I've had excellent care, including several Cerec crowns to replace older amalgam fillings that were breaking down. My treatment plans are always explained satisfactorily and I've never felt like unnecessary work was being tacked on. While major dental work is rarely a fun activity, I've appreciated that pain control is taken seriously here. My previous dentist was the "You can feel that? Oh, just hold on, I'm almost done," type, so prior to coming to Festival Dental, I believed that some level of pain was just part of any dental work. I can honestly say that I've never had any major pain during any procedure here. If I'm feeling discomfort, I'm given another injection, no questions asked. I won't go anywhere else for a filling or crown as long as Dr. Mallory is at this location. I do agree that there were some significant front office staff issues and had some ridiculous billing mistakes a few years back (like sending my husband's bill to my insurance carrier, then billing me when the claim was denied), but I haven't had any problems since then. I believe those problems were largely due to the staff at the time and thankfully, none of those people still work there. The new office manager is a welcome change and he seems genuinely happy to be there. He remembered me from my call to schedule earlier that week and was competent and efficient. I've never had any difficulty scheduling appointments and appreciate the later office hours on Tuesdays. I've not had excessive wait times either in the reception area or while in the exam rooms. I don't bring my daughter to this office because it doesn't feel as kid-friendly as the other dentist in Surprise that my family uses. The office could use some updating and a fresh coat of paint back in the exam rooms.

I even look forward to my next appointment, something I have never felt about a dentist's office. I did, however feel a bit uncomfortable with the front desk personnel. They did not wear masks. I think we need to take this virus more seriously for the sake of the elderly... and others, in general. I will be returning, however, because the doctor and hygienist's professionalism outweighs the lack of empathy of the front desk.

I called and booked a basic cleaning/exam. New patient. 79$ deal. Spoke to them a few times on the phone to confirm date and time. I'm New to the area so still trying to find the perfect match for me. They never mentioned anything about it only being an exam, to see if you qualify for a cleaning. And there is a chance they may not do one. Never mentioned once. I figured having a basic cleaning Shouldn't be an issue since I had a deep scaling and cleaning done 3-4 months ago. They refused to let me get a basic cleaning. They spent an hour and a half doing everything but a cleaning. Basically fishing for any and all things they can charge me for. And trying to fill Me with fear that all other dentists I've gone to don't know what they are doing - yet they are the saving grace and had all the answers to problems, nobody else knew to conquer. Pushing fear about all these new findings. ( that weren't there 4 months ago ) Claiming that a basic cleaning could severely risk my health and well being and they absolutely cannot do one under any circumstance. Even though every other dentist I've ever seen in my entire 49 years of appointments regularly, have been able to perform a basic cleaning with no problem whatsoever. I regularly get cleanings. Never had a cavity. Or major issues. But waited a little longer than I'd hoped to get a deep scaling done. You'd think I was an ex crack head and had major infections to address and it was dangerous for them to proceed. Dentists are horrible these days and it's hard to find really honest ones. They have a quota to meet and they try to add it on to every patient that walks in the door. Pushing unnecessary treatment plans and loads of fear mongering to create never ending reasons for a patient to come back and drop more money. You're better off to find an independent hygienist that doesn't have quotas to meet and can be transparent about what's needed. Lesson learned for the future on my part. There were several opportunities for them to be transparent about the appointment. 2 prior phone calls and in person form signing at the desk. Plus several people in the chair prior to the exam when I again asked and communicated my situation. I was completely ignored and funneled into a hustle session. I made it clear why I was there and what I needed from the start. They chose to be dodgy about communicating- didn't even mention they may not be able to and or weren't gonna do a cleaning - until it was too late for me to cancel and leave. l got duped and walked out with no cleaning done. Just a treatment plan for all new "findings" the "advanced AI" machine locates, that of course magically appeared within 4 months. Didn't have any of these issues within the last year of appointments/scans and X-rays I've had. They are the first dentist in 49 years to not be able to perform a basic cleaning on me. Ridiculous to think I need to get another deep cleaning just under 4 months after I had already had one? Who does that. As if it won't hurt to wait a little longer to let my bank account rest. The next day - the Manager on phone agreed that the team should have communicated to me what the protocol was prior , but took zero accountability for the fact that all 6 people I engaged with prior, chose not to. Any dentist that can't take ownership of their lack of transparency and communications for a new patient and protocols - is sketchy. Honesty will get you everywhere. Scamming people will cost you clientele

My issue isn't that my new insurance wasn't accepted......it's the stale customer service I received. During my appointment, the receptionist working at the far-left front desk told me she had never heard of my insurance and would have to create a provider portal to understand my benefits. After that, she just stared at the computer in silence. There was no explanation of what she was doing, no reassurance, and no attempt to help me understand my options. Eventually, I was asked if I wanted to self-pay or reschedule, despite nothing being figured out. I called later hoping for more information, and I'm fairly certain I spoke with the same receptionist. The phone interaction was just as disappointing. There was an awkward pause before she even greeted me. After I explained I was calling about my insurance, she asked what it was, immediately responded, "We don't take that," and then there was complete silence. No suggestions, no guidance, no "I'm sorry," no recommendation to check with my insurance for an in-network provider...nothing. I ended up saying, "Okay, thank you, bye," because the conversation had gone nowhere. Everyone else I've interacted with over the years has been great, but the receptionist working at the far-left front desk left a lasting impression on me and unfortunately, not a positive one. Customer service doesn't require having all the answers. It requires communication, empathy, and making patients feel like you're at least trying to help. I left the office feeling dismissed, and after being a patient here for years, that was incredibly disappointing.
