I wish the young man at the counter had been more coherent and present with his community, as I felt he could be a potential star for that business. Whether he does not understand or is unsure of a customer's order, avoiding extra drinks, cold versions, or compliance mistakes would help make this café a wonderful experience. I found myself nearly negotiating to have my meal comped for the mistakes he made. His coworkers at the espresso bar made no errors and seemed fully aware that we had ordered correctly and simply wanted decent service, not social disregard or stigmatizing behavior. It did not matter my skin tone. I was still disregarded by this young man and pushed aside as just another account for the business. That young, confident arrogance did not help him, nor does it help a customer's perspective on a first visit. I will still give this café another try, as I am looking for a new place to study and maybe people watch some.
