I was surprised that this Costco which is usually packed with customers, was somewhat empty. It made for quick shopping and a few samplings. I am still looking for the dragon fruit and açaí juice they carried at one time. I am fairly sure it has been discontinued. I got tangerine juice instead. It would be good if they expanded their juice selection. They have their own parking lot and Wi-Fi in the warehouse. read more

I reluctantly became a member here only because the Sam's Club around the corner unfortunately closed several years ago. If another Sam's Club opened anywhere nearby I would cancel this membership and re-join Sam's Club in a heartbeat. That said, Costco is still better than nothing, and has the edge over Sam's in at least two ways: better gasoline prices and a wider variety of better quality free samples. The employees at the entrance and exit are also very friendly and good at what they do, keeping the lines moving along, and the cashiers are also very efficient. I really appreciate the additional personnel who pre-scan items while I'm waiting in line so that I can then just breeze through the cashier part of the transaction. They also accept Apple Pay (as long as it's tied to a Visa card) which makes the process even more efficient! Now for the not-so-good, and the number one reason why I feel so adamantly that I would ditch Costco for Sam's if it ever became feasible: Costco absolutely cannot be trusted to be stocked with your weekly grocery staples. One week the big-@ss bag of frozen peas will be available; the next week it won't. One week the frozen broccoli will be available; the next week it won't. Unlike Sam's, Costco does not provide any helpful signage identifying where things are; they do this deliberately so they can shuffle things around on a frequent and regular basis in the hope that you will make additional impulse purchases while on an unnecessary but deliberately provoked wild goose chase for the items actually on your shopping list. As for the crowds about which many reviewers complain - there are better and worse times to go to Costco. I've found what I believe are better times (but am I going to give away my secrets? Not on your life, hee hee!!!) So, balancing the good against the bad, I rate Costco a solid "C" = aka 3 stars. read more

Just used for the first time today the Costco pharmacy pick up locker system, and being that it was my first time and one of the first times for the pharmacist he actually came out to help me. A tip of the hat to Gary, who was very helpful. The process is super easy to use and saved a lot of time, especially on those days when the pharmacy lines are long. One thing to note if you pay for prescriptions have them check the member price versus insurance. I also picked up another prescription refill. It was actually $5 more than I had paid for it three months ago. I asked why and they re-ran it without insurance. I ended up saving $10. read more

Of the 4 people at the eye counter I've seen only 1 was patient and did a great job the other 3 are terrible so bad I will go out of my way to only go when the one gentleman is there. The other 3 act like they don't care about you, rushing to get you in and out, and act like your are bothering them at their job! It disgusts me that employees don't care about their job performance. I come here for great products at good prices, but the service at this location has gone downhill over the years sadly. My checkout experience was mediocre at best. The cashier had someone helping him pack, but the whole time they were deep engaged in conversation, I felt mostly ignored through the process. Although I had a very large order, the helper did not help me unload anything out of the cart. He simply put some of my cool items in my cooler bags, which was very sloppily done and ended up crushing cherry tomatoes, berries, and so on. In addition the bags weren't even close to closing. The helper did not put even the bottles and stuff into a box like what I'm used to. So I asked if he could at least put a few boxes for them on the bottom of the cart and I'd do it when I got to the car. He just pointed and said grab what you need. I really don't know why they bother with a helper for the cashier, if anything it just created more distraction and frustration. I would have rather just done it myself after the damaged tomatoes and berries to be honest. read more

The gas station is huge. They also have a car wash. The car wash line is super long but I did not feel like I had to wait for too long for my turn to get a car wash. They are super busy and sometimes it is so hard to find the parking spot. read more

If you can become a member I would recommend doing so, especially given today's gas and food and other household items prices. These warehouses are always really clean, products are excellent and getting in and out easy. Plus their pizza and ice cream is very tasty and the price is right. Costco in Scottsdale is much the same as Costco in Enfield CT, South Windsor CT, West Springfield MA, and pretty much anywhere else. Rotisserie chicken is $4.99, a hot dog at the food court (with drink) is $1.50 plus tax. Costco's in AZ also sell wines and name brand spirits. Where my best friend, Fat Boy Slim, lives, in Astoria NY, they don't offer free samples. He says the people are like animals... they would take the whole tray. So it was a real treat for him to be able to sample some of the food at this Costco: provolone and salome, cucumber in a honey mustard sauce, plant based chicken, sparkling water, acai smoothie, and steak and cheese sandwich (6 times until he got busted), and several other items. Very disappointed with this Costco location. I have been a Costco (Price Club) member for over forty years and have shopped this location loyally since it opened in 1987. Unfortunately, particularly during the past couple of years, during my visits I have noticed that the employees are increasingly unprofessional and unhelpful. For instance, when asked simple questions, staff are often highly dismissive and argumentative. Really some of the worst customer experience I have encountered. I value the friendly environment I usually experience at Costco. I now shop at the North Phoenix location, where the staff are significantly better and provide a much experience for shoppers. I love me some Costco! I tend to get anything and everything that makes sense in bulk here. I have not been to this location before, but was in the area and needed a few things. We ran in about 30-40 minutes before close, and they were still quite bumping. As with most Costco's it was organized in a similar fashion. We were able to get in and out in about 15 minutes through self checkout. The food court and lines were getting pretty lengthy, I suppose to be expected so close to close, but honestly they are always busy. One thing I had not seen at other Costco's or at least the one I frequent was a free air station for your tires! Perhaps It is something I haved missed on past visits, or jsut don't find myself searching for since we can fill ours at home, but It was cool to see it was an option if I found myself in need. read more

A few weeks ago, I contacted the store to complain about rotten lemons and onions. Instead of speaking with a manager, I was transferred to Kim in another department while trying to find someone in management. My frustration grew after multiple calls without resolution. At one point, Kim rudely told me to be quiet so she could speak, which was insulting and unacceptable. Eventually, I spoke with a manager and immediately voiced my dissatisfaction. Our family spends $300 to $500 weekly at this location, yet I often see spoiled produce. Just yesterday, my husband bought squash with a packing date of April 27--today is May 10. It's disappointing that such old produce remains on the shelves of a busy store. I wonder if someone, possibly from a third-world country, is intentionally holding onto expired stock to avoid waste instead of discarding it for fresh supplies. This behavior is unacceptable. Corporate needs to investigate why outdated produce is sold instead of being replaced with fresh items. I enjoy shopping at Costco, but this issue requires urgent attention. I tried some of their new food court items. The Latte Freeze is made with Cold Brewed Kirkland Signature Columbian Coffee. The Mocha Freeze is similar with an extra shot of chocolate syrup. It tasted pretty good and I think coffee lovers will like it if they like coffee slush drinks. I tried the mango slush a while back and did not like it too much. I thought it had more of an apple flavor. If you left it in the refrigerator too long or didn't drink it soon enough, it became a brownish color. The parking is crazy like usual and very crowded. I went to Costco today 3/8 and spent approximately $300. As I was leaving, I stopped so they could look at my receipt. The lady at the door went through every item I had but I'm watching the other lady who is scanning receipts doing it quickly and allowing people to leave without all the detail. The lady looking at my receipt then says oh your receipt says you have 2 boxes of mandarin oranges but your cart has mandarin oranges and nectar. The two boxes are from the same manufacturer, Dole, same amount, so I guess the cashier just scanned one box twice. The lady told me she needs to call someone and she needs my card like I did something wrong. Keep in mind the store was packed and now everybody is looking at me like I was trying to steal. I told her she's not getting my card so she asked me to walk with her. I told her how embarrassing this was and how nobody else's receipt got checked to the level they checked mine. Do you know this petty lady went to another machine to scan the prices and then told me I owe them .92 cents? I was like are you kidding me? Y'all lame and racist and you need to teach your cashiers to do their jobs properly so customers are not embarrassed because of the cashier's mistakes. This was a disgusting experience and Costco needs to be ashamed of themselves. That lady took my .92 cents like I tried to steal from them. I want to start by saying that I have NEVER had a single problem with anyone who works inside the Costco on Hayden Road. For years, every employee has been kind, helpful, and absolutely wonderful. I've been bringing my 83-year-old father (6'6", 150 lbs, frail, and needing physical assistance) to this Costco for hearing appointments, and I have ALWAYS entered through the exit so I can take the shortest and safest route to the Hearing Center. Today, for the first time ever, a new front-door employee stopped us and told us we could NOT enter through the exit--despite my father clearly struggling to walk and holding onto my arm for support. He had an appointment, and the long walk around is extremely difficult for him. This has nothing to do with the other wonderful employees inside the store. They have always treated us with kindness. This was specifically an issue with the employee stationed at the entrance, who showed no understanding or compassion toward an elderly man with mobility challenges. It felt incredibly insensitive and honestly inhumane to deny a safe, reasonable accommodation for someone who can barely walk long distances. Just a heads up to caregivers: If you rely on the Hayden Costco for hearing or pharmacy appointments, be aware that they may now refuse to let you use the safe, short path through the exit--something I've done without issue for years. Until this is resolved, I would recommend choosing another Costco that is more understanding of elderly and mobility-impaired members. read more

Very busy Costco! Came here on a Monday and parking was difficult, found one towards the Hayden exit. People were not watching where they were going and we almost got hit. Drivers were bad at parking! The warehouse itself was nicely laid out and we found most of the items we needed. Costco is for big families, especially for their fresh produce, meat department, and those famous hot dogs. Their gas prices are also a huge plus. This particular location has great lighting and a better layout compared to others, which I really appreciate. However, customer service can be lacking -- the employees seem to try their best, but they often look unhappy or overwhelmed. Parking is another downside -- it's consistently difficult to find a spot no matter what day of the week. Overall, a decent Costco with some strengths, but there's room for improvement. read more

There were two people ahead of me the first guy was checked fast since the line was piling up. The second guy he literally told him go! Yes, it can get suoper busy at certain time and when the snow birds are in town but thats to be expected. They recently started letting people with the black membership cards coming in 1 hour before opening that completely resolves in crowding issues. I've only had a few of our weekly staples oit of stock 1 time. When really like the prices on their meats, especially the organic ground beef and ground bison. My son is also obsessed with the frozen organic blueberries and usually eats 2 servings of them for breakfast daily. read more

Every Costco has its own slight differences due to the demographics in the area and this one is no different in its difference :p. The parking lot here is a bit hectic and cramped feeling compared to the Tempe location. At this Costco there are a lot of members that will: - Ignore you (Or not see you?) and cut in front of you in line to check out - Almost crash into you because they don't slow down when steering their cart - Create Costco gridlocked traffic in the aisles but then again it's holiday season so there are going to be a lot of slooooowly meandering people here regardless The more unique items I've seen here have been geared towards Asian products or fine dining. Brown sugar boba ice cream bars in bulk? YES! This location is the only one where I've seen an entire refrigerator section devoted to prime grade beef (Look for the blue Styrofoam packages), including an impressive array of whole beef ribeyes. They also sell A5 Wagyu ribeye beef in the freezer section and not one, but two types of truffles. Fancy schmancy! For some reason small gift boxes of chocolates, cookies, etc. were lacking here compared to the Tempe store. Do N. Scottsdalians not like butter cookies and chocolate bon bons for Xmas? Perhaps they only gift out truffle carpaccio and prime grade filet mignon? I also wasn't really able to find any chips for some reason. If they had them, they must have been in a completely different section than at the other Costcos I've been at. One plus of this location compared to others is the car wash. It's a nice convenient perk that I wish the Costcos closer to where I live offered. read more
