Service was below par. We waited a while for drinks when we first sat down and throughout the meal. The Big Tex Nachos were missing ingredients like the pico, jalapeños, and sour cream. Plus there was an over abundance of bell peppers. My husband ordered the chicken tacos and had to send them back. The tortillas were rock hard, the chicken was very dry, and most of the taco was lettuce. The one good thing was the manager was super nice and let him order another meal to go and didn't charge us for it. Been there twice so far and have to say we (wife and I) are very pleased with the experience. Staff has been polite, attentive and quick on the drink refills. Last time there we tried the Beef Tips and Rice (daily special) and the Chicken Fried Steak Bites with and order of the Chicken Fried Bacon. The Steak Bites were amazing as was the Bacon. The Beef Tips were a little under seasoned and could have used a bit more meat. But all in all with the price, the size of the portions and the staff, we were happy with our experience and we'll be back again. read more

I got the chicken fried chicken, okra & mashed potatoes! He got the chicken fried steak & a salad & we both we satisfied with our food & it came fast. Chloe kept our table clean from my drinks & made sure we had everything we needed. we had a friendly experience with our waitress , the manager sophie. (I believe she was a manager or maybe just another waitress who was caring & friendly) *which is always a plus too me!!!!!! And because I had a slight misunderstanding With my drink order & bar tender was very respecful In taking feed back from me as I explained I am former bartender to him. As I explained my situation. & gave advice and friendly tips to get happy customers & they all 3 came to ask how our experience was As we paid. & I tipped GOOD because my waitress definitely deserved it. We will for SURE be back & on a night I don't feel like cooking I'm bringing my kids. It was a very friendly and comfortable environment. It was their night shift & I had 45 mins until closing & I didn't feel rushed or uncomfortable like many restaurants do at closing. This was always a "go to" for us pre-pandemic. Today was our first trip in over a year. Very disappointed. The server was great - but the food sorely lacking. Their signature Chicken Fried Steak was tough & really just disgusting. Same for the garlic mashed potatoes. Side salad - you better like cucumber because that & lettuce was it. Actually, our experience began with a lovely and friendly hostess who made us feel like special guests. Then our waiter Scott made the evening a terrific treat with friendly and professional service. What also impressed us was that all the employees pitched in and did all the jobs needed to make everyone welcome!!! We will definitely be back. So, first time here and last time for sure. Ordered chicken fried steak , with a cup of tortilla soup. GF ordered catfish basket and cup of chicken dumplings. We ordered a half order of fried pickles. Sweet tea and frozen lemonade. Best item of the night? The frozen lemonade. Service was slow. Food was either poorly seasoned or over salty...big time. My ingrediants for the tortilla soup was on a side plate; some cheese, avocado, tomato and cut tortilla strips....unfortunately, these looked old and not appealing to put into the soup...I did so begrudgingly only because the soup was just luke warm and needed help...bleh. It didn't help. Constantly waited for tea refills. GF was not overly impressed with chicken and dumplings, saying they were just so -so. She did say the fish basket was okay, although both of us felt a little queezy after getting home. One thing I hate, it's when a waitress ask if we are ready for the check when it is obvious that we are still eating our dinner. I don't know why, but that just bugs me....it happened here. When I told her sure go ahead and bring it, it still took her 15 minutes to bring it. Lol, not even sure why she asked. I could go on, but quite honestly I don't feel good enough to. I wouldn't eat here again if you paid me. Third strike your out!!!! Tried it twice before and it was terrible service, and the food was mediocre at best. My husband and I decided to try it one more time last night, after hearing it was under new management. Let's just say, nothing has changed. Horrible horrible service once again. The worst yet. The food was terrible and cold. I asked to speak to a manager. He did absolutely nothing to make our dining experience better. I will NEVER dine here again. Cotton Patch Cafe is a good alternative to a home cooked meal in place of rushing home to make dinner after work. I just love meatloaf, mashed potatoes and corn since a child. While this isn't my mommas meatloaf it can stand on its own. I also had their chicken and dumplings and it was very good but the portion was tiny. My boyfriend and I have had 2 poor experiences here out of 2 visits. Sad to say I won't be able to convince him to bring me back. We've experienced getting the wrong food, receiving an extremely small portion of chicken fried chicken, sides being severely overcooked, Dr. Peppers that tasted like Diet Pepsi, and items missing from our meals. Husband and I went here right after they opened and the service was pretty bad but the food was okay. Then my special-needs sister wanted to go here for her birthday. We were a party of eight. It took almost ten minutes to be acknowledged by our server, even though she was taking care of tables around us. Even after she said she'd be right back to get our drink order, it took another five minutes. Then ten more minutes to get the drinks. I set a timer to see how long it would take her to come back for our food order and it was another twelve minutes. Our food came out at different times and our drinks sat empty most of the time. I love the cotton patch locations in Allen and Frisco. I was so excited that they were opening one closer to me in Wylie, but unfortunately I've been disappointed every time. We gave it a fair shot and tried it 3 times. One time they took forever to get our food so the manager gave it to us for free (we didn't complain he just offered.) One time I got a salad and it was covered in water, there was literally a pool of liquid in the bottom of the bowl. I can't remember what happened the last time, but I remember after that we decided we weren't going to be coming back. It seems like there's a lot of teenagers working there? I'm not sure if that's the problem, but it's terrible. read more

Absolute worst dining experience I've ever had. Took the family out for dinner and after over an hour at our table we received drinks and a cold appetizer. I finally stood up to find my waiter because our drinks were empty and still didn't have our food and when she saw me standing she came over to tell me the kitchen lost our order. She didn't offer to get a manager or comp our drinks and appetizer. I told her we were done waiting. So I had to pay $25 for 5 drinks and a cold appetizer and take my family somewhere else for dinner. The funny thing was they weren't packed and everyone else around us seemed to get their food and refills just fine. Pretty sad. I will never Visit this place again. read more

Eaten at Cotton Patch for years in Cedar Hill. Always great. Moved and found one in Wylie. First visit for dinner great. Second visit for lunch VERY DISAPPOINTING! Clearly the "B"staff working. Asked for cobbler dessert to go. Here's how it was given to me with paper and ice cold! Had to ask another waiter if this was how they did things. He took back, removed the paper and returned to me - ice cold! I have never had a more unappealing cobbler in my life. I'm not giving up on this place but the manager REALLY needs to work on stuff. We went yesterday afternoon, not busy at all. We walked in and there was no hostess and dirty dishes on tables. Floor was sticky. Not a good first impression. Once we sat and ordered I got the BLT sandwich and fries. Sandwich was good but the fries were old and stale. $9 bucks for the plate seems high for low quality. I had baja fish tacos and my daughter had steak fingers with fries. The steak fingers were rubbery and had lots of gristle. The fish in the tacos was some sort of greasy mystery "fish" that was greasy and didn't taste good. Came with very oily chips and queso. This was our first time here for lunch. We have eaten at a couple of their other locations and have enjoyed their food and service. Although this place is decorated very differently than the others, the food and service were great. There is kind of a barn motif going on and I think it is fun and works. I want to go here when the big fan is running. Our server said it takes 30 minutes to stop turning when they turn it off. It looks big enough to lift the roof. So when we got in line for 2 they told us 20 - 25 minutes and we were ok with that. Then when people who came after us were seated (other tables of 2 and a table of 13) we inquired why we weren't seated. We were immediately seated at a table that had been empty the entire time. When my wife mentioned this to the manager he said "Sorry it was a mistake". The mistake is hiring people who can't read the list in front of them. Not going back. Ever. read more

This was the worst experience I have had at a restaurant in a long time. I placed an online curb side order. When I got there the slots were all full. The sign said call I called and either got a busy or it would ring so long it would disconnect. I saw people going in and then leaving with nothing and occasionally someone would leave with a bag. The lady next to me got out and came back out. I ask her what was going on. She said her order was supposed to be ready 45 min before, they were not answering and when she went in they had not even begun it. They took her name and said they would refund her later. I had my dog with me not expecting to get out so that was not an option for me. An employee came out and started talking to cars but had no idea what was going on.
