions. I don't have any experience with other hotel business conference room areas, but this one is acceptable. I would go back. In three years, I'll probably be spending another month here. read more

As I pulled in to attend a one day conference here, I was thinking "oh man, this place looks dumpy"...but to be fair it looked like they were remodeling the outside. It's set back near a shopping plaza but close to I-91. The breakfast and lunch was the best conference food I've ever had. Breakfast has such a different variety with little bagel cups, fruits, pastries and more. Coffee and tea was available throughout the day. Staff were all courteous and the lobby was nice. Conference rooms were up to date for the most part. I'd definitely stay here if I didn't like me 10min away. read more

We stayed here on a weekend to attend a wedding in the area. The rooms are updated and clean and the staff was friendly and accommodating . The hotel is in an area surrounded by restaurants and stores right off the highway . I only have 2 complaints. #1 the shower water pressure is so strong I felt like I was showering under a pressure washer. Trying to adjust the shower head was futile because all it did was make the pressure harder . #2. After getting back to the hotel after the wedding and having a pretty good buzz I thought it would be in our best interest to get a couple of bottles of water to rehydrate . I had them billed to the room . Upon receiving the bill for the room that night I noticed 2 food charges for $2.50 . I asked what was $2.50 and they said a bottle of water is $2.50. Now let me clarify something . This water is not Perrier, voss or anything fancy It's Dasani a damn Pepsi cola product . So for $5 bucks we got 2 bottles of cheap purified water . Do yourself a favor stop and one of the many stores and grab your own drinks to save a couple bucks . read more

Cons: might seem trivial, but only 1 small garbage pail in the room is not enough, parking: the hotel shares a parking lot with a Chilis so parking is difficult during dinner hours and on the weekends. Taylor and the team at the Marriott Courtyard in Cromwell were a dream to work with for my wedding hotel block. To be honest, this hotel was my second choice when another hotel in town was fully booked...but truly it was for the best! Taylor was super accommodating and responsive -- I must have e-mailed and called her at least a dozen times with questions and she never seemed bothered and was always extremely helpful. My parents were a little stressed about the amount of stuff we needed to get to the venue as well as the hotel welcome bags and Taylor was wonderful and let us drop everything off early, easing their worries! The blocked rooms were, I thought, a great value for guests for a renovated hotel so near the venue. Our kid guests loved the pool! We had an informal after party outside by the fire pit and everyone had a great time. We also hosted a morning-after brunch in the hotel which I also thought was a very good value for all the food -- and service was great. Highly recommend! read more

Last Saturday (1/12) we had my sisters baby shower at the Courtyard by Marriott in Cromwell. When we first got there, the room was set up beautifully. We added some of our decorations and they helped us set up and constantly asked if we needed anything or any help. When the guests arrive, the servers were extremely attentive, everybody came hungry and the servers started going table to table with trays of delicious hors d'oeuvres. The coconut shrimp was so good! My son who is a very picky eater LOVED them so much and our awesome waitress Helen took notice and brought him over a whole tray and set it on the table in front of him, which was much appreciated! A+++ to Helen. The whole crew of servers in the room that day were awesome! But a special shout out to Helen! She was extremely accommodating and friendly and patient. When lunch was served, the food was amazing. Everyone was raving about it! I loved the prime rib and mashed potato bar! The chicken was delicious too! My sister had such a great day at her baby shower! Thanks to everyone who made this day special for her! read more

Very disappointing for Wedding Room Blocks. Incredibly slow at processing and signing guests in which caused an issue with some wedding party members. If the average weekend is anything like this past Saturday, the hotel needs to hire more front desk workers as the line was completely out of the door at the start of check in times. As for the rooms, nothing fancy, very plain; the views were of parking lots. The worst part of the room was the shower which failed to drain properly. When you went to take a shower the bath would fill up and take another half hour to drain afterwards. Also don't expect for more than two people to shower as the amount of shampoo and conditioner they provide is miniscule. I highly recommend that you use any other possible alternatives. I would not stay here again. read more

DO NOT USE FOR ROOM BLOCKS PARTIES ETC!! Most disappointing hotel I have ever dealt with. We worked with their staff for about a year and went back and forth with them many times on details after choosing this hotel to hold a room block to host our guests on our wedding night. Was supposed to be a special evening that we wanted to end at this hotel with our guests who traveled from out of town. We could have picked anywhere else in the area but the made the huge mistake of picking this one. When my wedding party arrived at the hotel after the wedding and a long day, their rooms in which they all booked a year in advance were not available! Our best man and maid of honor (both from out of town) and other members of our wedding party did not have rooms! The staff gave us and continues to give us every excuse in the book as opposed to owning up to their big mistake for giving away our rooms. What was the point of working with their management team on a room block and reserving rooms if they couldn't do that ONE JOB!! My new wife and I felt awful for our wedding party and actually had to uber home on our wedding night and host guests at our house!! Not the ideal way to spend your wedding night is it? It's not even about the rooms but the fact that the end of our wedding night was literally ruined due to this Marriott's mistake that like I said, they cannot own up to. read more

We went to the Courtyard in our area recently as a place to escape cabin fever from a brutal winter. A night in a hotel with the kids and some fun at the pool. We have done this in the past at the Residence Inn in Rocky Hill (which is great by the way) but it was booked. The place is a standard cookie cutter hotel, although the place has been here for awhile and the decor is starting to look a little dated. They do have a bar and a restaurant, although with the proximity to a couple close restaurants, I'm not sure they serve a real purpose. Rooms are spacious and beds are comfortable. The staff was generally devoid of personality. Oh, except when the woman at the front desk debated me over whether adjoining rooms were "guaranteed." As much as I would like to send my 2 year old to a room on another floor, we pretty much need rooms next to each other. Oh, and also when 2 of the staff had a coronary when my 4 year old was walking through the "common area" without shoes. With the concern about cleanliness, I was surprised when the dirty bandaid sitting on the edge of the pool was there when we got there in the afternoon and, yup, still there in the morning. (Overall, the place wasn't dirty, but the 5-star Yelp about soaking in the jacuzzi at a Courtyard makes me uncomfortable just thinking about it.) And then the pool. First time, no towels. Asked for some and waited until the whole family was on the brink of hypothermia before they actually made it to the pool area. Next morning, no towels. They brought them in a lot quicker this time, except they were actually hand towels. That was enjoyable. Last was the experience at breakfast in the morning. Let's keep it brief and just say that it was the worst omelet I have ever had in my life. Egg was thin, toast was burnt, contents were canned, and it tasted like they poured bacon grease over the top of it. Stay with the Continental. The place is cheap. Sometimes, you get what you pay for. Next time I have cabin fever, I'm going to a different cabin. read more

The hotel STAFF gets 5 stars!!!! Very accomendating & friendly from check-in & check-out. I actually left a bag there, they held it for me until I was able to pick it up two days later.
