I started out by trying multiple studios around the West LA area, and decided to get a monthly membership at Natural Pilates. The difference between here and other studios is mainly the quality of the instructors. Dayanara and Devon have been my absolute go-tos every week and I've seen the BEST changes in my strength, body, and mood. They're both such incredible teachers I would never leave because of them! The instructors are attentive and always change it up so it never feels repetitive. You'll always feel the workout the next day, which means it's working! :) Natural Pilates is the best Pilates studio in LA by far, so look no further if you're searching for a spot.

The facility is…read morebeautiful, the staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming, and even the parking situation is surprisingly easy -- which already feels like a win in LA. But the real standout is Gabriel Guadalajara and his Killer Core class. WOW. Gabriel is phenomenal. Every single class is thoughtfully designed with a unique combination of exercises that challenge not just your core, but your entire body. Be prepared to sweat... a lot in the best way possible. What I love most is how Gabriel brings together mind, body, and spirit during the 50-minute workout. It's more than just fitness -- it's empowering. He somehow pushes you past your limits while making you tap into this inner warrior spirit you didn't even know you had. The energy in the room is unmatched, and you leave feeling stronger physically and mentally every time. If you're looking for a workout that will challenge you, inspire you, and leave your core on fire, I strongly recommend taking Gabriel's Killer Core class. You absolutely will not regret it!

Christina - I know if I'm taking Christina's class, I'm going to work, and I'm going to struggle walking the following day. I believe her abs and glutes are the most focused and targeted interpretation, which is perfect. She likes to remind us that we chose to be there. So true! Esther - Esther's classes are like going to a spa. Not to say they're easy and breezy (especially when she's feeling spicy), it's just her energy is so grounded and supportive, you feel like you're at a retreat. Her flows are so flowy and natural. Impossible not to love. She is the antithesis of the mean girls Pilates stereotype. I would go so far as to say she is the backbone of the community. Queen Esther! Janiece - I am beyond lucky that I get to practice with Janiece twice a week--spoiled! Her classes remind me of a Montessori approach: holistic, prepared environment, encouraged to follow your own pace while she observes and supports, which fosters a love for the practice. You know how in order to bend rules you must first master them? That's Janiece; she has some of the most unique flows. Also, she is a DJ. A legit, crazy talented DJ. Janina - The goddess mastermind behind the entire operation that is Evoken. Her classes are fast paced and challenging--she is well known for making people sweat. I almost never break in her class because the constant forward-motion vibe is addictive. Love when she plays afrobeats. She has a special talent of cherry picking only the best instructors for us. Thank you, Janina! Jennifer - I wish I could take Jennifer's classes more often--she is amazing. When the timing aligns, it's really a treat, because I enjoy her class so much, it's so invigorating. I love how she describes why specific movements aid in overall wellness and the aging process, which naturally inspires me to perfect my form and push myself in the best way. She's a force! Kevin - I can't properly describe how fun Kevin's classes are. It literally feels like a party, and for some reason, I feel like his classes snatch me the most. Time flies, the energy is infectious, and the music is always perfectly nostalgic--pop divas and masterfully curated Y2k divinity! Somehow each class is a different playlist...I don't know how he does it. Teo - Apparently has never done ballet, but must've been a dancer in a past life because he teaches like a ballet master. His adjustments have changed the way I practice forever, and the individual attention he gives is unmatched and impressive. Don't take his class if you want to fly under the radar; he has eyes on the back of his head. Also, his 10 seconds is about 20 for the rest of us

You MUST make an account online before your first class. You cannot sign up friends. You cannot walk in late to class. You cannot move your spot in the class. He assigns you wherever he likes it seems. Also there is no phone number for the studio and emails are returned to sender. I had never taken Lagree before, so the machine is quite foreign to me. He pointed at colored zones and wiggled handles. He said absolutely no modifying body positions. When the class started I was clearly struggling. His proprietary grip socks don't account for being on your toes so I slid off the machine. He didn't offer help or any guidance. Just told me to leave. Long story short avoid Mikael. Avoid Lagree underground unless you are already familiar with the gear the movements and the class unless you prefer a hostile trainer and no guidance. Long story long; I signed up well in advance of the class and wanted to bring a friend so I used a class pass to reserve a 2nd seat after his online system wouldn't allow me to log out or make her an account, emails were sent back undeliverable and there is no listed phone number. The morning of the class Mikael messages me from his private cell, and his first contact is to tell me he is cancelling the 2nd seat for the class. I ask him please not to and that we will happily pay additional fees and work it out when we arrive. He says no. Make a new account or no class. I tell him fine but this seems hostile and try AGAIN to make my friend an account which isn't possible btw. You cannot make a new account from a laptop only a phone and one account per phone. After much back and forth he sets up the account. I thought it was all a misunderstanding and try to move forward. We show up early to the class. Sign the waivers, buy socks and water (he kept my cc on file btw) he gives the most cursory gesturing explanation of the machines says the class 'moves fast' and is nothing like Pilates. Sets us up on machines in different rows on opposite sides of the room and walks away. The class starts and I am clearly struggling with the number/color ambiguous movement descriptions. He offers no help. After only 5 minutes I get off the machine and go to talk to my friend who is also struggling and also not getting help. Then suddenly he cares. I tell him I'm scared of falling off the machine and need some help and guidance. He says no. He says he can refund me but I can't move to the machine near my friend and can't sit in the room. I must go to the front waiting area or leave. I've taken tons of different classes in LA and all over the globe. I love trying out new classes and testing new ways to enhance my fitness. This was not a remotely positive experience for me. I go to classes for guidance and oversight. I go to share the experience with friends, learn new moves, and have the camaraderie and energy of others all working towards their own goals. This was independent, hostile and frankly embarrassing.

The next day I was the perfect amount of sore, whereas other studios/instructors I have been painfully sore the next day. First of all, the studio is located on the bottom floor of a private training gym called Fitness Factory. There is a parking lot, but unfortunately those who are going to Jenny Tate can't park in the lot. So, parking was a bit hard to find but I managed to find a metered street spot. Sucks that you have to pay for parking when you come take a class here! Guy was great, very friendly and helpful. He took the time to learn everyone's names and provided modifications for beginners and those with injuries. He wasn't judgmental like a lot of pilates instructors I've had in LA are. I can't wait to come back!
