Consistently excellent Greek salads I love them because they put the right amount of all the ingredients never changes so good. We also really like the sauce the tomato sauce on their pizzas. I also appreciate that they support the local athletic teams with fun little coupons. read more

For a place that looks like they're always short staffed (I have yet to see more than two people at a single time) They have always been nice to me. I ordered a few weeks ago and ordered over a $100 worth of food. I know they were VERY BUSY, They ended up forgetting my 8pc regular inn stix. I called just to let them know and the manager (I think he was the manager) His name was Tommy. He was very apologetic and once my wife got to their store he ended up just giving us a large order for the inconvenience AND gave a credit on our account. I understand that things may get crazy sometimes, Mistakes happen. This is why we continue to go back. Customer service is half the battle. read more

Spoke with the "manager Jake" this evening. Placed an order at 5:27pm, in which I was told my order would be delivered by 6:12pm. No problem. Paid about $30 for my food & tipped the driver. Called at 6:20 pm inquiring about my delivery. In which Jake said it was ready whenever the driver got back and should be here at my door in the next 10 minutes. At 6:32 I received a call from delivery driver stating he was here. When I received my food it was cold, the cheese was firm and not even melted anymore. See pictures. I called the store 4 times, starting at 6:36 PM to let him know my food was cold. Did not get an answer until the 4th call. Jake said he'd issue a 10$ credit on my account, what is a 10$ credit? My food was over $30 and it was cold. He told me I could return the pizza and get new. With over an hour delivery time the first time, and having driver come pick it up, then have it remade, and brought back. So I'm looking at what, 2 & 1/2 hours? I have a 10 year old that needs to eat before bed for school tomorrow. I stated that id rather leave a bad review and microwave my food. Can't risk him spitting in it. Hard to imagine a worse experience. Sat outside over 10 minutes getting a busy signal trying to call to let them know I was there to pickup my order. Finally went up to the door and knocked...person inside made call gesture and I gave my best "it's busy" gesture back. Obviously didn't work or they didn't care because it took several more minutes for someone to come out. Customer service severely lacking. Get the food home and the pizza is garbage...crust has the taste and consistency of a biscuit, piles of pepperoni on a few slices, other slices lacking pepperoni...in other words just thrown on. Several slices with the sauce going over the edge...again thrown on...and way over-sauced. Ordered inn sticks for the first time and they were for the most part not sticks and most of them were borderline over-cooked and hollow. Worst pizza in town by far. Never again. read more

We have ordered from here twice recently, and both times had issues. We like the pizza, but it appears we are not the only one seeing these concerns as the problems we have encountered seem similar to those in the other reviews. The first issue was we ordered a pizza for pickup and included an extra topping. We were charged for the topping, but it didn't make it on the pizza. Ok, stuff happens, so we called them back and got credited for the amount of the extra topping. (All of $2...) We were told it was difficult as they had to cancel the order and charge the card again. OK, I understand. Thanks for helping us out by giving us back what we ordered and didn't get. Again, stuff happens, right? Tonight, as part of my order I include a "Flavorful Vegetarian" gourmet pizza. I pickup the pizza and get it home - no vegetables. I call back the store and ask, "Did I mess something up or was this prepared incorrectly?" Answer from person answering the phone: "You messed up. You didn't choose vegetables to go on the pizza." So, I got a $15.99 cheese pizza??? I try another tack, "Did you think maybe since a 'Flavorful Vegetarian' pizza was ordered that there was an issue when the order came through with no vegetables???" And the answer I would have never expected: "Sir, we get people that order a vegetarian pizza with no vegetables all the time and eat it like a cheese pizza." So now I have to step back and ask myself, "Am I the stupid one here? Or am I just one of many that don't realize that vegetable have to be chosen, unlike any other gourmet pizza on the menu where all the ingredients are chosen ahead of time? Is that the case, that the Dexter Cottage Inn on Broad Street gets away with charging people $15.99 for a cheese pizza because of how the online ordering is set up?" Answer: "Yep, I'm the stupid one for continuing to go to the Dexter Cottage Inn." Don't be like Joe. Don't be stupid. Don't go to the Dexter Cottage Inn. (And, Dexter Cottage Inn, don't bother to post on here to ask me to contact you so you can resolve the issue. This is obviously an ongoing systemic issue. It's been at least a year since we've ordered from here and I have to say we were very disappointed. We ordered 2 specialty pizzas - the "favorite" and a BLT. The "favorite" had almost no mushrooms and the BLT had only a few slices of tomato, a pile of very brown, wilted lettuce and very little bacon. The crust on both pizzas was also very flavorless and chewy! Not sure what's happened but this used to be a place we looked forward to get pizza from...no longer! read more

While I hate to leave a bad review in the middle of Covid, but rudeness should not be a regular occurrence. This is the third time the person who runs the pizzas to the cars has been absolutely rude and ridiculous. There were many cars outside waiting to pick up orders. As instructed, I called the number to let them know that we were here but it was busy and it continued to be busy 15 minutes past the time we were supposed to pick up. I got out of my car and when the lady came back out I asked her politely, "how would you like us to let you know that we are here when the phone is busy? " she proceeded to say "maam when I am holding hot food don't talk to me". She said a few other rude things, held her hand up and went inside. This is third time she has been unnecessarily rude. And we will no longer order there. I like supporting small local businesses but we will choose another local one. read more

The owner of this Cottage Inn should just sell it and move on. This might improve the rating by a few stars. He has put very little into the business as can be seen just by using the mens room. Towel dispenser has been broken for at least 2 years. Toilet paper is often out of paper. 2 Sneeze shield on the salad bar have also been missing for a long time. Obviously he just does not care about his customers and needs to GO! . Pizza's are hit and miss on quality. Noon salad and pizza bar can be terrible, often out of salad ingredients and pizzas. Sadly this place used to be OK a few years ago. My visit today will be my last ever until I see a sign "under new owner/management" in the window read more

Basic pizza that is usually too greasy and every single time I order carry out they grossly under estimate how long it takes to make the pizza. They say 25 minutes, I show up and have to wait 30 more minutes for my pizza each time. And they aren't even busy. I would suggest ordering from somewhere else if you can. Annoying. read more

I've ordered from this location twice and both times they forgot part of my order. First time they didn't bring a drink and said that on our next order they would give us a free one. Next time we ordered they forgot one of our subs. When I called they acted like they didn't want to come back out to fix their mistake. This restaurant used to be one of my favorites, not so anymore! It has quickly been going down hill. Quality of the pizza has greatly lessened, crust is like cardboard. There used to many hot fresh pizzas on the buffet, now only dry bits and pieces and long waits for new ones. Help is surly. Have to ask them for more plates and silverware (which never looks very clean). The salt and hot pepper shakers are seldom refilled. The pop dispenser was broken. Ever since the new ownership took over this place has been a disaster. The pizza is still tasty, but the service is a mess. We've had multiple pickup orders with incorrect ingredients over the past few months, and the breadsticks have so much butter that it seeps through the box into your car. But the worst experience I've had is today, where the restaurant has only managed to put our four pizzas for the buffet over 25 minutes during the middle of lunch rush. The buffet table literally hasn't had a piece of pizza sit on it for more than 20 seconds before it's gone. Are you kidding me? I think there are only two people working here. This place is always horribly understaffed. Can someone else please buy this franchise and turn it into a functional Cottage Inn again? read more

We live in dexter and have ordered from this location quite a few times. I always get the veg gluten free pizza. It always comes hot and really good. Everything we get is usually delivered super fast and very tasty. Not sure why there are negative reviews. We'll always order from Dexter Cottage Inn. OK, tried them again and asked if they used sulfites on their lettuce. Order taker gave me the manager who didn't seem to know what sulfites were but said no...they use pre-packaged lettuce. But she didn't offer to look at the ingredients either so we decided to skip a salad. She acted exasperated with me. So I ordered a specialty pizza. When it came it was so salty we could hardly get it down. We were not sure they did not do it on purpose because of my conversation with the manager. It was horrible. Great pizza! We were in visiting family from out of town and stopped here to pick up some pizza. I took the cashiers recommendation and ordered the chicken Mediterranean pizza, deep dish style. This is my favorite place when I cone to Michigan and almost a must when in town. The dexter cottage inn is pretty good and their pizzas are cottage inn standard. 12th stop. Fiancee and I stopped in here, grabbed a pizza to go, and headed over to the park to eat. Pizza was one of the more expensive we've tried in Dexter but thought that was OK at the time given the "gourmet" tag they use. This pizza was anything but gourmet. It was easily one of the worst pizzas we tried in Dexter. Crust tasted like nothing and had no crunch. The pizza sauce was very sweet and there was way too much of it. Cheese was the consistency of plastic and the toppings looked the same as what you get on the $5.99 special from Dominoes. So they get a 2 for promoting a gourmet pizza and charging me for a gourmet pizza, but serving me up a big chain carryout special. read more

We placed an order at 10am to be delivered by 12:30. Still wasn't there by 12:45 so we called. They said the driver was late and it was on the way. Called again at 1 and they were rude and said a driver didn't show up but it would be on the way. Our pizza finally showed up over 50 minutes after it was supposed to and was cold.
