This review is long overdue. I've trusted Steve and his crew with every home project and renovation we've had since we moved into our home a year ago. He is honestly the best. He's not only knowledgeable, but he's a genuinely good person. I would even consider him a friend at this point. The work they do is phenomenal, and I'm a bit of a perfectionist so that is saying a lot. The prices are always fair and he will work with budgets. The work gets done quickly and scheduling is not a problem. So far I've had Steve renovate a guest bathroom, install a door, remove popcorn ceilings, remove walls, remove cabinets, increase closet size, smooth walls, paint, do electrical work and install tile. There's probably more I'm forgetting... He was great about all my requests (that may be a bit on the eclectic and nit picky side). He's even looked at things he doesn't do and helped me to avoid wasting money. For example, I thought I might have a mold problem on a window and he was able to tell me it was dry rot, not mold. I had a pinhole water pipe leak that cause my first floor ceiling to bulge. The plumber fixed it but needed to cut the ceiling drywall. I called around and Steve's was the most responsive and most fair price for the ceiling drywall repair and repaint. I was referred to Steve by another contractor and after reading the reviews I believed he was the right guy to call. Well I guess I'll never know. I called on Thursday 1/21 with no answer and a recording saying the mail box is full. The next day he did call and apologized. He seemed sincere and very personable. He said he would be able to come out for an estimate on Wednesday 1/27 as he would be in the area anyway then asked me to text him my name address and phone. So after I did he texted back ''got it, thank you''. Well Wednesday came and went with no call and no show. On Friday 1/29 I texted again with no reply . I feel if he was too busy or didn't want to come he should have just said so in the first place. By the reviews I see he must do a good job but his business practices are questionable. Where is the 10 star?! Where do I begin? Steve's Drywall and Ceilings is hands down the best experience of customer service, professionalism, trust, cost, ethics, and all of the above. Please believe me when I tell you that it was not by coincidence that I called Steve for an estimate on drywall repair and paint due to water damage- it is what was meant to be; I was a hours away from hiring another company. The first thing that intrigued me was the fact that Steve actually answered his phone- most companies I had called either didn't answer or didn't return calls in adequate time. Steve was polite, patient, and answered all my questions. He came out that very same evening and provided me the best estimate I had received out of four others. We set a date to begin the project and Steve and his crew arrived promptly and immediately began to work. Steve explained the work that was going to take place day to day and provided me guidance on the project- since I was going to end up with a "new" kitchen, Steve recommended I remove the outdated ceiling light and install new can style lights. It made such a huge difference an I absolutely love it! Steve went above and beyond just drywall and paint. He made sure my loose electrical outlets were updated too! None of these things had even come to my mind. He didn't nickel and dime me at all- he genuinely cared that I would be happy with the work. Steve and his guys treated my home with great care and respect. The guys were very nice. Steve didn't ask for any money up front and I was shocked and relieved. Other companies were asking for half up front and wanted me to sign papers that had language referring to liens on my property and such. We thought our request would be too small to make it worthwhile for any service provider to take but Steve, the owner himself performed the job. He was prompt in providing us a quote which was very reasonable and fair, especially considering the high quality, honest work and services he provided. We asked for quotes from other companies before deciding to go with Steve, the other companies were way over priced and some didn't want to paint or would charge extra for that! Steve patched, mud, textured and paint our drywall to a perfect finish - all in the same day. We can't even tell there was a cut out before and the finished work is better than we had hoped. My husband and I recently purchased a house in Upland that was in need of some repairs and major updating. We were living 400 miles away in Northern California, but able to work with him to get the ball rolling so we could get moved down and a moved in. I called Steve and sent him a few pictures of our work. He started a couple days later and finished on time. I have to say, Steve's crew was clean, professional, friendly and very respectful of our home. Our biggest fear was the mess that would be made removing and then sanding. The first thing thing they did after going over the work and introducing themselves was to start tarping and taping everything off including our carpet and stairs. The work is excellent, I can't even see the patches and I know where they are. Even the paint matches perfectly.
