The Costco in Traverse City is quite lovely. It is not super overcrowded like many others are and everyone is so friendly and helpful. Our shopping experience went very smoothly. It was easy to find items - the store layout made it easy to navigate - and the checkout process was quick. They had samples throughout the store, which were fun to try and even helped us purchase some items. I like that they also sell liquor at the Costco which truly made it a one-stop shop. The prices on the liquor and food items are also unbeatable. I highly recommend that if you're flying into TVC, you take a pit stop at Costco so you have all the food and drinks you need for your stay. The Costco is located right next to the airport, making the whole experience super convenient. We were even hungry after the flight so we ate at the Costco food court after shopping. read more

I have been to a lot of Costco's this one is hit or miss. I have been here several times and the service is not great. We went over the weekend and we scanned our card to get in (like you have to do now getting in to every Costco). Scanning our card to get in was no big deal, but the guy watching the scanners was rude and stopped my boyfriend (who was walking behind my mom and myself) and questioned him about his entry and if he had scanned a card to get in when he was literally in our group of three walking in and we had already scanned our card. The selection of items is pretty good. I great place to get chicken at a good cost. The checkout clerks are hit or miss on whether they are friendly. We come here because it is the only Costco in the area. But, there are better Costco locations. read more

Amazing selection throughout with great choices in groceries, clothing, deli, fresh fruits and veggies with plenty of organic selections...really incredible not to mention prices and sale prices unmatched in the area. Best to shop weekdays and evenings of you want to avoid crowds, or early morning. Samples during late morning and afternoon allow tasting before buying with friendly knowledgable sample staff. I just ordered 2 pairs of glasses this week and wanted to let the people in the Optical department know that Becky did an exceptional job helping me out. I noticed prior to helping me, I was 3rd in line that she gave each customer her undivided attention and when it got to me she did the same. She explained my insurance, told me which frames worked better with my prescription despite the line of customers growing and was meticulou in measuring for the transition lens. The more I shop here, the less impressed I am. I moved all prescriptions here and every single time there is an issue that causes a wait in the line twice. Also, I bought quite a few of the same houseware item expecting the sale price for all, but only received on the first five. When I called I was told there was a limit and nothing could be done. The limit is to prevent someone from buying in bulk (at a warehouse that specializes in bulk?) Should have bought 5 at a time. Buyer Beware! read more

My husband and I went to Traverse City, MI Costco last week. We stopped in the Optical Department and found out they had an opening in 10 minutes. I had the best eye exam that I can remember. Things were explained very well. I knew I needed glasses for a while but have been putting it off. I was told my prescription may take a few days to get used to because the prescription was so different than my last pair of glasses. I understood completely as I've worn glasses since I was five years old - not my first rodeo. With prescription in hand, I headed out to look for new frames. I knew I had to be careful because I was getting another pair of progressive lens so needed to be sure there was the room. The assistant in the optical department so me looking and walked over and handed me a pair of frames and said, I think this pair is right for you. I put them on and, yes, indeed, they looked flattering. I ordered the package for the frames, progressive bifocals with transition lens. I knew with my color eyes, I needed the gray, but had the choice of grey, green or brown. The lens also had the UV protection and anti-glare. I was told they would be ready in 10 days. Surprise Surprise. The cost of exam, frames and the works came to $260! I don't remember EVER having such a great price. A week to the day later, I got a message that my glasses were ready. We headed in and I put them on, tilted my head up and down to see the progression and could immediately see perfectly! I believe the reason why the bifocals were perfect was because they used a computer to measure my eyes. I literally walked into these glasses with no problem. They are fantastic for my distance, computer work, and reading. Kudos to the Doc and the Optical Team! I can't say enough about these glasses! Thank you! read more

Of course I love Costco prices. It is when you are leaving things go down hill. When leaving the person was training a person, she actually told the trainee about how he needed to check the cart because the customer might have been under charged. Made me feel like a thief. What a rude employee. The best part was as I was getting my cart examined another customer showed his receipt without them checking his cart. Talk about profiling. read more

Soooo.... Johnny at the Crab station was amazing. He helped us with all of our seafood questions and about the local nightlife. Lois, was amazing and helped us decide on the very difficult decision of what vodka to get. The Portside five piece shellback fire chat by polywood was a great resting point whilst we decided what else we needed in the technology center. Although we were disappointed to find out they were out of stock of AirPods we did NOT leave disappointed! 10/10 would recommend the samples. read more

As someone with Lupus, I'm playing it safe and only entering stores that have working masking rules. My family was excited when we learned that Traverse City would have a Costco. I'd heard such wonderful things about it from friends in other states. We are so glad we have one now. This store has been my first Costco experience and I love it. I love all the organic produce they offer. Our family tries to purchase organic as much as possible. They have a great selection of foods and merchandise. The optical section is great. The staff there is super friendly and attentive, always helpful. The eye doctor in the eye clinic is really good and listens to you. The glasses prices are amazing. My recent pair of glasses cost me $1000 out of pocket (frames and lenses) at an eyewear shop in another eye clinic in town and they fell apart not long after I started wearing them. The glasses I purchased at Costco are sturdy and cost a tiny fraction of what other places cost. I highly recommend Costco. read more

Time has at last arrived I need to purchase hearing aids. After much research and a recommendation from my doctor I headed for Costco Hearing Center. I was not a member of Costco and had never been in one. The experience was beyond my expectations. I called and received an appointment about two weeks out. My expectations were to get a hearing exam equivalent to that that I had received at the local hospital hearing center. Costco went way beyond. The hearing instrument specialist (David) spent a lot of time interviewing me to get my take on what I felt I was not hearing. He then completed a more thorough series of tests (including the SIN tests) and produced not only a report and graph but took the time to explain it to me. All at no charge. David then recommended a couple of products one of which was the Kirkland Signature 8.0 hearing aids. He then outfitted me with a pair and sent me into the warehouse to try them..... Amazing! I heard conversations and sounds that I would never have heard without them. What was better was the connection to my iPhone for calls and streaming. Impressive. I was sold on them. The bad news was they do not stock them so I have to return in a week to pick them up, have them fitted and do a real ear test. I find it encouraging that Costco Hearing Centers follow best practices. The process was painless, affordable and exceeded my expectations. This is the third time I have experienced terrible attitude by store checkout employees at this particular location. I realize it's busy and crowded but, you are being paid well, I only had 4 items, I was pleasant and polite. The terrible attitude I recieved by the woman who loaded my cart was unacceptable! If she does not like her job, tough! There are 1000 people who would take her job in a second. Maybe she should seek employment where she cannot interact with society? We shopped at the Traverse City Costco store this morning (right in the middle of the Corona virus crisis) and I was very impressed with the efficiency of their operation. There was a man spraying and wiping down each shopping cart as we entered. The store as very clean (as usual) and the people were very friendly (also as usual.) They had all the checkout lines open and had someone directing people to the appropriate line to keep everyone as separated as possible. The checkout process was even quicker and more efficient than usual. While shopping has never been my favorite thing, this store makes it as painless and enjoyable as possible. read more

Let me start by saying we love Costco! We understand it's a great place to work, they treat their employees very well, and our entire family enjoys shopping here every time, UNTIL TODAY! I've never been so uncomfortable in my life walking around the Traverse City store w a mask on that I removed within minutes. Could not relax, wife had to sit in the car, and our bi- monthly Costco shopping experience felt like a communist bread line. Waiting in lines half way down the aisle, everyone had scowls on their faces. I always comment to friends and family how great the atmosphere is and employees and patrons are always smiling! The WHO weeks ago claimed masks were irrelevant, now they're mandatory. WTH is going on? Today's events not Costco fault. Our Michigan governor has lost all concepts or common sense! My next visit which I'm contemplating not visiting until this insanity subsides, you better have a few police cars on site.
