This was the best experience I had from all the other MyEyeDr's in CT (Dixwell Ave in Hamden &…read moreWhalley Ave in New Haven) and optometry places in general. Unlike those places, I wasn't rushed, I wasn't snickered at when I told them about my budget and wasn't pushed out the door. I was just there this morning for my 8:30am appointment with Dr. Patel (Jan 22, 2021). From the moment the front desk person let me in, I was asked for general COVID symptom questionnaires, asked to sanitize my hands and even gave me a mask to wear in the office. Now that is a place that values safety for both the customer and the employees there. She was very pleasant and professional. Even with the handoff to the technician, I saw that each door had "clean or not clean" signs and she actually sprays all the patient contact surfaces even prior to me sitting in and putting my chin on the machine. She was very nice when asking questions and I didn't feel pushed to pursue any eye imaging for extra charge and I appreciated that. Even Dr. Jamee Patel when she came in, she was very sweet and she answered all my questions dutifully and truthfully as she can. The eye exam I had was the most THOROUGH I've gone through compared to the 2 other CT locations I've been at, which felt rushed and hastily done. I felt assured that when she said you have 'healthy eyes', like she actually checked. She even 'corrected' the overcorrected prescription from my last optometrist (MyEyeDr Whalley Ave New Haven), gave me pointers on how to save money as a grad student on medicaid. Even the salesperson treated me respectfully, didn't push me to buy more expensive add-ons and even got the prices from costco, BJ's, walgreens, 1800contacts, and theirs and told me where the cheapest place was to get it. That's just transparency and honestly that the customers respect and will make us repeat patients. From the person who let me in, the technician, the optometrist and the salesperson, i had a great experience. I didn't feel rushed, all my questions were answered and I wasn't being 'sold' on the expensive coatings and they were transparent with all of the prices and offerings. Honestly, I'd be a lifetime patient in this location if I could. One more thing too, I admire the diversity in this office! As a POC myself, it was a very inviting and welcoming environment. This place is a 5 out of 5 stars for me. Maybe next time, just by chance, I would be assigned a different set of employees but with my initial visit today, I am definitely impressed. Thank you guys for what you do in keeping us patients safe!

I was running a little late as there was traffic. When I got there (five mins late) I was treated…read moreextremely rude by the front office staff. Then they said you can go back with...some woman who was dressed inappropriately with a green army jacket. And was kind of unfriendly and twitchy. I thought it was the doctor? I was never properly introduced. It turns out she was a tech who just had me look in the viewfinder and took a picture of my eyes and the nerves behind them (option done now instead of dilating eyes). Once she was done she passed me off to the 'doctor'. She asked what kind of lenses Id been wearing and for reason I could not remember, which should not have been a big deal. Typically optometrists I've gone to in the past . Have told me about new and improved lenses. Instead she had me call my former eye doctor (who is in another state) and get them to send me my prescription from last year's exam. And that is the exact prescription she wrote up for me. They actually berated me for not knowing my lens brand. It was one of the most uncomfortable eye exam experiences I've ever had. And Ive gone every year for the past 30 plus since I've been wearing contact lenses. The only reason I chose this place is because my insurance was accepted it snd I'm new to the area. Horrible. I was afraid to go back and pick up the lenses.
