I've been there many times over the last ten years. It matters a lot who you get to help you. There is a tall, blonde woman who works there. I brought in a damaged screen. She put her fingers on the frame and told me the size I needed, accurate to a 32nd of an inch! I'm still telling people about that one. But there's also an old man with a ridiculous mustache. I had the misfortune of having him "help" me recently. I'd avoid that one. read more

This is a great little neighborhood hardware store. They have a lot of little goodies here... I needed a snow shovel and some yard waste bags, and they had my back. The prices a little higher than you'd get from Lowes/HD, but it's nice to have this place nearby for those smaller items. The staff is friendly and helpful. Overall nice little spot. read more

I went to buy some things today at DeWeese Hardware. I bought some large bags of mulch and asked at the check out for some help putting them in my car because of health problems. I have degenerative arthritis of my shoulders and back as well as heart disease and I am an old man. An employe came out and put the bags on the curb. When I asked his help loading them he waved me off and basically said go to hell and walked back into the store. I went into the store and asked the cashier for the manager. She informed me the rude employe was the manager. Looks like I will not be going back there. There are plenty of other options in Traverse City. read more

SHOPPING LOCAL. Project was to replace a heating element on an electric water heater located on Drummond Island. Took pic and model of heater to DeWeese. An employee directed me to the part and I purchased it and other items with cash. Finally able to get to the Island-wrong part. Tried to return or exchange it. Manager said policy there was a 30 day and it had been 60. I asked for store credit at least-no deal. I gave them the part and receipt and said "keep it and I will not be back" There was no offer to make it right. I'll shop another Local Hardware.... read more

My girlfriend lives in TC, so I needed to find a solid locally owned hardware store. I must say that these guys are pretty darn good. On my last visit, needed a roller for a sliding door. They didn't have it, but they also own a screen & door business next door. It was closed, but an employee went over and opened it up and got my part! Now that's service! read more
