I hired CottageCare to clean my apartment, but I ended up being terribly disappointed. I found them advertising on Amazon Local advertising the following: Valid for up to 3,000 square feet including up to 3 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, and common areas such as living, dining, and family rooms, kitchen, and foyer; additional fees apply for anything over 3,000 square feet Cleaning of kitchen includes: countertops scrubbed down, sinks scoured, and exterior cleaning of appliances and cabinets Excludes move-in/move-out cleanings; valid on regular cleanings only First, they did a poor job of explaining their services. I expected a deep-cleaning, so I made sure to pick up everything on the floor, and to crate my two cats. What I got was a regular house-cleaning service that was terribly sub-par. My paid value was $79 dollars for a total value of $185, and I feel like I still got really ripped off. To start off with, the cleaning lady used my vacuum instead of her own, an ended up breaking the belt on it. Yes, she did a fair job of cleaning my bathroom, but she only cleaned 1 of 2 bathrooms in a small four-bedroom apartment. I didn't see any evidence that she even touched the kitchen or even vacuumed the living room at all. My roommate was home at the time, and he reported that she was only there for about 45 minutes before she left. If you want to sample their services, go ahead and try your luck, but buyer beware. I have had much better work done for far less. Hell, pay a college student from the U $30, and they will do a much better job in the same amount of time. read more

I couldn't be more disappointed by this company. I used them one time for a deep cleaning and scheduled monthly cleanings after that. I have since discontinued my service due to poor managers out of the Bloomington office. I was working with John out of the Bloomington office and never received replies to my emails or phone calls. The customer service was so dismissive and rude. I would not recommend this service. There are many other good options out there. read more

If you are looking for a fantastic cleaning company i highly recommend this company! The Customer service team do a wonderful job setting up new cleans, the prices are affordable and scheduling is unbelievably easy and flexable. No fee for reschedules and the cleaning staff do a fantastic job taking a dirty dusty house and turning it into a spotless masterpiece! Dusting, making beds, taking out the garbage, vacuuming and hand washing the floors. Scrubbing bathrooms to the point of sparkly clean. Absolutly nothing better then to leave the house for a couple hours and come home to a clean house!! I have had cottage care for years. I've been able to have the same cleaner for almost the whole time. She's the best. I love her and so does my dog. During the time I've had their service I've moved a few times. They did the most fantastic cleaning of the my homes after we moved out. I was lucky I could I still use them after I moved. And one of the moves was a ways out. When things have come up and I asked if I could change the cleaning date they have always been so accommodating. They will blow off an appointment without any notice! Having never used Cottage Care, I booked an appointment after getting a coupon in the mail to clean the place we were moving into. I had it scheduled so that the old tenants moved out in the morning and the Cottage Care team was coming at noon. We were to move in the next day. I booked the Cottage Care appointment at least 2 weeks out. To be fair, they gave me a window, saying they'd show up between 12 and 1. Fair enough. At 1:15, John called to tell me the cleaners were "stuck at another job" and couldn't make it in time. Just like it was any old thing -- whoops we can't make it. He completely blew me off. I asked him how he was going to make it right and he said he would do something and get back to me. I then frantically called everyone from Craigslist I could find (and searched other cleaning companies that book 2 weeks out in vain) and booked another cleaner, because I was sure I had been completely blown off. Let me stress again his completely nonchalant attitude toward fixing the issue he created -- he just didn't seem to care at all. I was sure I had to find someone else. Who wouldn't be with this attitude? Flexible scheduling may be fine with people who have a flexible schedule -- if, for example, they clean houses for a client every week and they're not depending on them cleaning at a certain time. That was not the case for me. He called me back at 1:45 to let me know that one of the cleaners was "on the way," but by then I had miraculously found another cleaner (whom I waited for for another hour). Did you really think I was going to count on him to "make it right?" I told him to forget it. John -- here is what good customer service looks like: You call me to say "My cleaners are running a little late -- what is your schedule like? How can we accommodate your needs? When do you need the place done by?" And then you figure it out, even if it means that YOU PERSONALLY show up with a mop in your hands and get started until the other cleaners can get there. You don't just say "They're not going to make it in time," 15 minutes AFTER they are supposed to show up! You wasted 3 hours of my time during a very busy 48 hour stretch and put me in a very difficult position. NEVER using them again. read more

Each time we used Cottagecare, a different cleaner showed up. Things that were supposed to be cleaned were not. Unreliable - we couldn't rely on getting calls returned and cleaning scheduled. There are many better options out there. read more
