They say that if there's anything they can do to make your workout better they'll do it, and they mean it. I even asked for a standing floor bag (gym was equipped with a hanging one) for my martial arts exercises and they got one! Staff cleans regularly, prices are reasonable, and it's open 24 hours with a key tag.

Meaning you go there, with no contract, pay your monthly fees, lift weights, and get out. The rules are relaxed. Many people workout without a shirt. Pros: it's old school. Lift weights, do cardio, grunt, yell and so forth. It's 24 hours. Everyone is friendly. Owned by wonderful people. The price cannot be beat. Cons: no AC but the doors are always open letting air flow through. The blue tooth radio is iffy so bring headphones or an aux cable for the speakers. Most of the cardio machines are squeaky. They are always renovating to improve the gym (can be a pro or con). The teens that go in don't know how to clean up after themselves.

My regular readers know i am a stingy old scrooge when it comes to five star ratings. Impress me…read more Zephyr's Fitness has earned its stripes in my opinion. Here is why: Before heading over to Northern Ohio i did A-LOT of research on gyms. Cooked them all down into two possibilities. One near the office up by Cleveland and one near Orville OH. All of the others are weight loss focused. Not weight training. Think squat racks, deadlifts, weights crashing, and soaked shirts. I better stop there before i digress into something not suitable for those with weak hearts and young children. Let's talk about the owner. To know the owner is to know the gym. This is a man with a solid physic, quite demeanor, with a deep well of determination and focus. He is an integral member of the community from what i can tell. The kind of person everyone should have in there life for all sorts of good reasons. He is often present. Either working out himself or getting to know his members. Often both simultaneously from what i have noticed. Be prepared for him to introduce himself at some point. Maybe you can beat him to it and introduce yourself. So good friendly energy at this gym. The gym is carved up into a few different areas. The main gyms is surrounded by a track for laps or to walk off stiff muscles. The middle is halved by an area that is often used to push or drag weights, lunges and other exercises that requires some room to roam. The front section isolation machines and cardio machines. All new and in great shape. Minimal duplicate machines are available if it gets busy but so far it has not been an issue. The second half is free-weights. With three squat racks, hack squat, small leg press, two smith machines, six assorted bench presses. and other equipment. Lots of action in this area. It is open and welcoming without feeling like your on display. The "Jungle" is a walled off area behind a large industrial but windowed garage door. This area is for those on a mission. The chalk can be found here. Along with loud noises, heavy weight, and worn machines. Each has likely seen a lot of blood, sweat and tears offered up on there alters over the years. The section next to it has a warmup area, at least that how i use it. Stretching, some machines, some tired jump-ropes, bands and so on. Next to this area is the cross fit area. This is in effect another whole building to which i will have to defer to someone who knows it better than I. The gym has a good sound system that plays some decent 80's. There are nooks to store your stuff. Lockers are available but i am not sure how that all works. The front desk is staffed M-F. But weekend coverage is iffy at best. BUT and this is a big BUT, is the doors are locked and you cannot get in without a token. You only get a token if your monthly member. So what about us daily folks you ask. We are F@%$!. Yep, say a prayer and hope someone see's you awkwardly pressing your face up against the one-way glass from the outside. Wave and knock and make all kinds of motions. That's what i do. I try and make it totally awkward for everyone inside trying there best not to see or acknowledge me. It really gets fun when a member comes walking around the corner and beeps in. It must be pretty funny for those driving by as well. I try and put on a good show. Waiting for the police to show up to haul me off. So a word of warning... you may not want to gulp down your pre-workout until you know you can get in if your a daily like me. So call and make sure. Sometime the phone lines go straight to VM on Saturday. Sunday nobody is there to let you in. Once your in you can pay the 10 bucks. But getting through those doors is a craps shoot on the weekend at least. Given the limited options for those committed to training, Zephyr's is a keeper. Worthy of my 30 minute commute each way to partake in its offerings.

It's 1053.. im leaving the gym... I was called out by the…read morefront desk lady today for parking in a parking spot for another business that wasn't even open! In the middle of my workout she was very clearly agitated and decided it was appropriate to vacuum around me during my work out. She shuts the vacuum off to talk with other members. All I can hear is her loudly and profanely talk down upon the younger generation for "feeling entitled" (this is probably the 10th time ive heard her talking down upon people and I really dont come here that often let alone to show up and hear someother womans opinion. People dont want to hear this stuff while they are trying to work on themselves)... Today was one of many unpleasant experiences that did not sit with me well. The vibe in this gym is getting toxic due the way things are being approached. When I signed up here It was explained I shouldn't park in these parking spaces during business hours per the business owner's requests from Snap fitness and the new gaming place. I will have you know I checked the city of garettsville parking policies and when you can be ticketed for an ordinance. This instance of me parking here outside of business hours was not on the docket sweets. So if both businesses would like to enact an ordinance for the parking by all means, attend a board meeting and get it moving but im pretty sure if youre leasing that is not something that will happen. The lady at the front desk put up a sign after all of this saying not to park in the other spots of the other businesses. I took a picture for reference and plan to share where ever I can. I also took a picture of the hours for the new gaming business which stated they weren't open until noon today. I know after today and my other Bad experiences, I won't be returning to this location and more than likely won't give my money to business that is supporting demeaning the younger generations...we are responsible for showing them how it's done and today's customer service in a small time gym was SUBPAR...I dont come here to cause a fuss. I come here to make others aware of the stereotyping that is blatantly going on. This is a business...remember your customers don't need you...im one of them from a some what younger generation who is very aware of my rights and very aware of how to find out what is and isn't illegal. So I must say "No thank you Garettsville Snap". I appreciate these last 8 months of coming here intermittently but you have some work to do on your own demeanor lady. Social skills 2/10! Quote from some one "Be the change you want to see in others"...it will reflect in others. For the record, you could always park further away from the building to please your customers and allow them the front parking spot you always park in. ‍ but hey what do I know being younger... What I can share is the equipment here is is alright definitely not the best. But it works so there's that. I will also say I get super grossed out smelling the cleaners they use here. It's smells like ant spray. The worst part is the front desk lady's approach to people she doesn't know at all. Stereotyping people only causes problems.

They attempt to sign you up for 6 to 12 months of training with a 3 month minimum. DONT EVEN SIGN UP FOR 3, YOU'LL REGRET IT! They also try to double team you with a tough guy sitting in the corner during the sales pitch. The stereotypes are definitely true for scummy gym sales tactics here at Snap Fitness in Kent. Second it seems like all their trainers are non-certified college kids and they kept getting fired or totally ghosting me. The first trainer I had was fired for sexual harassment from what a gym manager told me.. so just a taste of what they are hiring I guess.
