$1.99 carnitas and adobada tacos - my fav deal!! IG@WholeWellnessMamas and Youtube @ThisJALife

LOVE their $1.99 street tacos anytime not just Tuesdays! My fav is the carnitas, my kid loves their adobada. They all come with a good amount of meat, guac, and toppings. If you eat it there, they also give you some chips on the side. Their salsa bar also has fresh cucumbers which I love for a little extra veggies in addition to the radishes. There are spicy onions too, and they are SPICY!!!! Or maybe I got a weird bite but phewwwww I was panting! I like their mild chunky salsa too! Hubs likes the spicy stuff so he sometimes gets spicy shrimp burritos which he enjoys but they're too spicy for me.

The Mexican food here is alright. Nothing special and I've been disappointed 90% of the time I've eaten here. Whether it's my rolled tacos being soggy, pico packed on my tacos, flavorless meat, something missing, or a plate made incorrectly, it's happened to me here. Service is lacking, prices are average, and there is a small inside dining area with salsa bar. The lady who typically works the register/counter is unpleasant. She never smiles and always looks annoyed. Every time I've come here, she has taken my order. Pre salsa bar she would give attitude when asked for more salsa. Not a problem, I'm willing to pay. But when I order 4 plates, 4-5 small hot sauces containers aren't going to cut it. Problem solved, they now have a salsa bar where you're able to pour your own. I've never eaten here and always take my food to go. But since my orders have been missing items and I've been given the wrong items in the past, I check my order before leaving. God help me if they have to correct an issue. I've been given attitude for noticing and showing them my order is wrong/missing an item. The food is alright, nothing special, just bland and occasionally lacking flavor. With many other Mexican food places located close by, I'd say go somewhere else.

Carne Asada Burrito at some point there was more wrapper than meat/filling but it's a good burrito

Food 4.2 Service 4.6 Back in SD unfortunately for a funeral, but you have to eventually eat, so me and my BBF needed to grab something quick and Cotija's was down the street. We both ordered rolled tacos but I had them with chicken and a carne asada burrito to go. Food came out fast and fresh and the cashier even delivered our food to our table. We arrived 40 minutes before closing so their salsa selection was limited but the mild salsa is a winner. The rolled tacos was covered with lettuce and hid the amount of cheese and guacamole and after taking a few bits it could have used a little more and , the saving grace is their salsa. I did eat the carne asada back at my BBF's condo and it was tasty but could have used more meat. Overall I enjoyed the food.

Good price for a meal. I would have been satisfied with one taco.

Their beef tacos seemed kind of bland but the real deal is their $2 fish tacos. They're a decent size with flavor for the price.

Best Taco Tuesday spot in Bonita! They have very good tacos and traditional Mexican cooking. They are able to get your order to you quickly and it's made very fresh. What I like about this location is that the Taco Tuesday night is $1.99 per taco and they give you three or four options of what type of protein you want. The staff is nice and they do a good job preparing your food. Rice and beans is always delicious here and they also have very good tortilla chips. I love that they have bottled beers just in case you want to take your taco Tuesday up a notch The fresh salsa bar is also a plus. You will be happy to sit in their comfortable booth seating. It can get packed so you may need to wait a few minutes for a seat.

This Cotijas is conveniently located in a shopping center, they don't have a drive through but the service is always fast. Their menu is big, there's lots of choices. I like that they have seafood also. Their fish tacos are really good. I really enjoy the many salsas they provide and condiments in their salsa bar which is self serve. I recommend trying this Cotijas in Bonita.

My wife and I always come here for taco Tuesday but this night MARIELA who is the cashier that night, never greeted us with a smile, and I felt unwelcome by her presence, and when I asked for an extra bag of limes, she was hesitant and annoyed that I even asked for that, but we always go there because the food is fantastic. We might find another place to go to.

Yea. Don't go to this Bonita location. Carne asada and pollo asada do not sound the same. The bad reviews were accurate.

I've been reluctant to give this location a try considering all the recent bad reviews. Tonight i said to myself, why not. First impression walking in was awkward. Three employees, two cooks, one with neck/face tats. Thought I was walking into county jail for a moment. The lady in front took my order. Simple, carne asada chips. Waiting for my food, listening to their Mexican music and them speaking Spanish.... No big deal. Got my food, went back home, opened it up and dammit. They gave me pollo asada! Carne asada and pollo asada don't fucking sound the same. Pretty irritating when you spend almost $20 and got chicken instead of the beef you ordered. There's been plenty of recent bad reviews. I understand why now. Take a few extra minutes and go somewhere else. This place should close down if they can't get a simple order correct.

Fries are hit & miss- right now mine are soggy & half raw. It wasn't even busy tonight & the cashier seemed rushed. I do enjoy the cooks singing just wish my meal was made properly first I don't know. Priorities seem off today. Makes me miss Hermanos on Palomar- PERFECT EVERY TIME

So far, Cotijas Taco shop in Bonita has been my favorite place for carne asada fries. The fries were fried perfectly crispy and not burnt and mushy, the meat was tasty with all the fixings. Delicious and props to the cook. Salsa bar had a good selection of salsas. If you're looking for carrots, it will cost. Although not a very large place, there's was good amount of tables and chairs. Place was busy at the time and was clean.

The WORST employee hands down goes to "Mariela".

Literally the WORST customer service I've ever had. The cashier didn't say a single word to us. Just stared at us until we began to order and didn't say anything the entire time. They don't wear name-tags (which they probably should) but the receipt says "Mariela". Once we sat down I heard her tell the cook through the little window "no quiero estar aquí porque nací pobre chingado!" Then it was very clear why we got the service we did. Whoever is managing this place really needs to have a conversation with this señora. She needs to either change her attitude or find another job.

Wow I haven't been here in a long time and I was in the mood for rolled tacos. But seeing the pictures before entering the place the crunchy tacos which are my favorite I had to get them instead. Omg I don't write a review and these there tacos are so stuffed with beef that I ordered! I'm just very impressed and so nicely prepared and so delicious!!! I am so impressed how heavy how much meat they put in the taco. I will definitely come back here again for them and try more variety of foods as well!!

The real problem was what happened afterward. Five out of the nine people in our party became seriously ill after eating here. My sister and three of the kids experienced severe diarrhea, and I ended up in the ER with severe abdominal pain and bloody diarrhea. I was diagnosed with colitis/inflammation of the colon consistent with foodborne illness. Four days later, I'm still dealing with cramping and difficulty tolerating food. This experience will likely end up costing me over $1,000 in medical expenses between the ER visit, testing, and treatment. This was one of the worst experiences I've ever had after eating at a restaurant. I normally would not leave a review like this, but I feel other customers should be aware and the restaurant should investigate its food handling practices.

So I don't go as often as I used to as the location on Birch is quite a drive. But Friday the 20th my wife and I decided to make the drive because we had a rare day off together and I was craving. We were seated quickly and the staff was friendly. GG was our server and I asked her about the shrimp burrito in ranchero sauce because I didn't see it on the menu to which I was given the very sad news that they no longer served it. I'm a creature of habit, and I've been coming to this chain since my early 20s and I always get that burrito with rice and beans. Was very disappointed to find it's no longer a menu item, it was literally what made me make the drive from lakeside. Once getting that news I had to actually look at the menu and find something else. I ordered tha carne asada plate and my wife had the Green enchiladas. I also ordered the ceviche tostada. I was a little worried the carne asada might be thin and dry but it was actually a nice thickness and super tender. I had a bite of the enchiladas too, also really good. Another new thing I noticed is that now chips and salsa are not complimentary, sad. But unfortunately not something new to the restaurant scene as of late.
