I love you Costco. LOL I may have a fewer number of siblings than your typical Polynesian family, but that doesn't mean my extended family members aren't a part of my life....and my house. That means my house should, considering I have the money to blow, stay stocked with the necessities to accomodate my family and friends: drinks, snacks of all kinds, home goods, etc. This particular location has friendly employees and are always stocked with carts, even on the busier days/times I can get a cart from the front without searching all over America for it. Costco store: this store is great, I come here so much that some of the staff knows me. Everyone is friendly and kind. I moved to Riverton and there are 3 stores I could go to, but I drive to Murray. Everyone works greats and they keep the lines moving. Extremely friendly staff. Costco tire store: so the tire store is a little off, it's like it's own entity. The staff is great and they are very helpful. The problem is the installation. For some reason it's packed and it's a very long wait. I mean extremely long. So honestly plan on dropping it off in the morning and picking it up that night. It's a whole day process. Not sure what they can do to make it more efficient, but they need some ideas. Appointments are the same too, they take hours and even though you have a time. It still takes a long time. I give the tire center a 4 stars. read more

I love Costco. They have some of the best meats in the area unless you go to a specialty butcher. If I am grilling then this is where I go. They have fresh fruits and vegetables. The bakery makes the most devilsh treats around fresh everyday. So many good things to choose from. The hard part is shopping for only two people. If you have a large family then Costco makes a lot of sense. The best part is you can get a hot dog and fountain drink for $1.50. That pretty amazing these days. I definitely prefer this location of the 21st South store. The staff are more friendly, parking is easier, and the overall experience is better. They accept Amex and debit cards. read more

I've been to dozens of Costco locations throughout several states and I can say for certain that the Murray, Utah warehouse is the worst Costco I have ever been to. Every time after you pay, you find yourself for at least 10-15 minutes in a cart traffic jam as one (or sometimes two) employees leisurely check receipts at the door. Sometimes you watch as they chat up customers for a few minutes while all the other customers are waiting with food melting in their carts. It's absolutely maddening. Why is "loss prevention" so much more important than customer experience? I will probably have to take my business elsewhere. I love Costco prices and selection, but this isn't worth it anymore. read more

Just got budged by a customer who didn't have a cart at first, then had an entire cart full brought to him by an employee of Costco.... later to find out he didn't have the funds to pay at first time around.... really? Ah Costco. To buy a membership or not to buy one is the question. Is it weird that this is my first time here? Have I been living under a rock? The food court isn't bad and I don't have any complaints. A huge slice of pizza for 2 bucks is a solid deal and that's the only thing I've tried here but if I'm back I'll venture off to other menu items. I can understand why families value Costco but for those who are a one person show- is it worth it? A basic membership is $55 and my friends encouraged me to hop on the Costco bandwagon but I remain hesitant due to the fact that I do not have a big family and I'm only supporting myself. I like Costco and I am considering signing up for a membership but I only grocery shop once a month if that, so is it worth it? The food looks good and prices are great for the most part so what am I to buy at Costco in bulk that I can't get cheaper at Smiths or Harmons? One thing I love is Costco's meat. They have the best prices on halibut. The meat dept. has a fast turn over so meat is always fresh, top sirloin always tender not tuff like other store's. You can't beat the prices on flowers. I have been going to their optical dept. for years can't beat the price. If you don't have a membership get one. You won't be disappointed. read more

I really put a lot of thought into what my very first review would be. I wanted to start off with a place I had been to many times with a rating of 5 stars. Costco is what I am choosing. With this economy, Costco has such outstanding prices that are consistent and way less then grocery store prices that always maintain high quality items. My favorite department is the meat department. It is by far the freshest I have ever had. I never make a trip without buying the hamburger, chicken and tri- tip. If you are looking for something and don't find it, ask for Jeff. He will help you out. He is friendly and knowledgeable. Costco also has extraordinary fresh produce. I have never been disappointed. I also buy all of my dairy products there. The Costco food court is amazing if you want a quick snack and I can guarantee you, that you will not find any food like this cheaper. Here are a few examples. 1. Pizza slice- large $1.99 2. 1/4 pound all beef hot dog or polish with 20 oz. soda free refill $1.50 3. Berry smoothie or latte/mocha freeze $1.45 4. Hand dipped ice cream bar w/ roasted almonds $1:50 5. 20 oz soda .59 with free refill Need gas? Fill your tanks up a few cents cheaper per gallon. A few cents may not seem like a big deal, but if your already there anyway, through time, it can add up. Approximately every six weeks, Costco has a large coupon book that they mail out with opportunities for even further discounts on selected items.. The basic membership costs $55.00 per year and you get 2 cards for 2 different people. Friend, or family makes no difference to them. read more

I am a single woman living by herself in a one bedroom apartment, yet my Costco membership is one of my most prized and essential possessions! Why? Seven words: Cleaning supplies, dog food, toiletries, and frozen fish. Also, part of my job is planning weekend leisure activities for a group of adults with disabilities. I implore you: does a better activity than Saturday sample day at Coscto exist on this earth?! I doubt it. Especially when followed up with a $1.50 hot dog and soda combo from their food court. Called tire center to ask if I needed an appointment (turns out yes) and whether they had tires for my car before I drove in. Guy seem flustered when I told him I could only tell him the make and model of my car, not the specific tires I needed. Long and short of it was that after 10 minutes waiting on hold to talk to someone, and talking to a guy for 3 minutes he hung up on me. I called back and tried to find a customer service person, but long and short of it was no gave a sh*t. read more

This Costco location can get busy like many other locations and has everything that other locations have, but they surely have the most samples. If you are not satisfied with abundance of samples every few steps, be sure to check out the food court that has hard-to-beat $1.50 hot dog and drink combo or $10 ginormous whole pizza that will feed multiple people. Costco basic memberships are $55/year, but I believe it's well worth it. If you have a large family and shop a lot at Costco, you can upgrade to the executive membership for another $55/year more to get 2% of your spending at the end of the year. The BEST part of having a Costco membership is their cheap gas. Costco offers gas prices usually 10-20 cents per gallon cheaper than other gas stations few blocks away. Don't be too discouraged if you don't have a membership card! You can still enter through the exit and enjoy their cheap food and you can have a member buy gift cards for you and shop without a membership card! read more

Costco recently changed their policy that you can't "prepaid" your cashier for purchase the food from the food court... :( To me it's really inconvenient.....Sometimes I don't have any cash or checks with me or like today I DO have enough cash BUT don't feel like waiting in a long line (approximately 8-10 minutes) to order a large pizza to go and also have to wait for the pizza to be ready. (approximately another 10 minutes) After you already there for couple hrs... So, NO PIZZA for me today.... :( read more

I love Costco in general, but this particular location gets 5 stars for being my favorite in the valley. I live closer to the Sandy Costco, but would much rather save my Costco stop for when I'm in Murray just to come here. It's less crowded, and thus better stocked. Best reasons to come to Costco: fabulous produce, high quality meats, they automatically warantee all electronics purchases, their return policy is awesome, the Costco Amex gives great cash back, and seperate from the Amex, you get cash back on all Costco purchases--we always get enough back to cover our Costco membership. Plus, inexpensive and high quality photo development and a cheap & tasty food court. Oh, and discounted gas. Score! read more

To preface this, we have a 2 year old and a 3 month old, and my wife was obviously carrying a diaper bag. Entering Costco at this location last night, we show our card as usual and walk in. About 50-100 ft in the door, one of the workers jogs over to my wife and says "just so you know, Costco reserves the right to search your bag before you leave". He then walks away. Great business idea to alienate your patrons and make them feel like you think they are going to steal from you. read more

I heart Costco. Seriously. They have high quality meat and produce- the main reasons I have a Costco membership. They sell prime grade beef, so you can buy some awesome steaks in bulk. You have to be a big fruit and veggie eater to get through a Costco-size bag of produce, which I am. I love the berries and the apples, especially. I also really like their pizza and the chicken alfredo for my "I don't wanna cook" nights. Costco is a dangerous place, though. Even if just run in for a few things, I consider it a victory if I get out for less than $100. I always find other things I "need," like a new shirt, socks, a small appliance, and/or industrial-size package of Sharpies. Oh, I love Sharpies. It's a good thing I work in a lab where I can write with them every day, but I digress... Last time I was in there, I spent a long while looking at the jewelry case. They had a beautiful Gucci watch that will be mine some day. Did you hear me, Costco? Gucci = Mine. Mostly because I can't afford the Cartier one. Champagne tastes on a liquor-store beer budget. *sigh* I purchased tires a while back and I love that I can take my car in for balance and rotation while I shop. Their fuel prices are great- often $0.10- $0.20 per gallon cheaper than a regular gas station. My brother, who is far better at money crap than me, once told me that if you just buy gas and milk at Costco, the membership will pay for itself. I think he assumes this to be true if you aren't an impulse buyer like me. They only accept AmEx and debit cards, no Visa or MC charge cards, FYI, so plan ahead. Also, if you have a flex spending card for your healthcare costs, last time I checked they wouldn't accept them unless you had a pin number. read more

When we first got our membership there was a promotion going on with a $30 first card and we never received it. They no longer have the organic stuff like the oatmeal or Annie's cheese puffs. They have mainly your basic foods. It's nice for water and toiletries. Anyways I just had a strawberry sundae and it was disgusting. The ice cream has an odd taste. I usually love Costco, and user their pharmacy quite frequently.. But this is the last time I use this Costco in Murray! You'd think that a few perceptions would be quick to fill.. Especially when it's pretty slow, but you'd be wrong. We had a set of perceptions transferred over from Sandy, at first it was it will be 20-25 minutes.. After that came and went, it was another 15-20 because the Sandy pharmacy needed to release the perceptions.. Came back and was instructed that it would be a few more minutes and to take a seat.. Another 30 minutes later.. Still waiting and no perceptions, also turns out that they don't have all of them and I will be required to come back tomorrow for the remainder of them.. Alright, so this might be ridiculous but I am kind of mad at Costco. I really enjoy going to Costco around lunch time so I can make whatever purchases I need to and then I enjoy a cheap lunch at their food court. When I check out I ask the cashier to add a hot dog or slice of pizza or whatever to my bill. I then pay with my debit card. The reason I go this route is because I almost never have cash on me, mostly because the businesses I frequent usually accept my debit card. I went in today and was told when I checked out that I can no longer pay for food court items at the cashier check out. No one at the Costco knew why, so I called their corporate call center. They claim that numerous customers had complained about having to wait for cashiers to ring up food court purchases for the customers in the front of the line. These complainers allege that it takes too long to ring up a hot dog or slice of pizza. RIDICULOUS!! When I buy a hot dog the cashier has a small piece of cardboard next the register that has the bar code stickers for each food court item. They have to scan the bar code and that is it. How is that any longer of a process than scanning any other item you get at Costco? It's amazing to me that any one person would complain about this, but they claim "numerous" customers complained about it. It's even more amazing that Costco put effort, energy, time and other resources into changing the policy and notifying every single Costco warehouse of said changes. For what reason did they do this? To placate some ridiculous cry baby customers that can't wait an extra 5 to 10 seconds in line while the customer in front of them gets a hot dog added to their bill is why. CRAZY!! For me, the principle of this whole thing is what makes me want to not renew my membership. I hate when companies are willing to listen to moronic complaints and placate the idiots that make these kind of complaints. What most likely happened is some egg head at corporate got annoyed that he had to wait while a cashier fumbled through the process of adding a hot dog to the bill of the customer in front of him so a new policy was born. So, you think you're all that, eh Costco? FYI, there are a lot of markets in Utah with deals just as good, if not better than Costco. So, your gas is like 3 cents cheaper than your competitor, big deal. Changing the convenient and easy process of buying food court items is absolute garbage regardless of the reasoning. If people want to cancel their memberships because you allowed customers to pay for food court items in the check out line then LET THEM CANCEL!! WHO WANTS CUSTOMERS LIKE THAT? I won't buy your food court items any more because it is no longer convenient for me to do so. I imagine your food court sales will take a hit now just to appease some moronic cry baby group of customers. Good one, Costco, nice work. read more

Costco to me has always been one of those oddities of the Cosmos. It has some good specific purposes, and is useful in a number of ways as I'll explain. It's funny, just because you can go people watching, and it's cool because you can buy insane quantities of things that most people probably don't need. Now with that description it sounds a bit like my Yelp review ratings - it seems I have become useful, and not so funny these days and only just slightly cool. I suppose that is a compliment, but let's try to balance the score a little! What is a Costco.... It's a huge warehouse like store where you can buy more toilet paper or other commodities such as kitty litter, pet food, meats, blenders, saucepans etc. than you could ever need. However, I was watching a special on TV the other night about earthquakes, and I've determined that with strategically positioned packets of 48 rolls of Kirkland toilet tissue at the corners of each closet in the 4 bedrooms on the second level of our house, and a few under the foundations, we could probably add enough ballast to our house to dampen out most of the affects of the "big one" - or as my wife says, me entering the master bathroom on a morning after eating Indian food. It's also another of those fine places you can pay a subscription to for exercise (we call it Costco Express!) it's a great backup for a good hike when you failed to getup super early to visit the gym, and need somewhere to visit on the evening to buy the huge amounts of "purified" water you need if you work out regularly since if you have a water softener, you'll know what I mean. The cats hate drinking that! I would say it also kills every house plant, but we need no help with that. Even for us humans it's not convenient hauling a water softener out of your basement and to the gym or even on an outside hike which I better recommend, but if you choose Costco, they have a fine vitamin selection if you do get vitamin D challenged. And $3.49 for 20 bottles of water freshly taken from the tap and then filtered in West Valley and bottled for Kirkland? You know it must be good, we don't get that good stuff in Riverton. On top of that, Costco also sell the salt that can be used to top up your water softener, or I guess you could add it to the filtered water if you need a bit more taste. Compared to other warehouse stores, this is definitely the better chain and the only one we keep membership to now. This is a good location, though we generally go to the Sandy store. This one has better parking (or drivers) but a Costco inside is just what it is and there's not much you can fault for that. For bulk supplies or just a quick hike around while seeing if there's something new (things change quick in the novelty item areas of Costco!), they are great. Just avoid on Saturday, this is (almost) as crazy as the Sandy store too on checkout. read more

I'll lead off by just saying that I love Costco and this is a great location of theirs. The layout of this specific location is easy to navigate and everything is where it should be. They have a suprising Blu-Ray/DVD section for less than you can get them at the Best Buy across the road and they have basically everything you could need or want. Everything they sell is high quality and fresh from their beef and pork, to their fruit and vegetables. The membership fee and only accepting American Express might throw some people off, but this is one of the better places you can go to get basically any and everything you need. read more

I have been shopping at Costco since they opened in my area and as I've gotten older (late 60's) it has become too difficult to shop at this store. I find I'm overlooked when people come to help in the line and many younger customers get preferential treatment no matter how full my cart is. Today I loaded my own cart which I often do and usually don't mind, but when I tried to pick up some smaller boxes was treated rudely by the checker. I had several expensive heavy objects that were difficult to maneuver in the line. I will probably be curtailing my shopping at Costco even with our executive membership. I usually absolutely love Costco and am a lifetime fan. Today though is an exception to that, the person at the door was extremely rude and unwelcoming which I've never experienced. I came here to purchase the new AirPods Pro and upon going to the checkout stand, Barikui saw me and turned around conversing with her colleagues. I was trying to hand her the cardboard cut out that you need when purchasing high-priced electronics, she didn't say hello, not one word to me, with her back turned to me she pointed the scanner at me without saying anything. Tried handing her the cardboard and in a rude voice she says "can I get your membership card?" Then "it's too early for this". Extremely rude and I will never return to this Costco. I have a sams membership now and it's closer to my home. I will go to the Costco in Salt Lake City next time instead, if I ever return read more

Yesterday I drove all way from Casper WY to the Costco in Murray UT to have my Michelin tires that I bought from Costco about 18 months ago, rotated. I also asked them to repair a small leak in one tire. I received a call back saying there was a nail in the wall of the tire and unrepairable and that because...blah, blah, blah ..... I would have to buy 2 tires. Also that I was fortunate my car was not all wheel drive or that in would have to buy FOUR tires!!!! What??!! Because of a nail???!!! After much conversation I said no, I can not spend over $300 right now and to please just put on the spare tire. I picked up my car and drive down to Midvale to a Les Schwab. I don't know these men at all, they know nothing about me. They pulled the damaged tire out of the back of my car and said, " Oh, this can be fixed." I really thought at the very least I would have to buy at least one tire to get back to WY. I ended up waiting about 15 minutes and drive out NOT PAYING ONE CENT!!!! Not at all happy with the tire center. At all at all. Not one but two tires needed warranty. One for bulge and one for a nail on the sidewall. I'm driving away with my teeny spare and a nail still in a tire. My safety apparently takes a back seat to working with me on switching to Michelin's that they have in stock. I will be driving home on shit dangerous tires and returning on Monday to get the replacements. I didn't expect a straight across replacement. In fact the prorated shitty tires still are costing $78 to replace but full-price for the Michelins including install for two of them doesn't speak to the typical Costco attitude of taking care of the customer and making sure I'm safe. read more
