An awesome chained French restaurant that I'm quite fond of. We were seeing the sights in Salisbury when it got wet and cold. We wanted soup and something light for the mid-afternoon meal so we ordered the lunch special: squash / ginger soup and the chicken leg (forgot the name). The meal was exquisite and it really hit the spot.

Great menu and a range of specials and weekday lunch deals. Service is efficient and friendly. Food arrived quickly, was piping hot, well cooked and delicious. Reasonably priced and a brasserie ambience like others in the chain. The salmon and smoked haddock fishcake is fabulous- served with spinach, a soft-boiled egg and garlic butter. Save room for the Creme caramel, it's the best I've ever eaten!

Fresh, reasonable food, and a great location to get off you're feet. Good food and service. Can't ask for more.

Quite the swanky little place in Swindon! The atmosphere of the restuarant is lovely and everything…read moreis candlelit. There is live music, excellent food, and great staff. Today I had their Farm Chicken that came stuffed with creamed leeks, a top creamed potatoes and with sides of wild mushrooms. It was quite tasty overall. The jus that came with it could have been a bit more flavorful and I wish the chicken had not been cooked with the skin on it. Overall it was a great meal and their wine list was not bad either. PROS: Music, great staff, wonderful atmostphere, good food. CONS: Music was too loud for the small place and was hard to hear others.

Just an FYI... they are closed on Monday nights. We made that mistake once. We have been twice…read morenow and it can still easily be mistaken for a nightclub rather than a restaurant. Although I think it is trying to be a bit of both. On both nights, the ambiance was different... one night the music was quite loud and there was a large crowd of young guys that were a bit rowdy, putting Mr. Snarky off of the place, and on the other night it was quiet and intimate. The menu actually seems like a combination of two menus, the first is a more upmarket menu that you would find in a gastro pub while the other menu include pub classics and the presentation between the dishes on each section of the menu further confirms that they are almost two different menus. On the first visit, I had the steak and Mr. Snarky had the Lamb Shank. The steak was a bit fatty, but the triple cooked chips... mmmm although watch out, they retain a lot of heat. Mr. Snarky must have enjoyed his Lamb Shank a lot as I didn't even get a bite! It was gone in the blink of an eye. On the second visit, I had the Pie of the Day with veg and Mr. Snarky had the Chicken and Chorizo Pasta with a Cajun Tomato Sauce. The Pie of the Day was Chicken and Leek and it actually comes with Dauphinoise Potatoes, but when I think of Pie, I think of Mash. So I asked to substitute the Dauphinoise Potatoes with Mashed Potatoes. And actually the menu doesn't specify if it comes with any potatoes, just seasonal veg. The pie was delicious, although there isn't much sauce, so if you decide to go for the mash with your pie, you may want to see about some gravy. The veg was nice, but perhaps someone got a bit carried away with the spices as I couldn't really taste much of the veg. Mr. Snarky's pasta was nice, but I didn't taste any Cajun spices in the sauce. We suspect that the Chorizo may have overpowered any attempt at seasoning. However, the star of the night (well, my night) was the Bread and Butter Pudding made with croissants and white chocolate. It was lovely! The top was a bit crunchy and buttery while the rest of the pudding was gooey and custardy. It really is a very good dessert. Don't ask me what Mr. Snarky had because after the first bite of my dessert, the rest of the night was a bit of a blur ;). Anyway, they do have some really good food, but sometimes the ambiance is a bit off.

We were seated in the bar area and I opted for what I thought was a glass of champagne but it turned out to be a champagne cocktail 'the classic'. Wasn't to my taste! But my mistake. They have no draft beers, but some bottled and a good selection of bottled ciders. We were then seated at a big round table - too big in my opinion cos I felt I needed to shout to everyone on it! The menu looked amazing. As French as you could possibly get so I was in heaven. The waitress then came over and told us half of it they didn't have! Bit naughty not to mention it on the website cos there was a lot missing. I chose the steak tartare to start, It was delicious! Fillet steak minced with pickles and mustard through it, it was quite fiery actually, I think there was quite a bit of Tabasco in it too but it really enhanced the dish. Wasn't sure about the raw egg yolk served on top but I was pleasantly surprised. I opted for a bottle of the Pinot noir which was nice and subtle, the more expensive of the wines at 30ish quid. But that was at the top of the price range on the wine list so quite reasonable really for all the wines ( it helped I wasn't paying too! ). For the main I went for the sirloin steak, served with fries and the best pepper sauce I have EVER tasted. Yes The Yeoman - it beat yours! (can't believe I just said that). I asked for it to be cooked rare but it was slightly overdone. Usually I would have sent it back but it was so tasty I didn't actually need to. Everyone else was thoroughly enjoying theirs too. For pudding I shared a cheese board and again was transported through those pearly white gates. The cheese's where magnific! Melt in your mouth blue, Brie to die for, a lovely smoked one which I thought I wouldn't like. Yum. Yum. YUM! My friends chose the baked Alaska which was flambé'd at the table, it looked amazeballs. We all left stuffed and giddy. It was a real treat, I highly recommend for a extremely pleasant evening out. Thankyou Jane and Keith!

Blue lights lend a hazy ambience and the way the tables are organised ( in long lines two abreast but well spaced) makes intimate dining possible without losing the buzz of the place. The food is good Bistro fare; vegetables are always beautifully and often unusually cooked and there's a great cocktail bar for a ore-dinner glass of bubbly. We always eat here rather than at the adjacent Queens Hotel restaurant, when staying overnight.

The waitstaff were quite accommodating and seated us at the only table that had an outlet for charging, per my request. It's one of those fancy open style kitchen places where you can see the chefs shouting at each other and dinging the little bell for service. My raspberry tonic mocktail was quite good, but the zest mocktail was much more refreshing. The Malabar fish curry was pretty good, a Thai red curry style of sauce with a cod piece in it. It tasted fresh, so so far I was happy. But the menu says prawns as well, as in plural, more than one. But there was only one prawn in my bowl. Should I have made a complaint about the semantic scam? Maybe, but they always make it seem like you're the idiot, is my experience. I liked their take on a fish curry, it comes with white rice and shaved crunchy coconut flakes. The dessert menu had nuts in every single dessert, which is not good if you rely on an epi-pen for such ingredients. I was offered the pleasure to have the cheese platter for the cost of a weekly grocery bill - Eeh, no thanks. The waitress agreed the dessert menu is crap and kindly offered a complimentary scoop of ice cream.
