This place is amazing! The people are so friendly, the aesthetic is divine, and the classes are hard, hot, and humbling. When I found out this studio was not only 10 minutes away from home, had free parking and infrared, I was in. I took Bailey's 9 am mat Pilates and wow did it rock me (in the best way). They have hiit, yoga, mat Pilates and more. Will definitely be coming back! See you on the mat.

first of all, my favorite studio of all time just overall. the vibes are unmatched every time. second of all, went to take a class today on my bday but got stuck in traffic in BH :( so when i arrived was too late to enter class as the doors had closed (totally understandable), but was SO touched because when i got there they had the sweetest birthday note for me and gave me a credit for a future class wanted to share a big thank you for making such an effort to make me feel special on my bday. won't be late next time x

Easily my favorite studio in LA for Pilates. This place is clean, well lit, extremely aesthetically pleasing, everyone who works there is so nice & welcoming and they offer a range of all heated classes. My first class was a HIIT Pilates class with the founder, Olivia, being the instructor. There are so many good things about her classes but I just love the way the organizes and structures the classes and mentally prepares you for each set of moves whether that be floor, core, cardio, etc. it's all just so good and the hour somehow flys by even though you're doing a really good workout in a 100 degree room. Unlike someone else said, I think they do a really good job of spacing people out in here while still being able to take a lot of people at once. I don't feel crammed or too close to the people around me and both classes I've done were like 95% full. Another one of my favorite things is when you're done with the class, you just get up and leave. No worrying about where to put your mat, putting your bands away, putting your towel in the hamper, etc. You just leave the room, the cleaning crew comes in and they have cold towels waiting for you which is SO nice. This place is just stunning & truly an all around incredible studio and vibe. Olivia is amazing & I am so glad she opened and created this space. I will definitely be a regular now and I'm so glad I have this spot in my neighborhood.

I've always appreciated yoga but never committed to a long term regular practice. After finding Shiva Yoga, I want to go all in. It's the best yoga studio I've experienced. I love the diversity of the community, (people of different ages, backgrounds, & ability levels). Everyone is welcome, wherever they are in their practice. I first came to Shiva this summer after my back went out & the experience has helped me regain my strength & flexibility. The instructors are knowledgeable & encouraging. Shiva also offers community events, massages, a dry sauna & opportunities to connect & recharge. I attended a sound bath last night, and it was excellent! I really appreciate the sense of community Garth & his team have created. After more than 25 years of occasionally dipping my toes into yoga, I feel like I've finally found a studio that makes me want to show up regularly, deepen my practice & make yoga part of my everyday life. I'm grateful to have found Shiva and couldn't recommend it more highly.

The Studio: You walk up the stairs and immediately feel like you are in an urban sanctuary above the city. The space is light, bright, and spacious, with warm tones, natural light, and a calm energy throughout. There are two yoga rooms, an infrared sauna room, changing rooms, and cubbies inside the practice space. The reception area includes complimentary tea, a water station, and a simple self check-in. Friendly staff are present if you need anything. The Class/Teacher (Shiva Flow at 12:30 p.m.): After a morning job, slipping into this midday class was an absolute treat! Michelle May personally welcomed me, made sure I had a tour, brought blocks and a strap to my mat, and introduced herself before we began. We started in Easy Pose, where she opened with philosophy on tapas, the internal fire we step into to burn away what no longer serves. She guided us to notice the breath, then the mind, simply observing. Three collective Oms to connect the room. And then we were off...halfway through Sun B, I realized there was no music, just Michelle's voice and the sound of the room breathing together. It was that powerful. This was a strong, continuous flow with options for Crow, Flying Crow, Flying Splits, and creative transitions, such as Tree to Extended Standing Split and Half Moon to Warrior 3 and back again. Michelle continually reminded us to tap into the fire, breathe, and let go. It was that "non-stop, can't stop, don't want to stop, ahhhh, feels so good" kind of yoga. When we finally came down to the mat, she offered hands on adjustments. In reclined Eagle, she anchored my shoulder and gently guided my crossed knees toward the floor (serious Divine release!). We closed the same way we began, seated, noticing the breath, noticing the mind, three collective Oms. This class was FIRE, but conscious fire. Practical Notes: Free parking lot across the street designated for Shiva Yoga Complimentary tea and water station Self check-in system Infrared sauna room Changing rooms and bathroom Cubbies inside the yoga room Friendly, welcoming staff After Effects: I left feeling calmer, clearer, lighter, and very curious about their Power Yoga class. If this was Shiva Flow, I can only imagine . Such an afternoon gift. I will be back!

From the moment we stepped into the space, you could feel the intention behind it. The studio itself is stunning -- grounding, expansive, and filled with an energy that immediately invites presence and depth. Being surrounded by his collection of gongs and instruments created an atmosphere that felt both sacred and inspiring. Lou is a true gong master. His knowledge, passion, and reverence for the instrument are undeniable. Watching him play and learning directly from him ignited something powerful within me -- a deep desire to connect more fully with the gong and explore its potential. The practice space is bright and open and is fully stocked with immaculate Manduka mats, blocks, straps, bolsters and blankets available for use during classes and of course there are paper towels and mat cleaner on hand for you when you're done. There are also lockers outside the practice space with locks available for free so you can feel secure leaving you shoes, phone and whatever else outside the room while you practice. Aside from their yoga classes I went to one of Hyperslow's other events for the first time recently, the Full Moon Ceremony they had at the beginning of March led by Asher. The Vibe: Presence Begins Before the Mat…read more Sometimes the yoga starts before you unroll your mat: Parking. An out-of-order payment app. Timing. ‍ Then came the first interaction. A smile & question: "First time?" Another line of students began to form, but the moment wasn't rushed. Directions were given. Questions were answered. Full attention stayed exactly where it was. Looking back, the teaching had already begun. That kind of presence is contagious. * Field Note: Whoever is standing in front of you...make them feel like they're the only one there. (I've got some practicing to do.) The Guide - North Ray Flow 2: Áine O'Regan We began in Supta Baddha Konasana, connecting breath before movement. Áine set the tone: See if you can keep your breath as steady throughout class as it is right now. If your mind wanders somewhere away from here...bring it back to yourself, back on the mat. From there, the class unfolded in such a gentle climb that an hour felt effortless. The cueing was so fluid that as we repeatedly moved from Star Pose into Goddess, I disappeared into the rhythm of Levo (Club Edit) by Recondite. (Completely immersed.) They've found the Goldilocks of hot yoga: The heat, the lighting, the pacing, the music, the movement. Everything feels just right. (If you're curious about hot yoga, this is an easy studio to recommend.) The Tribe: Presence in Practice During my short visit, I noticed people holding doors for one another, making eye contact, and smiling. After class, when I asked Áine about the music, she didn't simply tell me the song. She walked me through Spotify until we found the playlist. Space & Place: Modern bohemian Exposed brick. Skylights. Warm wood beams. Infrared heat. You'll leave drenched...somehow more energized. The Takeaway: Presence Is Contagious I came in open to whatever surfaced. Tonight...it was presence. There are lots of locations but this one seemed the nicest and it's my friends' favorite. There is underground parking onsite which is free when validated which they do here. The space is SUPER clean and all the staff was really welcoming and friendly. They gave me a little tour and showed me the ways around and what was offered which was so appreciated. The women's locker area and bathroom was super nice and spacious as were the showers. I brought my own mat but they do provide mats and towels for a small fee. We chose the 4:30 Power class which was intermediate. We ended up with a substitute teacher Raea and she was great! I will say, it was a bit warmer than I've experienced in a hot yoga class before which was a little overwhelming at first but I started to adjust within 10 minutes. Anytime I needed to break I was able to comfortably and without judgement. The whole space is really judgement free and feels like a safe space type community which I loved. Our class was an hour and as expected I was soaked afterwards but ended up feeling rejuvenated. They offer complementary cold eucalyptus towels and there's water and an area to cool down after which we took advantage of. Not to mention they have really cute merch to buy! All in all, I would definitely come back and am excited to have joined this community! If you're considering starting hot yoga or looking for a new place, start here, you won't regret it!

The Vibe: A Deep Exhale…read more The message begins outside with a giant reminder: BREATHE. Enough said, right? As soon as I walked in, MJ welcomed me & gave me a tour of the space. As we walked through the studio, we ran into our guide, Joe Kara. Meeting your yoga teacher before class is such a treat, and Joe was just as kind, welcoming, & grounded as MJ. The Guide: Joe Kara's Urban Flow 60 We began seated, grounding into the Earth and connecting with our ujjayi breath before moving through Surya Namaskar to gradually awaken the body. The class unfolded into a beautiful, steady vinyasa flow , one breath, one movement at a time. Joe's music was intentionally lyric-free: down-tempo electronic tracks. Songs like You Wish by Nightmares on Wax carried the practice forward, matching the rhythm of his calm, steady voice. As Joe moved quietly throughout the room, he read the energy of his students. His cues invited us to deepen through breath, alignment, & awareness. With permission, I received two assists during class. The first was in Hand-to-Big-Toe Pose, helping my body soften deeply into the fold. We played with rolling side-to-side in Parsva Dhanurasana (Side Bow Pose), which was new for me and had me feeling it in all sorts of places. Before I knew it, we were in savasana, where I received my second assist: A gentle grounding of my shoulders into the floor. It felt like I was melting into the Earth () We closed seated, observing the quality of our breath, the quality of our mind, & the quality of our spirit before Joe thanked us for sharing our energy, time, & presence with him on our beautiful Sunday morning. Ahhhh, yoga really is that sweet. The Tribe: Moving Together, Exploring Individually There was a nice collective rhythm in the room. We moved together breath by breath, yet Joe created plenty of opportunities to explore our own practice. Want to play with Crow to Headstand, handstands, or forearm stands? Explore. Prefer to stay with the back-bending sequence and his steady guidance? It's all good. That freedom to challenge yourself or honor exactly where you are is one of the things I love about yoga. The Space & Place: Industrial Calm & Simplicity Urban 728 is an unassuming little hidden treasure in Los Angeles. The exterior is modern and minimalist, with a giant BREATHE mural, a threshold between the outside world and the practice waiting inside. Inside, the space feels open, airy, and simple: Clean lines, natural light, polished concrete floors, warm wood details, and a fun retail area (I indulged ). The yoga room itself is spacious and beautiful, with dark wood floors, high ceilings, white walls, and plenty of room to move and breathe. Practical Notes - Parking: Free parking lot. Amenities: Private showers, restrooms, & plenty of amenities. Heat: Warm, but not hot. I came away with a light sweat (a shower is optional - I chose to simply change clothes). Good to Know: From MJ's thoughtful tour to Joe's welcoming presence and mindful assists, there was a genuine sense of care throughout the entire experience. The Sum-Up: A giant wall says BREATHE before you enter. Joe spends the next 60 minutes guiding you back to it. And by the end, you simply feel better.

Edit: most positive reviews seem to be about yoga, which I was not aware happened at this location…read more It's a gym with no workout rooms, primarily devoted to personal training, so there may be some mix up. ** Negative parts of this are virtually all for Jason (the owner). I hope in sharing it'll help other people avoid what I experienced. With the exception of Jason, the trainers I worked with here are excellent overall. Devin has so much light in him, and his energy really holds up the corners of this place. I hope he finds a working situation that better supports and nurtures all he has to offer. Iman was great as well, but because this place is patriarchal and has deference to masculine baked in, there were instances in which I saw her feel the need to defer to Jason, which was symptomatic of outdated leadership approaches and an unhealthy work environment. The effects of that misogyny showed through other women there as well, particularly younger women who were in admin or nutrition (and in male-presenting clients with more fem energy). Didn't see it in the seasoned fem trainers. Russell is fun and knowledgable, but I overheard him shit-talking clients on more than one occasion. Matt is further down meathead spectrum, so there was more obliviousness/negligence showing through, but knowledgable about his work. But Jason was negligent outright . His behavior resulted in injury I'm still dealing with ~7 months later, and he wasn't mature or professional enough to simply take responsibility for what he'd done. I went here because I saw the Vanity Fair video that talked about how they help people clean up injuries. I have a back injury from like ~10 years ago that I really wanted to correct, and a more recent shoulder injury, and was very relieved to learn Rise could help. In maybe 3 months of 3ish sessions per week, my back injury seemed to be healed! I was ecstatic. ...but then I ended up with Jason as my trainer 3 times in one week. He was consistently late, eating/doing other stuff that made him distracted, had a kinda negligent vibe. Probably not the way he behaves when working with Jennifer Aniston or whoever, and not behavior I imagine he'd tolerate in a trainer he hired. That Monday, he pushed too hard with his hands when he had me doing a side plank, and it messed up my back again. Wednesday, when I had him as a trainer again, I told him about this. Friday he had "forgotten," so I had to tell him again. But the damage was done. My back was fucked up. Everybody messes up. It's not great when your preventable mistake comes from not being attentive/good at your job. It's worse when that mistake physically injures a human being...especially when those effects are long-lasting. If Jason could've acknowledged what happened and apologized for it, okay. But he kept "forgetting" about it. Then he tried to tell me that I wouldn't get better if I wasn't doing the exercises I did there every day at home....though 3 days a week at their location had gotten my back healthy before, and I had explicitly asked multiple trainers if 3 days a week of training there was a good amount. All said yes. Jason was trying to cover his ass and sidestep responsibility. He later tried to refer me to a back expert or something, acting like the cause of the re-injury was a mystery. So yeah, don't go to Jason. There's narcissism in him, and he may cause you months-long physical pain because he isn't paying attention, and then play it like he has no idea what he did even as you repeatedly speak up about the damage he caused.

Owner (Jason) aggressively approached me in parking lot when he did not like where I parked my…read more Let me know he wanted his client to park in that space.
