I always order the breakfast 37 which has the Bhudda (One with everything) It's about the size of the Fiji island and will knock your hangover for 6 if you can finish it. Generally I won't eat for the rest of the day afterwards. The staff here are fantastic. Always so friendly and really can't do enough for you, it is always so pleasant to be served by them. Prices are fine here aswell. For just over £6 you will the breakfast of a lifetime and a drink with that, aswell as a cuppa tea. It surely has to be a testament that I can give such a glowing review to somewhere I only go when I feel exceptionally terrible.

If you get beyond the rather unattractive shop front and venture inside, it's easy to see why it's so popular. It serves huge, belly-busting breakfasts, stuffing students with enough food to last them until well after lectures finish. The plates return to the kitchen virtually clean, so the food obviously goes down well - and if you miss out on breakfast, they do similarly proportioned lunches, too. The staff are generally a cheery bunch, despite being surrounded by hungover students, and during term time the place is a hub of activity.

They do cooked breakfasts, including a vegetarian version, which aren't really my cup of tea, and they do a fantastic range of desserts, which on the other hand definitely are my cup of tea. Or you could have fish and chips, roast dinners, and other simple but filling meals and snacks. They have indoor seating, or outside in the arcade area you can enjoy the sun at their picnic tables, with cheerful coloured bunting flapping overhead to brighten up the area. It's fairly near Roath Park, so can make a good stop off for brunch or lunch if you're off to the park without a picnic.

My boss offered to pay which subsequently encouraged a Five Guys free-for-all. In total 15 Burgers and 1 Hot Dog was ordered. The latter being mine. The Bacon Cheese Hot Dog with Jalapeños. Sliced down the middle, slightly crispy and ridiculously delicious. My only regret is ordering this while in work. I've had to undo the top button of my trousers and am currently attempting to resist the temptation of having a teeny tiny nap behind my computer screen. *pause for huge yawn* Food baby aside the online ordering system is super easy and allows you to arrange a pickup time that is convenient for you. Well, that's fine, because they serve them to go. Now, fishcakes to go seem to me to be an amazing thing. The main problem with The Coffi House (apart from the slightly irritating spelling of coffee... what's with the fashion for this at the moment?) is how busy it gets. It is right next to a Starbucks and has completely stolen all of their customers, really. However, this just proves how lovely it is. Unfortunately there is no outside seating either, which I was a little disappointed by on this lovely day. But it is a minor gripe because the inside is decorated in such a comfortable way. Get in early if you want a seat and be prepared for a little bit of a wait. However, you'll find the staff friendly and unharrassed despite the busyness.

This is not their only idiosyncrasy... check out the picture of the homemade cakes! Here you will find a silver coloured statuette of The King, Mr. Presley himself, alongside a white rose in a half pint ladies glass. It's pure kitsch that warms the cockles of my heart, and adds a real quirky flavour to this otherwise unremarkable café. Having said that, it's a café that makes homemade food with care and attention, but with so many other establishments doing the same in this area, this alone does not make it outstanding. They have a sweet little garden out the back, which catches the sun when it's out. The food is not very adventurous, but it's well made, and the prices are reasonable. The couple that own and run it are quirky and pleasant enough. They are not likely to be bestowed with the attentions of Egon Ronay or those very nice men from the Michelin Guide, but they serve well priced food in pleasant surroundings, and that's good enough for me!

I am American and a sucker for diners back home (especially in New Jersey) so when I discover Americana like this, I always have to check it out. So my daughter and I did just that (she goes to the local university). I ordered one of the burgers which, I must say, was pretty darn good! She also had one and loved it just as much. They were reasonably priced as well. I don't remember the prices but did take a photo of the menu, so you can check it out here. The desserts were also good - and fattening, especially the milkshakes and cheese cake. Sure, it was an American style diner and for the 45 minutes or so that we were there, I could have imagined being back home. Regardless, it was a nice break and a nice little slice of the USA for homesick Yanks and anybody wanting so decent grub.
