I recently played a round at Coulee with a group of longtime friends, all in our mid-forties, professionals, and avid golfers. We wore proper golf attire, repaired divots, kept pace, and treated the course with respect. Many of us are members at private clubs in our respective hometowns, and we understand what it means to uphold course etiquette. Unfortunately, our visit was overshadowed by the most hostile, unpleasant and unprofessional interaction I have had with a staff member, not just on a golf course, but in any phase of my life for 48 years. On the fifth hole, I hit a shot that landed on the first fairway. The holes run parallel with a creek in between, and in trying to retrieve my ball; we could not see a nearby bridge (which was obscured by brush and behind us). We opted to circle through the parking lot to access hole one. After checking to ensure no one was hitting, we drove briefly down the first fairway to retrieve the ball. At that point, a staff member came speeding toward us in a cart, cut us off aggressively, and began shouting in a way that was extremely confrontational and excessive. With a beat red face and spittle spraying out of his mouth between his yellow teeth he tore into us for several minutes. Despite our immediate apologies and explanation, that we simply missed the bridge and meant no disrespect, he continued barking at us and increasing his volume until it looked like he was hoping for a fight. This alarming reaction to a nothing incident made us think that we were dealing with a possibly violent and mentally ill individual. We tried to de-escalate the situation by remaining calm and respectful, but the staff member persisted, yelling and screaming at us until he finally tired himself out. It was unlike any customer service interaction I have experienced, especially in a setting that should be relaxed and welcoming. A supervisor later approached us and offered a brief, dismissive explanation: "That's just Rodney. He said you were racing the carts." This felt more like an excuse than an apology, and it did nothing to address the hostility we experienced. We met the GM later who was pleasant and kind but it was interesting that she acknowledged being familiar with Rodney's attitude and she chooses to keep him on staff. The lack of professionalism and courtesy from the staff at Coulee did not just leave a lasting negative impression, but will be a story that I remember for the rest of my life as very likely the worst customer experience I have ever had. I would strongly caution others to consider their options before golfing here, especially if you don't enjoy your golf with a side of unhinged rage and aggression. read more

Good service, well timed meal and fair prices. We will be back for the fish fry. We tried a small meat pizza as an appetizer, very thin crispy crust. We will be back for a different style of this too. This was our first visit. A fast 20 minute wait at 5:30 on the first Friday of Lent. Not bad at all! 2 pieces of battered cod $9.99 and 3 $10.99. Fries or baked potato, roll and choice of another side. Sizable casual menu. Looking forward to trying sandwiches. Steaks are priced well, can't wait to visit again. We brought home two fish pieces and my baked potato along with the half pizza. read more

This review is for the bowling alley. Played three games, second and third game the pinsetter broke down. Never got to play the 10th frame on the third game as the attendant, who couldn't care less, said it was because he had to reset the pinsetter in the third game, the pinsetter shut off because of the reset in the second game, so I was shorted the 10th frame. A machine might be counting the frames and cannot resolve it's own issues. The counter guy was too busy at the bar, and gave no apology and had an attitude. Gave two stars instead of one because the lanes were OK, but was ruined by the two games being interrupted with faulty equipment. Will never go bowling there again. read more

20 family members from various states were gathering here for dinner on 9/8/23. A local family member called ahead 2 different times in the 2 weeks prior to our arrival and was assured a room would be set aside for our party. Upon arrival (on-time) the hostess refused to seat our party and yelled, at least 4 times at the top of her voice, "We can not accommodate you!" The family member said we would gladly sit at separate tables in the main dining area, but was again yelled at with the same phrase. When the family member asked if the hostess would be turning away the next 20 arrivals, the answer was the same - just louder. We all then left and drove to the VFW where we were seated immediately; provided drinks immediately; had our (20) orders taken within 10 minutes and had our food within 20 minutes. The servers at the VFW were showered with our thanks and generous tips. read more

The food is good, but the table service is absolutely lousy.... even when it is not busy, the serving staff just does not have it together. Our waitress said numerous times "sorry, be right back." .....as we waited and waited for drinks/food. Forget the table service and just sit at the bar. For us it is the perfect neighborhood bar. Newly built bar in renovation is comfortable. It is a more mature crowd and it is a great place for conversation and fun with all the locals. Visitors will be treated great as well. Staff consists of employees that do not turnover. They are attentive. This is one of the greater attributes. The menu ventures past traditional bar food with several good entrees. They often have great daily specials and offer a variety of soups that are definitely homemade. Pizzas are homemade and excellent as well. Very good variety, reasonable prices, and great people define this place. read more

My wife and I stopped for lunch during the work week. Each of us ordered a chicken sandwich, and we waited 40 minutes for it to come out. Our server did not come by at any point to say they were behind or there was a mistake with our order. Our food was brought out one minute before my wife and I agreed we would be leaving. The server had no comment at this time and did ask if we needed anything else. We asked for boxes right away as we needed to get back to work. We were brought boxes and our check, and we left without knowing what put our order so far behind all the tables around us. Needless, she didn't received a tip. read more

We are highly disgusted and disappointed in the smoking that is allowed in the outdoor dining section of this restaurant. We stopped by last night with our family of six and were looking forward to enjoying the weather and eating outside. However, when we got outside, three of the tables had multiple smokers, making it absolutely impossible to enjoy a meal let alone breath. I understand it is legal for patrons to smoke in outdoor dining areas per Wisconsin law and unfortunately is up to the owners/management to enforce a no smoking policy. This restaurant is located in a very family oriented neighborhood and you would think management would have some forethought in wanting to bring in families/more revenue by restricting smoking access in the outdoor dining section. It's also a sad and pathetic state of affairs that this day in age, I'm having to write a review about smoking at a restaurant. Until policy is changed we will never be dining there again and I will mention this to friends who also have families in the area to forewarn them. read more

Very disappointed. Left our customary wing night establishment to visit the Coulee Golf on a Wednesday night. Upon entering, the dining room has a posted closed sign, but there are bar tables with diners. We walk in the bar, no hostess to seat us, waitress' walk by, no one asks if we need assistance. So we begin watching for a table to free up. When it looks like a couple are about to become available we stop the waitress to inquire if we can have one of those tables. She then asks did you put a reservation in with the bartender. We reply No and how would we know to do that? There is no posted sign indicating that is the process of seating. No bartender asked if they could assist us. We are standing in the dining room with a grand child, duh? What did they think we wanted? Very poor on everyone's part and they made no comments except to say there are 3 parties ahead of you and you were to put your name in. We were the only ones waiting when we arrived. So after a1/2hour wait to receive NO SERVICE , we are at our usual wing night at the Blue Moon. Seated and eating 15 minutes after we arrived. By the way the Blue Moon is always packed but efficient. Fast, great food, great price and in the future we will continue to patronize them. read more
