I checked everywhere I had been to make sure that it was L&C that had stolen them. Yep. They had been sucked down the Black Hole of Allen's (the worst nurse at L&C IMHO) ego. I phoned Walmart in O'Fallon where I had originally purchased the glasses (approx. $280) but they would be unable to replace the glasses for a week! I phoned a local optician but that shop told me that it would be two weeks! I was desperate! That night I talked with my ex-wife who lives in a small town in Alabama (yes, Mary and Henry. You can still be friends with your ex). She had just gotten new glasses at her local LensCrafters. The glasses cost her about $250 and were ready in less than an hour! I know. Sounds like a LensCrafters Commercial. Quite honestly I was skeptical. I found a LensCrafters close to St. Joseph Hospital in St. Charles on the internet and phoned them. I explained my problem: I was in the hospital and L&C Rehabilitation (Allen) had eaten my glasses. I would have to order the frames unseen and hope that the Walmart Eye Center in O'Fallon would release my prescription. Then there was the problem of delivery. I have no local relatives and just recently moved here from Alabama so have few friends. The manager of this LensCrafters said there would be no problems and he was as good as his word. The new glasses cost just over $300. He personally delivered my glasses to me in my hospital room before 5:00 the same afternoon. Thank you, LensCrafters for being a standup company. I don't trust reviews like this one. Those who know me will know that it is true and absolutely accurate. For everyone else, I urge you to try this eyestore.

After having been to two other eye care places, Clarkson Eyecare was a breath of fresh air. As soon…read morewalked through the door we were greeted with a friendly face at the desk. I told her we were just looking for glasses as I already had a prescription from my doctor. She pointed us in the direction and let us roam. While someone was always available for a quick question, there was no hovering or stalking feelings. When I had two frames and sunglasses picked out along with my son's pair of glasses, Irene jumped in and immediately started looking up my benefits. Even after having a difficult time pulling up the info and having to call to verify, she remained pleasant and apologetic for the wait. We even had to call my eye doctor to verify the script as it was hand written and she was determined to make sure she read it correctly. She combined the current promotion with my benefits and was able to save me a ton of money. The office officially closed at 1pm (On Saturday) and we were there until close to 1:30p. We felt bad making them stay late, but they never made us feel rushed. We even witnessed another person trying to come in after the office was closed. The other technician opened the door and asked how she could help. The person had tried to make it sooner from a memorial because she wanted to take advantage of the current promotion that ended that day. The technician showed great care and offered to give her the promotion rate if she came back on Monday instead since they were already closed. Every person in that office came across as very professional and caring. I will never go anywhere else and will highly recommend this office to everyone that needs eye care. In a world where customer service tends to fall short, congratulations to Clarkson Eyecare for getting it right!

I was a first timer to this location today, and I would not visit again, unfortunately. The front area looks like it has been renovated or updated fairly recently, but the building is old. The exam rooms are showing their age, and are not well insulated for sound, making them not as private as I'd prefer. The form I was asked read and sign, pre-appointment, could've been straight out of a comic strip... It was a copy of a copy of a copy, it appeared. Black and white, double-sided, and really streaky vertically. Almost impossible to read a line of it, especially given that I was there because I misplaced my last pair of readers a couple of hours before I walked in. So I asked the receptionist about the content, and the purple highlighted sections where I was to sign or initial, assuming it was typical pre-exam patient release form legalese. (It was.) BTW, I went in for a preventative annual eye exam, and as I only wear readers, I'm unable to speak to the experience of purchasing glasses there. Overall, a meh on the exam.

My prescriptions varied by the doctor and the day. Once I hit THAT AGE and needed bifocals, it was worse. So I found Overland on Yelp and realized I had driven by it a zillion times without even realizing it. The staff are very friendly and prompt. They usemore advanced equipment than the other place, too. Dr. Lueckenhoff is great. He was very helpful in understanding what I was unhappy with in my last set of contacts and is currently working with me to find the right contact lenses for me. Meanwhile, I have a new pair of glasses that are very nice and prescription-perfect. I would have no qualms recommending anyone to go here (except my ex. He can find his own place!) August 2018: I just took my 80+ yr-old father in for an eye exam and glasses. He was way overdue. The team did a great job attending to his needs, helping him find glasses similar to his current pair, and working with his insurance. He didn't think he needed new glasses until the doctor showed him the before and after of his prescription!

This was one of the most thorough, high tech exams I have ever had, including ones from my Ophthalmologists. Dr. Brown took her time answering all of my questions, and even looked up several products on the Internet that she felt would be beneficial for me to use. She has a very gracious and calming way of handling her patients, and she used color computer photography of both my eyes to better explain what was going on. I highly recommend her! Karen W.
