Update my review of Cohen's Fashion Optical experience: They…read moreare awesome! Always liked the staff. But today I met the owner. My initial review of this place was not satisfactory. And he told me they take these reviews seriously and wanted to make amends. I wasn't really interested in them doing anything else, but he genuinely prefers a satisfied customer. He personally helped me at the counter and I left with a second pair of readers to be picked up later. Yes, I'm satisfied because they cared. So because of that I am saying I prefer to keep coming here for my prescription lenses and frames than any other place.

Cohen's Fashion Optical is a well-organized store with a good selection of glasses. Prices do seem…read morea bit higher than some other places, but the selection is solid. The staff up front were helpful, honest, and friendly. My wife saw Dr. Goodman, who was great -- very nice, clear, patient, and honest. It was a really good visit with her. The main downside was the wait time. I was told it was due to the appointment before us running long, but it ended up being about an hour and fifteen minutes before she was seen for her exam. Overall, still a good experience and solid service, just plan extra time in case things run behind.

They're also really good at being your second set of eyes as you try on new styles (because chances are you can't see what you look like if you're trying on new glasses). The staff is lovely and listen to what you ask for. If I say "I'm just here for a free pair, something green" that's what I get with no forced sales or sneaky upgrade pairs thrown in. If I say "I'd like to see something a little nicer, in the $X range" then that's what they show me. From the moment I call to make an appointment, to my eye exam to selecting the glasses then picking them up a week later, the process is seamless.

Glasses grabbed out of my hand told to give receptionist my name and they will call when done. Basically dismissed by the employee. I asked if they needed to measure where glasses sit for best results was told "no they are just glasses and there is NO REFUND". So no money back for not getting the glasses prescribed by their Doctor Aka progressive lenses. My insurance company has been falsely billed, I have been falsely billed because this business has incompetent employees. Stay away, their customer service is nonexistent and they make you feel inconsequential and have zero customer service skills.

I did go back to have them tightened a little and he greeted me with a smile.Not only that he said if you need me to adjust them again feel free to come in anytime....Again the only neighborhood optical that knew excatly what he was doing on top of being the nicest most accommodating person .. The salesperson knew the correct amount of financial benefit because we discussed it, prior to looking at frames. In addition, I'd purchased glasses just prior to the end of 2023. When I went to pick up the new glasses and was told there was a balance due of $78.00, I did not take them. She said the optometrist needed to be consulted and I'd hear back. The optometrist called me a few days later and began to argue, saying the former pair of glasses (2023) were the wrong price. He finished by saying he would throw the new glasses in the garbage. I was quoted a price and asked to pay $78.00 more, which I would not do. For that reason, their behavior was nasty and unprofessional.

She had brought her dog to the store and was holding it while she helped other customers who clearly were undecided about what they wanted and were playing with her dog. I felt completely ignored as I stood there waiting and she didn't even acknowledge me that she would be helping me next. When the glasses were ready almost 2 weeks later, I had to wait again to pick them up even though there were no other customers in the store. The same woman was more interested in her texting than to help me.

She is thorough in her evaluation of eyeglass prescriptions, and her recommendations are spot on. Dr Schiffman also treated my parents over many years and they also have great respect for her. Dr Shiffman made note of the start of a cataract in 2014, which I kept watch of over the past two years. I am now getting it corrected. It was Dr Schiffman's discovery of the cataract that alerted me of the issue As my sight deteriorated, I knew what the issue was thanks to her diagnosis. I ordered a pair of prescription sunglasses from them back in the beginning of August. I had no problem getting a person to talk to me on the phone about ordering my glasses. I spent $400 on these glasses. I was told they would take a week to ship, it took a month, and only then did it ship because I called to remind them. Upon recieving the glasses, I realized the lenses are so lightly tinted, they can barely be considered sunglasses. I called to see if there was anything they could do about that, perhaps replace the lenses. It took a few emails and phone calls to reach someone. I was told they couldn't replace them since prescriptions are custom. I informed them that their return policy states nothing about not being able to return custom jobs, in fact, it states that you CAN return contact lenses, which are by their very nature, custom. The person told me they would check with the optometrist to see if it could be done, and I would get a call back shortly. That was approximately 40 days ago. I have since called and left numerous voicemails and emails, explaining that someone was supposed to be checking and getting back to me about replacing the lenses, I love the glasses, but the lenses are not up to sunglass lense standards, I would just like a yes or no whether this can be done. I got an email back a few weeks ago giving me a return authorization number, not addressing my question. You may wonder why I don't simply just return the glasses and shop somewhere else. Well, because of the customer service at this place, I'm honestly afraid to send these glasses back, for fear that I will not only lose the glasses, but then they may not give me my refund, and I wont be able to get in touch with anyone at this business to check on the status. They have a 14 day return policy, but because it was so difficult to get any response from them at all, the required return authorization number was not given to me until welllllll after the 14 days have past. I'm afraid they will deny my return, and I"ll be out the glasses AND the $400, and not be able to speak to a live person to resolve the matter. I have since filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, which has not received any type of response from this business. The glasses at this company are for a great price, but if you have any type of issue whatsoever, don't expect to get it resolved.
