Cons- they took two hours to tell me that they needed to order the part for my vehicle. (Not exactly sure what else they were doing to it.) Don't trust the snacks, mainly just the honey buns, from personal experience. Not a lot of communication between staff and customers. Pros- Bathrooms are very clean. 10/10 would throw up in them again. (That's where the honey buns came to play) Staff is very pleasant to speak to, when you can talk to them. Waiting room is pleasant and clean. Nice glass viewing area to see cars pulling in. (just not of the service area) Chairs are comfy. All in all, not a horrible experience. Update: We ended up trading in our car with Coughlin Hyundai for a 2024 Elantra SEL. The audio glitch did not go away after Coughlin KIA did a software upgrade and a subsequent replacement of the entire head unit. We had two options, explore a buyback or pursue a trade-in elsewhere. We never should have left Hyundai to begin with. The reason I updated from a 1 star to a 3 star is because of the guy who oversees the service departments at 4 Coughlin dealerships, Nate Bickel. He regained my trust despite the fact that, even though the KIA Forte is not a good vehicle, he did everything he could to make it right. He gets 5 stars personally, which averages my overall experience to 3 stars. Moral of the story: Nate is a good guy. Stay away from KIAs in my opinion and experience. read more

Abysmal experience for my 19 year old daughter buying her first car. I do blame myself a bit because I let her dad take her and this isn't his forte, but if someone is at a lot for 5 hours while the sales staff try to make it work, it's probably best to wait for another day. After going back the following day to renegotiate the horrible, horrible financing situation they had put her in, we managed to get it to a more reasonable price and situation. However, the car was filthy, full of dog hair, mud, cheerios and sippy cups under the seats. They had given it a quick clean but she was supposed to take it back when the detail team was there. She did not do this partly because she is a full time colleg student and works full time as well, but mostly because no one called her as promised when this 'team' was at the dealership. Because of the age of the car and the very high miles, her dad decided to buy the $3,000 extended warranty, which is probably a waste of time since it doesn't cover anything that wears out. Less than 30 days later, she was driving to work and the brakes completely failed. Luckily she didn't hit anyone but we had it towed to the dealer and were told it wasn't covered in the extended warranty. I spoke to several people at the dealership and was told that the sales people are in charge of decided what needs to be fixed after the 164 point inspection. I was told they replaced spark plugs and changed the front brakes, the back were fine and that this kind of thing can often happen when purchasing a preowned vehicle. They couldn't fix the brakes for us at Coughlin because there were also two recalls on the vehicle, (one dating back to 2022), and we had to take it to an actual Jeep dealer to be fixed. When we got the brakes fixed, ($600), the Jeep dealership told us that the brakes were completely worn away and that this is a common issue with Coughlin. My daughter works less than 2 miles from home and attends most classes online so there is no way the brakes were fine when we left, this was a shoddy, cheap way to sell a car to a vulnurable consumer. Never again and we will continue to tell everyone who wants to listen about this bad experience. read more

I'm OCD so we will start with an itemized list - Branden, the dealer who sold me my current 2024 Kia K5 GT. I never thought i'd be able to own such a wonderful car but this guy sincerely worked the price with me. He was sincere, interpersonal, professional and reasonable. He did not force me to buy GAP, protection plans or warranties(even though I did buy extended warranty). He explained everything and never became frustrated at my fairly stern pricing point. All in all, compared to my previous car purchases it was a very quick, honest and streamlined process. We then spoke for close to an hour while they cleaned out my car and people need to realize, dealers are people, just like us. We had a lot in common and he really did treat me like family. I will definitely be using him as my future dealer for any new car purchases. Thanks again Branden! - Chris, the finance guru who financially closed the deal on my Kia K5 GT. This guy is an actual wizard. We had discussed how much I drive(I put about 15k-20k miles on my car every year) and how much I wanted the 150k extended warranty but at its current price there was no way I could afford it. Chris was able to pull some strings and work on my deal and brought it down to an affordable price point for me(still not sure how he did it). He reviewed all other options available to my car which i politely declined and he did not push any of it on to me which I appreciated. He explained all paperwork before I signed, reviewed what to expect and what to do after my vehicle purchase as well. Chris was, as well, professional, insightful and interpersonal. Had oil changed. While the service department was courteous, it took an hour and twenty minutes. The waiting area cushioned chairs are very low and the plastic chairs uncomfortable after a short time. They did offer free coffee. May go back for service, but will get oil changed at a faster and more comfortable place in the future. read more

But i will say service department and sales people were nice but nobody any help when it came to putting more money in a car than its value. If it hadn't been for the extra insurance I would have been out of pocket alot more than I am. But they should explain that insurance better because it does not cover the whole cost of repairs only the value of car. Now I need to contact someone about mediation because I singed a paper saying I would go to mediation before going any further. Still can't believe they would sell a car like that. I had a pretty disappointing experience here. They advertised a very low price on both their website and through Capital One Car Finder. I was pre-approved for financing before even contacting them, and my credit is 740. After contacting the sales team and allowing them to ping my credit, it took them three days to get back to me with a price thousands higher than what was advertised. The price wasn't terrible, it was about average, but this dealer is not local to me, and I would not have wasted my time contacting them, or have them pull my credit for a deal I could have gotten down the road. I get that dealers advertise prices with rebates already included, this wasn't that. I needed to be military, and trade-in a post 2012 vehicle, and show up to sign papers riding a unicorn for the price they advertised in multiple places. Very frustrating. read more

I've been using these guys for over 5 years as a maintenance place for my cars. They have always provided the best customer service and at a very reasonable price. The service managers have always asked me before doing anything to the car that would require a large amount of money. The best thing about this place is that if they make a mistake they own up to it, apologize and make it right. I'd rather not have mistakes be made but I realize we are all human so they happen. All I ask for is the acknowledgement and to make it right without penalizing me which is what Coughlin customer service does if or when something is done incorrectly. I bought one of my cars from here and they were not your average pressure place trying to tell you anything to get you into a car. They were very good at trying to work with me as they realize that they can make more money from me if they try to keep you me a long-term customer rather than just try to make one sale. I'd recommend this place as a store to buy a car from or to use as a maintenance facility. read more

I have had three KIA Souls (2014 used, 2016 + new, and a 2019+ and I have enjoyed everyone of them. I live 66 miles from Newark and had spoken to them last year about upgrading to a 2021 but something came up (Total Knee replacement) and we couldn't get the deal done. Lately I looked at all the KIA dealers around Columbus, Springfield, Dayton and Cincinnati and they either didn't have the vehicle I was looking for or the price was jacked up because of the new vehicle shortage. I looked at Coughlin KIA again because I had such a pleasant experience dealing with John Harder before. I was looking for a Soul EX, but decide to upgrade to a Soul GT Line instead since their price was straight forward and no jacking up the MSRP. After a little back and forth on my trade-in value I walked away with a 2022 Soul GT Line. My dealing with John, the Sales Manager and Finance Manager were seamless. I will NEVER call them to schedule for another service appointment. The service department doesn't close until 7pm, yet they tell me the latest they can get me in is 2pm. I'm sorry, I work and can't call off work just to come sit with my car for an appointment that only takes an hour. I'm already driving from out of town and I think they would be a little more helpful with scheduling for people from out of town who work normal business hours. The customer service people were not helpful at all. They continuously told me even though the appointment only takes about an hour. The latest appointments they could give me was at 2pm. Now I'm sorry but that math doesn't add up to me. So I called another Kia dealership and low and behold they were able to schedule me as late as 6pm. Thanks but NO THANKS Coughlin Kia.
