But honestly, we're so glad we made that mistake because this ended up being one of our favorite stays. We only planned to stay one night, but we loved it so much that we extended for another night. My husband is really into paranormal history, and I had no idea Virginia City was one of his favorite places. I ended up falling in love with it too! The town is full of fascinating history, and it's just a short drive from the motel. Just keep in mind that most of the shops close fairly early, so it's best to explore during the day. The owners are some of the kindest and most accommodating people we've met. They made us feel so welcome, gave us great recommendations on places to visit around Virginia City, and were always happy to help. Every morning they also offer complimentary coffee and biscuits, which was such a nice touch. We traveled with our four dogs, and it was wonderful to find such a welcoming place for pet owners. Our room was on the smaller side, but it was cozy, comfortable, and had everything we needed. We especially loved the bathroom--it was very comfortable and well-kept. The people in Virginia City were incredibly friendly, and the whole experience was unforgettable. If you enjoy history, charming small towns, or anything paranormal, this is a fantastic place to stay. We came here by accident, but we'll definitely be coming back on purpose!

I've had many experiences with ghosts in the many rooms I've stayed in which is always a highlight. We recently rode our Side by Side up there with friends to spend the night and had an amazing dinner and dessert at the Crown Point Restaurant. I have to say that I've never had a bad meal there and this time it was exceptional. We love to sit in front of the fireplace in the old world, cozy bar and enjoy drinks before retiring to our room and if you get one of the balcony rooms you wake up to views of the Sierra. There are new owners and they are very accommodating and they like to visit with their guests in the bar. All the drinks we had were good and the staff were friendly. We asked for a refund and the person we spoke to said we would be refunded the next day and that the owner would call, so we drove all the way back down the mountain and went home. The next day we called and they said the fridge making noise was not a good enough reason for a refund. It was so loud and we were told we were getting refunded. We asked why the cleaning staff didn't let them know that there was an issue, and she said the housekeeper hadn't been there for a week. Shouldn't they check the place before renting it out if it's been locked up in the winter for a whole week? If we knew we weren't going to get a refund, we would have tried something else but I think we were told this to get us to leave. So disappointing and sad. We were very respectful and told them immediately that there was a problem. Listen to this video! You can barely hear us talk. It was impossible to stay there.

The mansion is located walking distance from town. It has been very well restored and has many period pieces and decor. My wife and I have stayed in many places like this but I have to say...this place has something special. That is mostly due to Connie the owner. As soon as you book the reservation you get a huge email laying out what to expect at the mansion including directions and what to expect. The email then goes in and tells about the town and its MANY attractions and history and how to contact those business. Once we arrived, a note in the door said to "call Connie once you arrive and are ready to check in...LOL'! We thought this was great and gave it a very "homey" atmosphere. Connie also owns a bar/saloon in town called The Silver Queen, which has been featured on Ghost Adventures and is worth a trip there in its own merit and that is where she was when we arrived. She basically said...walk in the side door, go straight ahead and turn right and the door to your room is right there with the key in it. Let me know if you need anything else...LOL. We thought that was just the best! The rooms were very clean and comfortable and had AC, TV, Keurig coffee maker, private bath, and ours had a patio outside. We took a self guided tour around the house, as no one was there, and fell in love with the place. The big thing that sets it apart from any other place that we have been is the fact that the owner, Connie, is the one who literally cook you a three course gourmet breakfast every morning! Her meals were spectacular and the hospitality and conversation was amazing. She has lived they for 61 years and could answer pretty much and question you had and had a hilarious and interesting story to tell about whatever you wanted to know I was well! We met some great couples at breakfast and we are SURE to be back in the future. This mansion and the city, which exceeded all expectations as well, will definitely in regular rotation on our many adventures every year. You will NOT be disappointed when you stay here!

This isn't just a place to sleep; it's a wonderfully warm, hospitable experience that felt like visiting the best version of home.First off, let's talk about the hosts: Donna, Mark, and Archie (the pup!) are truly fantastic. They are the epitome of kind and welcoming. From the moment we arrived, we felt like honored guests. They were always ready with a smile, a laugh, and genuinely made an effort to converse with us.The Food? A Gourmet Masterpiece!I am a notoriously picky eater, so when I say Donna is an AMAZING COOK, you know it's a huge compliment. Her meals are a solid 10 out of 10! The flavor was out of this world, and the presentation was absolutely gorgeous. Seriously, my taste buds were singing.Above and Beyond HospitalityWhat truly sets this B&B apart is the incredible thoughtfulness of Donna and Mark. They were constantly thinking of ways to enhance our stay and actively checked in to see if we needed anything. For example, my wife has a gluten sensitivity, and when we arrived, there were separate trays of fresh cookies waiting for us in the room: gluten-free cookies for her and regular cookies for me! Then, the next morning, Donna had a separate, delicious gluten-free breakfast ready to go! This level of detail and care is just mind-blowing.I cannot recommend this place enough. If you're heading to Virginia City, do yourself a huge favor and book a stay here. It will elevate your whole trip!Thank you, Donna and Mark, for such a spectacular weekend! We will definitely be back!

A very nicely appointed room on the top floor facing east. Great views, nice bed, nice linens, big bathroom, tiny TV - but you don't need that here. Reasonably priced all things considered. The restaurant booked out that night so we headed on to the Cafe Del Rio - also a great place to eat. There is a small bar in the Cider Factory with a very nice beer selection. A pair of quail were exploring the property during our stay. There are also courtyards between each of the houses where you can sit in the shade and unwind with a book or just bask with nature. We stayed in the Silver Street House, built at the turn of the century. It contains four rooms named after the four Irish miners who became known as the Silver Kings of the Comstock. Our room, William O'Brien, had the famous "One Hundred Mile View" down 6-Mile Canyon to Carson Plains and beyond. The room was equipped with a queen bed, old fashioned make-up table (I used it as a makeshift desk for my laptop), ceiling fan, window air conditioning unit, full bathroom, and small flat screen TV. As the morning sun broke through from the east, a quiet and beautiful day was just about to start. After a restful sleep, I wrestled with my mind to get up. Up on B Street, the town was so quiet and serene with a beautiful view of the valley and surrounding mountains. A lizard greeted us at the front of the Silver Street House while he was basking in the morning rays. I think he wanted us to take a picture as he posed for the camera. Edith Palmer's Country Inn provides a home-cooked breakfast to order. Breakfast is served in the Cider Factory which was originally established in 1863. There is seating inside and outside in the courtyard. It was such a cool and beautiful morning, we decided to enjoy our breakfast outside under the shade of a tree. A plated breakfast of pancakes topped with chunky raspberry syrup and whipped cream, bacon, and scrambled eggs were served along with coffee and choice of juice. The pancakes were fluffy and tasted like homemade. The syrup and whipped cream gave it a slight sweetness. The bacon was perfectly cooked with a smoky, salty flavor. The scrambled eggs were a bright yellow and fluffy.
