The owner, Tim, was very responsive on Yelp & even quoted me over the phone (based on pictures I sent to him). He gave me advice on places to pick up & match the stain color I needed & even took calls after hours just to help. Tim surveyed the job a few days prior to repairing my fence to make sure that they had everything that they needed on the scheduled repair date. Tim & Mac called ahead each morning & always showed up on time. They worked together & were a joy to have in my backyard. They even worked around my two dogs (who are not always the friendliest). Cota Ventures claims to do "beautiful" work, but I can't say if he can or not, because I could never get him to write out a contract and get the job done. After viewing a picture I provided, he sent a quote of $6,000 flat rate, but he said the block walls in the picture was old school, and he could do something much better. Once he came out and viewed the property, although measurements were the same, the quote was $16,000, but he didn't bring any pictures of the type of the block wall he was going to do that was so much better and more modern than the picture I had. I was still excited, because I had finally found someone that could do (or claimed he could do), both the brick wall and the wrought iron. In addition to this, he seemed so nice and clearly felt he does beautiful work, superior to others. He said he would send some pictures later, since he failed to bring them that day. After never receiving anything, I sent him more pictures of a wall I saw, and he gave a new quote of $20,000, and went on and on about how beautiful his work is, and again said he would send some pictures, because he could still do something nicer than what I had sent in this particular picture. After waiting a couple of weeks and not receiving anything, I contacted him again, and he said his girlfriend had deleted all his pictures in his phone, but he was going to draw up something. After receiving nothing, again, I contacted him, and he asked to come out to the property again. He again arrived without pictures or drawings. I prepared a detailed drawing for him showing him exactly what I wanted and he again went on about how beautiful his work is, and he thanked me for the opportunity to do the job. He told me the next step was for me to check with neighbors to see if they would split the costs with me, and he said this was the normal slow process. Once I got hold of him and told him the side neighbor would not, but the neighbor behind me would, he asked to come out again. When he arrived, he now said his wife questioned the quote, and he could still do the job, but it would now be $30,000, ($10,000 more). I was strung along for about 3 months of listening to excuses, to him downing the work of others and glorifying his "beautiful" work, but never getting anything done... A COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME. read more
