I was in town for business and stayed here for a few days. Fitness center was small but had a couple of treadmills and free weights. They have a nice pool and jacuzzi. The rooms are well appointed with some wear. Plenty of good restaurants- fast and sit down. Definitely recommend this hotel. read more

This Courtyard's lobby gives a great first impression, unfortunately, that's where the magic ends. The staff was friendly, but the overall presentation felt more Walmart than Marriott. Not exactly what I'd expect from a hotel charging around $300 a night. The first thing we did after checking in was unpack, and when I opened the dresser drawers, there was a lot of dust INSIDE. One drawer even had crumbs in it. Thankfully, I had Clorox wipes in my car and cleaned them myself (see photos) and let the front desk know. Next stop: the pool. Calling it a "pool" is generous. It's about the size of a shoebox. But hey, it's great for senior water aerobics, not so much if you planned on actually swimming. The hot tub? Closed and taped off; the staff said it's been out of service for several weeks. After showering, we noticed several brown, wet-looking mold spots on the bathroom ceiling. Since it was late, I reported it first thing the next morning around 9 a.m. We left for the day and came back about 12 hours later only to come back to a room that hadn't been serviced, AND the mold was still there. I asked for a different room, but the hotel was fully booked. I then asked if someone could at least clean the ceiling. The evening maintenance employee came right away and was genuinely helpful. He said no one had ever told him about it and that the day crew should have handled it. He was probably the highlight of our stay. Then came laundry. The machines only accept coins (in 2026). There isn't even a change machine so I had to go to the front desk to get change. Apparently, the expectation is that guests travel with $5 worth of quarters to wash and dry one load of clothes. A simple credit card or mobile payment option would solve that The beds also squeak with every movement, so if you're sharing a room with someone who tosses and turns, expect an all-night soundtrack. The positives: Plenty of free parking. Excellent location with restaurants, shopping, and a movie theater all within walking distance. A casino next door with a steakhouse and Italian restaurant if that's your thing. I know this isn't a JW Marriott, and I wasn't expecting luxury. I was just expecting clean drawers, a mold-free bathroom, basic maintenance, and someone to mention that housekeeping doesn't happen unless you ask for it. That would've been nice to know before I came back 12 hours later expecting my room to have been serviced. For nearly $300 a night, that's not asking for much. Maybe I just drew the short straw and got a neglected room. But mold doesn't appear overnight, and a dirty dresser doesn't happen because housekeeping had one bad day. Would I stay here again? Only if my car broke down in Carson City and this was the only room left. read more

We wanted to take the kids to the snow during NYE weekend and the only place available in Tahoe was the Ritz-Carlton. I do not even have enough points even close to what they wanted so had to look elsewhere. The last time we stayed in South Lake Tahoe we didn't have good luck with finding a place to take our young little ones sledding. Keep in mind these guys are 5 and under so paying $200 for probably 1 run isn't gonna happen. I was looking for a small hill where I can let them slide down gently. Baby steps. I found Spooner Summit just minutes away from Carson City so this place was perfect. I was pleasantly surprised that this hotel did not charge for parking so since I used points to stay here that meant I didn't have to pay a dime. This is a Courtyard. Not the Ritz or the W so I came in with very low expectations. It was basically a place for us to shower and sleep after some snow play. The room was ok. Again no frills. I like that it had a fridge and plenty of room to hang clothes and drawers to offload our gear. I was very happy about the shower. The showerhead was this soft rain but had lots of water pressure. One of my pet peeves is a wimpy drizzle that takes 20 minutes for a shower when it should only take 5 but this place was not it. The bed and pillows can use an upgrade for sure. Pillows are so soft that it offers 0 support so bring your own. Unfortunately we weren't able to eat at the Bistro because the girl called in sick both days we were there so all they served was coffee and muffins. We were able to at least get our morning Starbucks so I guess it was ok. Why did I give this place 4 stars? Because the staff was great and very accommodating. The location was great not only bc it was close to the snow park, but also because there were plenty of places to eat nearby and Costco is down the street so you can shop and gas up. This hotel is by no means glamorous but it also won't cost you a kidney. If you used points like I did then it won't cost you at all. read more

Our shampoo and body wash was empty and never had it refilled during our two day stay. Never greeted or a good morning. Front desk staff was always chatty about personal issues. Called down and asked a question regarding restaurants in the area and was told " I'm new and can't suggest anything" Very unprofessional and I would suggest Marriott training would be in place for future customers. read more

Enjoyed my first time stay at this Marriott Hotel. Check-in process was quick with friendly service. There is a place to grab some food and drinks in the lobby, but there were plenty of shopping and dining options around the hotel as well. Complimentary cookies (chocolate chip, sugar, and peanut butter) were available at the front desk. A pool, hottub, and fitness center were located on the first level. I only went into the fitness center to refill by water bottle each day. Ice machines are located on each floor. Room was nice and I did not experience any issues on this visit. I was here for 4 nights, but no housekeeping service was provided, but if I needed anything, the front desk just said to ask. Regular courtyard soaps in the bathroom fresh towels comfortable beds. Room was clean and it was quiet. The girls who worked the desk and food were very friendly made you feel welcome. I like that they have a couch in the room gives you a place to sit down. Love the charging station on the table you can plug everything in one place. Also on the couch area if you're working in that area. Things I did not like no full size mirror also no water station to fill up your water bottles. No microwave in the rooms. I've been staying here for years when passing through Carson City on government business. Yesterday when I showed up ready to check in The desk clerk said, "I need to see your papers." I asked, what papers? She said your travel orders. I explained that no one has carried travel orders since the '90s. I was informed that I would not get the special rate without travel orders. I provided credentials and was told, okay will do it this time but I don't know what they're going to say tomorrow? Exhausted, at 9:00 p.m., I spent the night. I had planned to stay more than one night but I checked out in the morning. I won't be back. Before I checked in a government firefighter was trying to check into the hotel. He too was told to provide travel orders or he could not get the government rate. He was exhausted, having worked all day, and the kid behind the counter told him, okay will let it go this time. Then immediately following my check in another state government employee showed up and was told the same thing. She fell for the scam and actually agreed to pay the full rate. This hotel clearly has something against government employees. There are other options in Carson City so I recommend avoiding this place like the plague. read more

I stayed here during MLK weekend since it was a cheaper stay near Tahoe. Unfortunately I came during a big storm, at one point the power in the entire block went off. I was just on my way into the elevator and it cut off just as the elevator doors opened. Stairs it is! Luckily the door card readers are operated by a battery so we were able to get inside our room. We had to use our phone lights, but the power was cut out for 20 minutes. Room was decent, bed was comfy, and I liked the sofa/bed combo. Bathroom was nice and clean but the toiletries were broken off the wall. I did have a hard time sleeping since there was 48 mph winds going on so we could hear it howling outside the windows. No free continental breakfast at this location which was a bummer. It seems like they used to serve it. Instead they have a Starbucks. The hotel is close to the casino and a pretty tasty Italian restauraunt. 3.5 star overall stay. read more

Courtyard is located off the main road, near the freeway and 100ft from Casino Fandango. If you'd like to avoid the traffic noise of the passing cars on the street be sure to ask for a room not facing the main road. Check-in was quick and easy thanks to Janelle. She was informative, friendly and knowledgeable of everything on and surrounding of the property. Being that were staying over Thanksgiving, Janelle made sure we knew what may be open on the holiday in the area. The hotel has 4 floors w/ two elevators. I think only one of the elevators works or is operating. It takes 2-4 minutes for the elevator to arrive. The stairs are located at the end of each of the floors. It may be quicker to get downstairs using them, unless you have lots of heavy things to carry. The room has a small tv, two tables to work on, shampoo, conditioner and body wash in the shower area (one of which had fallen off and not put back on when we arrived). Tile flooring, making it cold when it's cold out. It also came with a couch, that happened to have a 2-inch rip in it. The bed is comfy. Parking is free. Pets are not allowed. Only service animals. Fresh cookies are individually wrapped for your taking. A small grocery area of items is available in the lobby area. Near the hotel is everything you may need, food, fast food, stores and gas. There is a small gym on property. Less than a handful of cardio machines, one of which is out of order currently. Free weights. Not much room to do things. Water cooler available. Small covered pool. Everyone at the front desk was friendly. read more

Convenient location to our conference. Rooms are nice but availability of a room with two queen beds is limited. Staff is friendly and helpful. Rooms are clean and comfortable. We enjoyed a reception in their lounge/bar area. It was very nicely appointed and comfortable. A great place to meet and talk with friends while enjoying a beverage and a snack. My only negative was that when taking a shower, the bathtub doesn't drain quite well and by the time your shower is finished, you're standing in at least 3 inches of water. read more

We had a great stay at this hotel. Phillip at the front desk was great - super friendly and welcoming. I made the reservation on the app just a few minutes before checking in, and he had a key ready and got me checked in quickly. The hotel was clean and comfortable. The location was convenient and not far from the freeway. There was also a casino literally next door, which was great for some entertainment. Courtyards do not include breakfast nor have a concierge lounge, which are my only complaints with this brand. For this location, the staff made up for it. read more

I'm throughly impressed with the quality of this hotel, the staff, and amenities. Thank you Malinda for taking time to make us feel special. You are professional and kind. You made us feel like we were staying at a friends home, attending to details, and happy to see us. My wife and I could tell right away that this hotel went the extra mile. A poster board at the front desk was hand created and crafted listing different activities and events that the hotel hosted, including movie night. I was surprised to hear that this hotel had been here for years. From its modern look and appeal, and it being so clean, it felt like we were at its grand opening. After enjoying a generously poured cocktail at the bar, my wife and I took a relaxing soak in the indoor jacuzzi and pool which were heated and again very clean. On the way upstairs, we stopped by the front desk and noticed there was a courtesy hot chocolate bar. We both enjoyed the one cup of hot cocoa, and again was surprised presently to see that the individually packed bags of marshmallows with hand prepared with care. We stay at Marriott hotels many times each year and this has been by far the most enjoyable experience. My friend's wedding was the reason for my visit to Carson City, of which I would never visit otherwise. So of course, that means I had to find yet another Courtyard Marriott to stay at! I'll start with my room, which in this particular case was a standard two queen. It looked like the same cookie cutter rooms that I've stayed at in other Courtyards. Even had the same corner table with the same artwork! Anyways, it was very spacious and clean. Bathroom was also cookie cutter, but that meant plenty of room as well. The one thing I did notice was the TV wasn't the preset Marriott box that I'm used to, but fully loaded DirecTV! I pretty much figured out the only thing to do here is either eat or gamble, so this find was very useful. Staff here was solid. Nothing out of the ordinary. Couldn't get my usual upgrade (probably because of the two queens), but aside from that no complaints. Parking is free, so don't worry about that. Location...well, I don't even know what is in Carson City really, but this is a small town so this is basically irrelevant. I guess it is very close to the only In-N-Out in town, if that kinda thing matters to you. Overall, happy with my stay here. Typical Courtyard experience, everything was solid. I stayed in a presidential suite for 4 nights. It was many things, but presidential was not one of them. + No full length mirrors in rooms or suites. + Needs a new mattress. I sunk into one side while the other side was lumpy. + Terrible lighting in both bathrooms for make up application. + No regular housekeeping service and nobody told me I had to ask. If someone is checking in for 4 nights, they should be advised if they need to request housekeeping or supplies during their stay when they check in. + Carpets need cleaning in suite. They're disgusting. + Furniture torn and tattered - literally large rips in sofa and stains on the fabric furniture. + Thin walls - loud music from other rooms and floors can be heard through the walls and floors. Outside walls thin, too - motorcycles, engines revving, yelling/arguments in the parking garage all times of night. (Full transparency - the parking garage belongs to the mildly seedy casino next door, but happens to be along the entire back side of the hotel. So if you're room is not on the street side of the hotel, expect continuous disruptions from the clientele of the casino while they're using the garage at night.) + Hot tub jets are broken. + Literally the only saving grace at this hotel is the staff. They're incredibly kind and quick to respond to needs. It's unfortunate that whomever is responsible higher than the every day staff to ensure the hotel is deep cleaned and well kept isn't doing their part. During covid it is just a basic hotel. Everything is closed right now(fitness center, lobby area, food/restaurant area, pool). If you want to warm your food, there is no microwaves in the rooms, only by the front desk. There is only one ice machine in the 4 floor hotel, which is on the 1st floor. There is no housekeeping during your stay unless you stay for more than 7 days. The first 2 nights were nice and quiet but the second 2 were loud. People were stomping down the hallways. The person above us was loud. It was as if they kept jumping off the bed or doing gymnastics above us. The room was nice and clean and I loved the showerhead. The bed was not very comfortable we didn't sleep very much because it was hard. There is a tiny fridge and a nice TV. No do not disturb sign. They only seem to have 1 cart for guests to use to trolley their things. read more

When I first got to the room, I went to open a cabinet door & the screws fell out, the cabinet door almost fell on my foot. Well I thought that would be the worst if it but it wasn't. Was lying in the bed, went to grab another pillow. When the pillow got turned around, it exposed BLOOD on the pillow !!! They changed my room but here it is 2am & I'm still unable to calm down. I'm really freaked out & upset. Unable to sleep now. Even with the room change, I know housekeeping is awful so I don't feel comfortable now. Plus there is a dog a few rooms down, barking constantly. Even though it says by the front desk that no animals are allowed. I have a dog, love animals but how inconsiderate of these hotel guests to bring a dog that is a barker. I don't even think they are in the room because I have heard no attempts to try to quiet the dog. It is more than obvious that the room wasn't cleaned properly. During a time when there is Covid, extra care to clean rooms should be a priority. No guest should have to lie down in bed to find some other strangers blood on their pillow (or anywhere else) It's disgusting & very unsettling. How would you react to lying down in a hotel room bed to find someone else's blood in bed with you ? Pretty bad, huh ?? I don't recommend this hotel. I will never use this hotel again. I was charged $250 for "damages". I called and at first was told it was from smoking. Then I was told it was from damaged linens. I filed a complaint, and they closed it because the manager said he had talked to me, even though he never had. I got the complaint reopened, and left two messages with the manager and he never contacted me back. I called a 4th time and was finally transferred. He explained that the house cleaning had managed to wash a towel that had been used to clean up spilt red wine, thereby ruining all of the linens - which is somehow my fault? There was literally one towel that had wine on it. Don't believe it when they say that they "showed pictures" like I saw in another reply to a similar review below where someone that didn't smoke was charged a smoking fee. I asked for photographic evidence and they claimed they were internal documents which I couldn't be given, so this hotel can basically charge people 250 whenever they feel like it and provide no proof unless you dispute the transaction. The manager explained that the reason he didn't return my two voicemails was that I was "threatening", which isn't true. I will be disputing the charge, and if that fails I'll take this to small claims court. read more

Let me start off by saying that I'm very critical and particular of which hotel I stay at. This would never have been my choice and it always makes me nervous when a hotel does not have a lot of reviews coupled with not so great reviews. I understand that this hotel doesn't get a lot of foot traffic because of it's location so I hope my review will help someone out there. I stayed here with my boyfriend for a night because we decided to take a last minute trip to Tahoe so he could snowboard and all of the hotels in Tahoe were either all booked or were too expensive. We decided to make our way here to Carson City. I was pleasantly surprised that everything looked clean and the room looked nice. The bed is prominently featured as the nicest and biggest feature out of the room. There is a TV that extends out and can be swiveled to face either the couch or the bed. There's a mini fridge too. I always check the bedding before settling in the room to make sure there are no stains, hairs, or bed bugs so I always hope people do the same. It passed! The bathroom was clean and somewhat modernly decorated. The water gets really hot but the toilet flushing can be pretty loud. Check in and check out was okay. The hotel staff provided neither excellent service nor terrible service. They were just adequate but somewhat rude when we requested late check out, which the staff member replied with, "2 PM, that late enough for you?" I was not happy with her tone. There were barely three cars in the parking lot so I don't see any reason to get rid of us in a hurry lady. You have way more rooms than guests so let's not ruin the customer service standard people expect from a Marriott hotel. They also have a pool and a nice lounge area, none of which we took the time to explore. Even though Carson City is a bit deserted, there are a lot of stores and food options near the hotel. Within 10 mins of us was McDonalds, Starbucks, In n Out, a couple banks, Jamba Juice, Walmart, Trader Joes, Ross, Wingstop, Taco Bell, Dennys, and many other places. Within less than a minute, right next to the hotel is the casino and its restaurant. Directly behind the hotel is some theater. Just be a good Yelper and check out these places before you go. The restaurant with the highest rating of all was the In n Out as the others had terrible complaints about customer service and even some that were dangerous where patrons found metal or plastic in their food. Although I gave it 4 stars, my boyfriend and I couldn't shake the feeling that the room was dirty, though there was nothing to support the feeling mind you. Very hard to work with. Booked 15 rooms for 3 nights. Paid as agreed 6 weeks before check in. Paid as agreed in email chain. After paid they changed the terms and told us we needed to pay more. We went to meet them and we're told it was not them that MARRIOTT CORP. told them what to charge. Steve Durham, sales manager and Joseph Pickett general manager informed us of that. As we checked out we TRIED TO PAY different and we're told we could not as nothing was in computer for amount. Contacted them and were told to send check so we did. The room was clean nice and updated. The staff at the front desk was helpful. I was there for 9 nights with 6 rooms. On night 6 house keeping came into my room and cleaned it even though the do not disturb was on the door. They threw away/took everything in my room that was in there. This included toiletries, food in the fridge, a beard trimmer, and other things. I went to the front desk and they looked everywhere for the stuff, not to be found. They took all my info and list of things missing and said they were giving it to the manager. I came back the next day to check on the status, and still no word. Now day 4 after it happened, I still haven't heard from the manager. They did give me a $20 food credit, but that doesn't come close to what was taken from my rooms cost. I applaud the people working the front desk when it happened, they were really helpful and nice. Similar story on 2 of our other rooms, there stuff was taken also. We stayed at this Hotel for our Annual Golf Tournament with 32 players last weekend. Booked all the rooms 5 months prior and they would not hold our price we originally booked in writing. Blamed the past manager they fired. Also lost power for several hours and several of us were given the wrong rooms - 1 King bed for 2 men? I don't think so. The general managers is Joseph Pickett, and the Sales Manager is Steve Dunham. Both were zero help and blamed Marriott Corporate. Now, they want to charge us more money because they didnt collect enough! What a joke and we will never return to this place. read more

Where do I start. We accidentally stayed here. Our vehicle broke down in Tahoe while on vacation and was towed to the dealership next door. We have ALWAYS stayed at Marriotts so we were excited this one was close to the dealer while our vehicle was being repaired. First off. We had no reservation when we walked in. They do not offer any EMERGENCY discounts or ANY discounts. The room was AWFUL. When we walked in the room there were stains on carpet. The carpet was icky.....did not want to walk barefoot in room. The sofa and sofa foot stool was STAINED and dirty. The clock was BLINKING ...I had to set the time. The room has a coffee maker with pods. AWFUL watered down coffee. ALL THE MARRIOTS we stayed at before had complimentary coffee and cookies AND BREAKFAST. This Marriot does not. We noticed they had freshly baked cookies behind registration counter which we watched employees grab and enjoy. We were not offered any when we checked in. The entrance of the hotel is beautifully decorated. They obviously spent all their money here and not on updating rooms. Our shower curtain was tattered and the clips that hold the shower together was broken. I had to use my hair clip to keep the shower curtain up to avoid water on floor. The toilet did not flush. You had to flush it 3x to make it work. The air conditioner is very LOUD in the room. Old style...unit up against window / wall. If you are a light sleeper it will wake you. We could hear the next door neighbor's TV and when they were on the phone arguing with the credit card company with charges at 6am. It sounded all night like there were Bison in the room above us. VERY VERY noisy and loud noises like someone was going to fall through ceiling on our bed. . The room needs serious updating. I am sure it was NICE back in the day. counter top chipping. no extra pillows in rom like most hotels. Garbage and recycling cans are very very small.The bar area in the main reception area is a wine bar an cafe BUT it was deserted. the whole reception area was deserted . There was NO ONE THERE. The place is EMPTY. The casino (I know not related to Marriot) was a MAJOR disappointment there was like 12 people there and the restaurants was closed ....we wanted sushi and the sushi restaurant was closed.. So we asked front desk and she said their bar area person sells wine and food. So ordered food. The girl's NAILS were long. VERY LONG ARTIFICIAL LONG (the ones where they are dirty underneath). Not very hygienic. She has has to go to a back part of hotel to prepare food. In mean time, I watch people come to her counter and wait and wait and then leave. I waited 25 minutes for a glass of wine. I heard her tell the lady she was preparing food for where breakfast places was across street and they were talking about issues this lady had with her car breaking down. I guess she does not want to make breakfast despite there being a menu for breakfast at the counter that she is supposed to provide? MArriot, if you are paying her she is not doing her part. OH and DONT ask for a glass of water. It's not filtered. It's tap water. BAD taste. BTW Are food preparers really supposed to have such long nasty artificial nails? I hope that lady did not get sick from her food. ALSO, The front desk was left unattended MANY TIMES. The young lady working there just wondered off. One time I timed her while drinking my wine she was gone 20 minutes. Several people walked in to enquire about a room I guess why else would they stop on? I watched them stand at counter for 10-15 minutes then leave. I am surprised no one has wialked in and robbed them. What happened to Marriot?? Where are the goody bags when you check in. Where are the hot cookies in evening. Where are the complimentary breakfasts. Where is the complimentary coffee in morning coffee? There is COMPLIMENTARY apple cider in lobby but come on......who the hell drinks apple cider in September? Room Prices went went UP but service and amenities went down. I DID NOT feel like I was staying at a Marriot. More like a Marriot impersonator. $200 room not worth it.They could have included freshly brewed complimentary morning coffee at a bare minimum.Not like it used to be. It's a shame. A real shame and BIG disappointment. Will NOT stay at this location again. You have been warned. read more

Room was very nice and the employees were friendly. Loved that there were 10 outlets in the living room area alone! We were there for three nights, and no one ever came in to change out the towels or empty the trash. That would not have bothered us at all if we had known about it ahead of time. When we checked in, we were told that we could divide the bill into three parts so that each of us could pay our part. This did not happen. The woman checking us out said that she had no idea how to do this. (Sounds like very simple arithmetic.) We were told that (maybe) extra "points" will be given for this inconvenience, which is very nice. But since I am not a member, this does me no good. read more

Great room, received a 2 night comp and so I decided to use the comp. 15 days later they charge my credit card $87. I called spoke with Sierra she said it was there mistake & will have the manager credit the card. 36 days later after 3 follow up calls still not resolved. Finally asked to speak to the manager and wow it got credited. The rooms are very nice and very clean, just the staff I feel they do not go out of the way for there guests. read more

We are residents of Carson City. On 12/31/22 a major snowstorm hit our area dumping anywhere from 6-8 inches of unexpected wet, heavy, snow. This caused power outages for thousands of residents all over northern Nevada. We were without power for 4-days. Our power rarely goes out but because we are on a well, we did not have running water. Thank goodness we have a natural gas cooking stove and fireplace. We were able to keep warm and heat up food, but without power to run the well we had no running water. My husband is a military veteran and partially disabled. Not having power was becoming problematic for us. Several of the local hotels and large hotel/casinos in Carson City and Reno were offering discounted rates on rooms for locals without power. Traveling to Reno was not a good idea because of the road and weather conditions for three days. On the third day without power, I called hotels in Carson City to see if they had a room. Everyone but Courtyard Carson City was booked. Asked if they were offering a discounted rate to locals without power. They were not. They could not even offer us a military rate. Because of my husband's situation we went ahead and booked a room for one night at the rate of $209.00. REALLY!!! Where is their compassion?! I wrote to their corporate office about this. Within 24-hours I received a response stating they had forwarded my message on directly to the management at the hotel. It has been 10-days now and management from Courtyard Marriott Carson City has yet to contact me. As for the room, nothing special. It was clean but the drain plug in the bathtub was broken and power outlets for electronics were not sufficient in my opinion. It was a good thing I brought my one extension cord. Will not recommend this location as they are not good stewards of the community they are in. read more

Rounding out my experience in Carson City when I visit for work is my choice of place to stay. And I must say for me it's the Courtyard Marriott. The multiple times I've stayed there I've been treated warmly, my room is clean, and my bed is extra comfy with the extra fluffly pillows I always request for my stay. Hello...pillow fight for 1! No, just kidding. Really. Just kidding. Haven't had a pillow fight since I got stuck in that sorority house when I was just an innocent little nerdling at UNLV. Those girls were beasts! Funny how they were so good at pillow fighting (I imagine lots of girl-on-girl sparring session)...but I'll save that story for some other time. Okay, yes...I kinda intentionally pulled some punches and let them win. But little did they know the winner was ME. There are several places to stay in Carson City and I checked out a few, but I really don't like much smoke where I sleep. So Courtyard Marriott ended up being on the top of my list since it has a smoke-free policy (sorry Cheech & Chong). It's not connected to any casino, and that was a definite plus. Although if I did want to serve my Craps itch I could walk right next door to the Casino Fandango. It is literally like 20 steps away from the Courtyard Marriott side exit. A hop and a skip and you're there. Nice. On the occasions I've stayed there, I requested extra pillows, a room near the elevator, and a room on the top floor. Each time my requests were filled with aplomb, making my week long stays comfortable on my conscience. One less thing for me to worry about so I could focus on work. Some folks have complained their rooms weren't clean, but so far that hasn't been the case with me. My room was always freshly made, dusted, hair-free, and pleasant smelling. Sure, there is the occasional drunk guy wandering out from the Casino Fandango early in the morning cussing a storm, but hey, it's a casino and it's kinda expected. Every morning close to the elevators on the lobby floor there is always a fresh stack of the Wall St. Journal and the US News. Perfect for the business folk on the go. And they're free! In the morning you can enjoy the Courtyard Marriott's breakfast buffet or continental breakfast at the Courtyard Cafe for a nominal price. In the evening you can enjoy a cocktail and some snacks at the lobby lounge bar and unwind after a long day at work. I usually hit the fitness room after a long day to de-stress and get some cardio in. It's a bit small but there are 5-6 different cardio machines, exercise mats, and free weights to take your aggression out on. You can also take a dip in the pool or jacuzzi right next door. Prices at the Courtyard Marriott are OK too. Since I work for the government we get a decent rate that goes in line with our per diem. I have to pay a bit extra per day since the daily rate is a bit past my allowable per diem, but it's worth it for me because of the piece of mind I get. Damn, is that king-sized bed comfortable as Hell! Super friendly service, rooms cleaned and sheets changed daily, peace, quiet, and some decent pricing? You can't go wrong staying at the Courtyard Marriott in Carson City if you're in town for an extended visit. Location is great as well, it's within a 5 minute drive to Costco, Walmart, Target, and the local Best Buy for grown up nerds like me! read more

We visit family in Reno and need a non-smoking hotel, so our choices are limited. We stayed in a Courtyard in Reno previously and found it clean and quiet, and as it was sold out this time we stayed at the Courtyard in Carson City. This is a very new, clean, modern facility at the south end of town, adjacent to a casino. The only room available was a king suite, which had two large rooms, the nicest flatscreen I've seen, fridge, microwave. The room was very clean and quiet, even the AC was quiet and powerful. Quite the palatial room. Downsides: the bed was really springy, which telegraphs every movement. The breakfast costs extra and was mediocure, so not a good idea. And the room, while very nice, was expensive. read more

My wife and I decided to go to Carson City, Nevada for a quick weekend getaway. We chose to stay at the courtyard Marriott because they always in the past given me the military rate because I am a PURPLE HEART VETERAN! It has never been a problem in the past and this time the A$$hole behind the counter named Donovan wouldn't give it to me even after showing my VA card and my various other military cards I have. My wife asked a question and he answered in a very rude and disrespectful manner. At that point I was beyond pissed off! He gave us a room at THREE TIMES the price! We went up to our room which wasn't the top floor like we put in while making the reservation and immediately called Marriott Corporate. The agent I got agreed with me this should not of happened! The agent told me as a Purple Heart veteran I always qualify for the military rate. Makes me wonder why Marriott Corporate is saying one thing but this hotel is doing another. My wife and I will NEVER stay there again and we cancelled and deleted our Marriott app and account! As a Purple Heart Veteran I DO NOT recommend staying here. read more

Came here for a wedding, and barely spent any time in the room. However, the time in the room was great. Bathroom seemed to be remodeled recently so was really nice. Beds were comfortable and the rooms were nice and big. However, service at the front desk was blah. It just seemed like they hated being there, that it was a burden to help you out. Not what to look forward after long car rides. But overall dealt with them for maybe 30 mins in total, so not to bad. read more

This has not been my favorite stay at any hotel, let alone a Marriott. Check in was fine and offered a couple of bottled waters. Nice but what came later is all why I won't stay here again. On the first morning of my 4 night stay, I got an early knock on the door, 8am I think. It was housekeeping and she immediately said " oh, I got the wrong room". Really, they're numbered, ya know. Upon returning that second night I found my room uncleaned. Nothing at all done. It was too late for a clean and I had just enough supplies that I didn't need the front desk to send stuff but I told her I wasn't to speak to the manager in the morning and to register my complaint. The next night I was cleaned but shifted on supplies, like nothing. The maid was down the hall and she apologized and said take anything you need. There is a casino adjacent and has good restaurants. I went to get a warm dinner and it's been snowing like crazy (2/2019) here. The side exit is key card secured so it's a short outside walk mostly awning covered crossover to the valet entrance of the casino. The casino side was salted and shoveled. The Marriott side, not so much. I was careful but was lucky I didn't fall. I told the front desk upon my return, dinner in the Italian restaurant was great BTW. I need to review that one. The TV is by DirecTV, great, as I know my channels and they have a huge selection. But, the service was sporadic because of the snow or so I though. They said a tech was coming and that seemed to work as I'm writing this the snow is the heaviest yet and solid picture. So that's good. I still haven't talked to the manager so I don't know what they'll do. I'll update after I check out. Update: Upon checkout I told my story again and after some back and forth the manager approved a comp night for my troubles. I'm good with that and will raise the stars to three. I still feel none of this should have happened and I've traveled enough to have no issues stays at many hotels. To see similar complaints from other Yelpers, certainly means work needs to be done.
