Man, oh man. You want an East Belfast dive bar? This is the place. The Cosy is named after one of the WWI battles fought by the men of the Ulster Brigade, and this place won't let you forget it. There's a huge WWI mural across the street just to remind you.
This was one of those "I dare you to go in there" bars and we finally got around to doing it.
Was expecting a lot worse. It is very much a locals bar and strangers aren't frequent. As long as you're the right kind of stranger, the locals won't mind you. We had a cider, which was cheaper than normal and the bar staff was friendly.
This is one of the places where the Orange marching bands meet up before taking to the streets or after having a parade. So if that's not you're kind of scene, avoid the place. read more
