Daily Special #3 Carne Asada Burrito & 3 Rolled Tacos
    Taura G.

This location is nestled in the Eastlake Village Shopping Center in Chula Vista, CA. It is in the middle section of the village, right when you walk over the koi pond bridge. They have Holiday decorations and lights all around the village shops and restaurants. I arrived snd there were 4 customers ahead of me. The cashier took orders at a great pace and I ordered: 1 Pollo Asada Bowl, 5 Rolled Tacos with Guacamole and cheese, and one #3 Daily special Carne Asada Burrito + 3 Rolled tacos with guacamile and cheese

I was hungry before a class. I was surprised at the overall low rating, but still decided to give it a try. I love the outside tables in the courtyard. Four top tables with umbrellas, clean and Disney land style music piped in. Definitely a plus for ambiance there. The ordering was as expected. I do like that they service breakfast all day. But I ordered a California burrito, because that's the best way for me to judge and initial outting. The California burrito was ok. I don't know that I'd order it again. I'd likely get a quesadilla. The carrots were very good!! Food was fresh, the place was clean, but I felt flavor was lacking. And I loved the tortilla!! I also ordered a horchata. Which sadly was lacking.

Love their new I option of $1.99 street tacos EVERY DAY! Been coming for a while, now. See previous.

Tacos, enchiladas and their homemade flan were delicious! The vibe here was wonderful, especially with the koi fish directly outside!

California burrito & 5 rolled tacos

The place has a good energy and good vibe but the food wasn't good. We got a California burrito and 5 rolled tacos with everything. The fries in the burrito were really soggy and greasy. The meat was well seasoned. The rolled tacos were previously deep fried, heated and served. So the temperature of them was mid and the cheese was still cold as if straight out of the package. I was only able to eat 2/5 because the beef inside them also tasted a bit cold. The rolled tacos didn't come with sour cream, so I paid $4 for 4oz when asked for a side of sour cream. The green salsa was good. The restaurant is nice, and the employees were very polite and friendly. But I don't think I would come back for the food.

Ordered a plain carne asasa burrito snd let them know about a allergy to tomatoes. One bite and it has everything inside of it I'm not sure if it is done on purpose? I return to exchange for a plain carne asada burrito and they obviously weren't pleased on making it again. It was empty more tortilla then meat.

Good food quality, fair prices for what you get and good service. I've been here a few times in the past year and I haven't had any disagreements. Arely has taken my orders the times I've been here and she's always welcoming. The dining room is always clean and the area behind the register seems to always be organized. Good menu options that includes daily specials and a kids menu. Menu prices as of May 2023.

Vegetarian items include beans made in lard! This is dangerous for people who are vegetarian. When I called they were unapologetic about it.

Great food and solid portions, a little pricey though. Still, I stop by often since it's nearby and convenient.

Just be more patient and mindful that they're doing the best they can Food 5/5 -mixed(surtido) and cheek(cachete) tacos, meat is TENDER. I honestly can't taste the difference between the two, I just knew I wanted to keep eating them(even after eating 3). Sturdy tortillas so the tacos weren't falling apart as I was eating, I also really liked that each table had two squeeze bottles of salsa, so convenient -orden/order, if you come here, you have to order this soup with the head meat. It's the essence that sums up the restaurant, it's a little peppery with the sweetness from the diced onions and meaty goodness. It comes with about 4 tortillas and there's a lot of meat in the soup to be made into more tacos Ambiance 5/5 -restaurant was full of people eating food happily(obviously the food was delicious) and there was a guy that sang for donations and vendors that came through selling trinkets, just a mixing pot of life and happy place to eat

I've had the pulpo tostada and taco multiple times and they're always amazing, super fresh and never overcooked. I usually get the macho sauce on the side so I can spice it up to my level lol. My family has also tried the tuna tostada, micheladas, chilaquiles, and even Dino nuggets for the kids, everything has been consistently great every time we go. The service is always on point, the ambiance is nice, and it's in a great central location. We usually stop by Wood Market afterward to grab a few things. Highly recommend! definitely a spot we'll keep coming back to. Also, shoutout to the Convoy location, it's just as good!

Everyone running the restaurant was super friendly and accommodating to special diet needs as well. I'm glad we tried this establishment. It was quite busy that day, but there was still plenty of parking, and they had booths to sit and enjoy the experience. Portions were large - we all had leftovers to take home. I would love to come back and try more of the menu!

These tacos were delicious, juicy, packed, and crafted so wonderfully. The people were very nice, and i loved that they had the salsas at the table with chili oil. I had never thought that chili oil would be good with tacos? But it works! The carne asada here is the star of the show. We had a al pastor one and it was ok but not better than the carne. This place was so good we came twice on our trip (we had wanted to try new restaurants every day but this place was so good we had to come again) - now we did go to Tacos el Gordo and all I'll say is if you love carne asada go to Chulas, but if you like a pork taco go to Tacos el Gordo! **One of my main issues with tacos is that the tortillas are thin/dry? I'm a handmade kind of tortilla person don't like the banderitas brand style of tortillas - now they said they didn't make these by hand but they're definitely not the prepackaged ones.

First, I ordered an adobada taco. The meat wasn't cooked properly on the trompo why ? :( then they threw it on the grill and ended up burning it. That completely defeats the point of even having a trompo if you're just going to burn the meat afterward. It had a bitter, burnt taste. Next, I got a carne asada taco, and it was completely overcooked and dry:(honestly, drier than the Mojave Desert. The tortilla was hard and didn't taste fresh at all. Nothing about the tacos tasted like the quality I remember. The customer service was just as disappointing. I stood in front of the carne asada guy for about 5 minutes before he even acknowledged me. What made that worse was that there were no other customers there t wasn't busy at all. The workers seemed more focused on talking and laughing with each other than paying attention to the food or the customers. I even think I saw what might've been the owner there, which makes this even more frustrating because this place used to be good. It feels like they're letting it go downhill. I'm giving this a one-star review, but I'm being honest when I say I actually want this place to get better. I'll give them one more chance in the future, but as of right now, this was a really bad experience.
