This place changed after Dr. Owen left! The treatment has declined, the facility is dirty and the costs have become unreasonable. I paid 450.00 for my dog to be sedated and have his teeth cleaned last year at this time. No cavities or extractions, just a cleaning! 800 to 1200 for that this year! Unreasonable, especially considering the quality of care has gone down. If you've be going there... ask about the fees before your animal is treated... double or triple since a year ago! There was no cleaning out of the infection, no culture to determine if the antibiotic would even work and no X-ray. After 2 weeks it still looked horrible so we returned and were told he had a hairline fracture in his nose so he was put into a cone for 6 weeks, given another antibiotic (again NO culture) and told to return in 6 weeks. So, we followed the instructions, finished all of the antibiotic and at the end of 6 weeks it still was not healed. At that point I was told by a second Bet here that "Oh that won't ever heal because there's a lot of bacteria in the nose! SO, we found another Dr (Countryside Veterinary Clinic) and he required surgery because Town and Country never cleaned the debris out of the base of the wound. It took a year, 2 surgeries, a 6 week routine of a liquid oral antibiotic, to finally get the problem resolved because of Dr Costello's poor treatment of an infected would. At one point I was told he might not recover. He was 1 1/2 at the time of the injury. DO NOT GO TO TOWN AND COUNTRY. If I could give a 0 I would.

They are not caring medical professionals, but condescending marketers looking to inflate your bill with "tests" , "medications" and "procedures" to make hundreds of extra dollars at your expense. On top of it all they did such a horrible job, it resulted in us having to visit yet another vet to fix what they did with much more suffering to our dog and our pocketbook. NEVER AGAIN.

If I could give this place a minus 10 I would - but as it is I have to settle for a "1". We took…read moreour family german shepherd to Steel Valley Spay and Neuter on Wednesday, 8/12/26 for a standard neuter surgery. Long story short - they removed his whole scrotum - he had a very large surgery wound - he ended up getting very infected within two days even after we did everything right for him post surgery. It's now a week later - he's had to have two additional surgeries to try and make right what these people did and to try and save his life. We had to go to an emergency vet for a surgery on Sunday 8/16/26 and another vet to give him an additional surgery yesterday 8/22/26. We are thousands of dollars involved financially to get him healthy and he still is not out of the woods. He has suffered beyond anything you can imagine with what they did to him. When asked WHY did you remove his whole scrotum? they said that it's mentioned in the paperwork that "it could be a possibility" that this could occur (along with several other things that could "happen" during surgery) - but this was not a "must" - this was an elective decision the vet made to remove the entire scrotum because they said he had excessive skin that could cause him complications in the future- he has severe complications NOW from them removing it. We would never have agreed to have that done if they had asked us at the time they decided they were going to do it . By removing the whole scrotum and causing a much bigger poorly done incision, it opened him up for more risk - risk that did not need to be taken. It has turned a typical neuter into a tragic nightmare for our dog. The surgery itself was poorly done and a hack job. We've had professional feedback that it's the worst butcher job they've seen. Also professional feedback suggesting the infection was from the inside such as possibly dirty setting or instruments. In regard to removing the whole scrotum, Steel Valley's office is standing by the "well it was on the paperwork and your son signed it" - Well prior to a surgery there is always paperwork to sign and basically you have to sign it to have the surgery done . I would never step foot in this place again and if you are concerned about the well-being of your pet and their life - the money you save is not worth it - it's the "TEMU OF VETS" and you end up spending thousands to overcome their negligence. The office manager wants to do nothing but blame the patient . I asked for a return of our money and she hung up on me. Read their other reviews and decide for yourself - they have 2 stars .

I was recommending this place until today because I do think the vet here is good, but my…read moreexperience today was mortifying. The day before we took our beloved old dog there due to a cough. He had X-rays that uncovered an extremely enlarged heart. We went through with getting the $149 bloodwork to make sure he would be able to take medicine for his heart. Which the results were supposed to be today and if everything checked we were going to be picking up the medicine today. Last night after his visit and one dose of the medicine we had written instructions for him to take he started declining that night. The morning when we woke up I had a feeling he was going to pass so we kept him as comfortable and held him. He passed in our arms at 8am today 6/28/22 We are not blaming anyone he was on borrowed time and lived a great long life. When I called as soon as Lordstown vet opened I was greeted on the phone by Dawn. I asked with a teary voice if I could please speak to the vet. She responded with such an attitude "Uhhhh NO!" Which I responded that I was calling because we were there yesterday and had bloodwork done and medicine being ordered today and that we no longer need the results or medicine ordered because our dog passed away this morning. She responded so rudely saying that the blood work has already been done implying I'm looking for a refund! I started bawling and said look my dog just died 2 hours ago and I'm trying to get ahold of the vet so she knows what happened and we won't be needing the medicine ordered and the results we won't be needing as he is dead. I also said I didn't appreciate her being so rudely my dog just died which she replied she "is sorry you feel that way, we will never call you again" Which I said well we have another dog which goes to you too. She ended up hanging up on me. I immediately called back and she had the new girl answer the phone who was the most professional and personal. She even asked if we needed services to put him to rest. I left my number with her for the vet to call me back so hopefully this can be better resolved. I can overlook the secretary making multiple charging mistakes at check out yesterday everyone makes mistakes. We spent $450 on a dog that isn't here the next day, we won't be able to use his expensive shampoo or his other medicine. Yes that really sucks! We are heartbroken about our beloved baby passing this morning. But this kind of treatment by Dawn was unbelievable I'm already going through heartbreak you think the receptionist at the vet office could be more kinder and sympathetic with their clients losing a patient which is a family member to him. I'm beside myself because we have another dog we were going to still be taking there. I just hope the vet calls and makes this right with the way her secretary acted.
