This Costco is smaller than other Costcos I've been to. The parking lot is a bit hectic (and it's a smaller lot compared to other Costcos too.) This is the only Costco in Vermont, so it's kind of surprising it's not bigger. They have electronics but I didn't notice anything like gaming consoles, just lots of TVs and laptops. Frozen foods (they seem to have more frozen breakfast foods than frozen dinner meals), household products, clothing, several aisles of pantry items, beer and wine section, a bakery with some nice looking baked goods... They do have self checkout, but the register area was chaotic. Not every register was operational. Long lines, front of store between granola bars and registers was just people standing around with carts waiting, even at self checkout. In fact, the self checkout line was longest, going back a ways into the aisles. The register crowd makes navigating the store a bit slower towards the front near snacks, medicines and personal care products, laundry products, and clothing. And maybe it's just me, but the snack aisles also seem narrower than not only other Costco I've been to, but narrower than all the other aisles in this store. And they're some of the busiest aisles! The prices are good, I didn't check out the pharmacy or the gas area - though the gas area seemed chaotic and really added stress to the parking lot. I love Costco because they're the same (more or less) everywhere you go. I felt a world away from home when I moved to Vermont, but the second I stepped into this warehouse, it was familiar, comfortable, and home (in a sense). I always said that if I was stuck somewhere overnight, I would want it to be in a Costco warehouse. However, I do have a couple complaints about this particular Costco location. Maybe I'm spoiled, but I love a Costco with a gas station. Then, it would really have everything I need. The other issue I have is with the food court. They offer an Italian sausage roll, which I haven't come across at any other location, but I found it to be overpriced (relative to Costco costs) and overcooked. I was also sad to see that they did not offer Polish dogs along with their regular hot dogs. On one such occasion, they ran out of sauerkraut and churros. How do you run out of components when you are in a Costco warehouse?? But, I'm glad to see that they serve the new carne asada bake here. Specific warehouses also cater to the needs of the geographic location so it's nice to see that they offer a lot of winter gear here such as gloves, hand and toe warmers, winter socks, etc. Costco also helped me furnish my new bedroom when I moved here. It was a quick and easy place to find a bed mattress and furniture. I love Costco! read more

Like any other costco I've seen in Calif. The layout is the same, the outdoor brick and paint is the same. The wine selection was interesting relative to Calif: - fewer wines (only one wooden stand of high end wines, not two) - West coast wines were 15-20% more expensive; Australian wines were 33% more. - European wines were slightly cheaper. Buy in bulk and save but not everything may be cheap. Great place to develop digital photos at very cheap prices including enlargements and posters. Eye glass center offers very reasonably priced frames and lenses. Bakery produces fresh products. Costco is also a great place to have some cheap lunch at their deli by the front entrance. read more

Costco is my favorite store around. You literally have it all here-I mean it! I often drop in to buy bulk items like TP or shampoo or even razors. But even more often I come by to grab a snack or treat for a work function as they are cheap and supply you with an insane amount of product. We come here from Montreal to pick up some of the offerings that aren't available in Canada. As with most Costco stores, selection is pretty good and let's face it, where else can you get some great Hebrew National hot dogs and salami! The service is pretty good. Save yourself a ton of time researching your next TV, printer, wireless router (etc.) purchase and just buy what they have at Costco. Aaaaaah...to be on familiar grounds. For a moment there, I forgot that I was in the "countryside". The place was just teeming with shoppers getting their month's supply of what-not's. There was the familiar smell of their pizza and hotdogs in their food court. And, even at 2 o' clock on a Wednesday afternoon, there were sampling tables from corner to corner. I came here for two main reasons: to pick up supplies of Kirkland Baby Wipes (I think they are the best wipes ever!) and to check out the Nordic Track elliptical machine. Sans the elliptical, I went home with much more than I had planned to buy that day. Costco just seems to have more merchandise to offer than Sam's Club or BJ's. The staff are friendly and helpful. There were only 2 customer assistance reps and both helped me out in different instances. It doesn't have a gas station and it is just too damn far away from us so, that sucks for me. I'll still visit whenever we make a trip to Burlington. read more

Great store for bulk product purchasing! You need a membership to enter the facility. Once inside they have a vast selection of products! There is electronic, house hold items, clothes, bakery, meat, and general grocery. Find fresh items here with large quantity for half the price as grocery stores! Their Kirkland brand is quality materials. There are free sample carts situated throughout the warehouse. It is nice to try a sample before purchasing the entire product. The store is very busy during the weekend. All of the cash registers are in used and they still can't check out fast enough! They accept cards and cash here. It is bulk products so you will not receive grocery plastic bags. They have a great food service here! You can get a quart pound hot dog with a 20 oz fountain drink for $1.50! Overall, great place to shop for large quantity products! read more

Costco does it again! I came here looking for a new big HD TV and I found it! Hell Costco even help me load it up. So for about 2 and half weeks I was looking at HD TVs. Sense technology is sort of my thing I always do my own research. Getting a good panel and the biggest bang for my buck is what I'm all about! So after a few weeks of looking around and coming to Costco a few times during my free time I finally decided on one model. I ended up with a 50" and 120 hertz refresh rate Vizio smart TV. (E-Series - 50" Class) The pricing here was about $20 more than Best buy but there is a catch here. With Costco they give you an extra year warranty at no cost to the customer. So the extra $20 is worth it! They do not match prices in case your wondering. Why? Not a clue but they still manage to be the best deal in town! The customer service was amazing. This is not something that I can say about most big box stores. The sales people here make no extra money based on what they sell. I had the pleasure of dealing with a guy by the name of Curt. He was friendly and answered any questions that I had. When I came back to pickup the TV he even helped me load it up in my car! Talk about good customer service? Costco has it! Over all my experiences with our local Costco has all been great. Even the check out lines move quickly. The staff is always friendly and willing to help. Whats not to love? Its worth the $55 membership fee a year! (As of 2013) They always have new product coming in and the deals change monthly! read more

My family joined Costco a couple of years ago and we now do most of our shopping there. In general their selection, quality and service are all excellent. We pay for the membership with the savings on milk alone. The Kirkland brand products have also never disappointing. And the checkers are very efficient, clearing up long lines easily, though they do at times neglect to offer a box for your good when you clearly could use one in the process. The cafe is also very convenient and has a small array of tasty and affordable fast food. The one time I tried to use the pharmacy, however, they were extremely unhelpful and I ended up going elsewhere. The store does also sometimes stop and start carrying products that they usually have in stock. read more

I moved here from CA a few months ago and would hit up Costco for all sorts of things, and I've still had successful shopping trips at this store. It may be a VT thing but other shoppers tend to be a bit more courteous, but you still have people milling about every where you turn. Staff have been friendly so far. Costco was always my favorite place to shop. Sadly, it has changed. Many who work there are not helpful as they once were. Early this summer they stopped making available the disinfectant wipes at the door which all grocery stores have. When I asked two different people about it they had the same response "bring your own". I could not believe what I was hearing. I have a compromised immune system. I always use the wipes for baskets and carts in grocery stores. Never have I had reason to "bring my own". Even a nurse at my Dr's office brought up how Costco discontinued the disinfectant wipes. She knows this is how germs get spread. I was asking a question in the meat department. I am a senior citizen. the young man who answered told me what i was looking for was not in the store. And he called me "honey". I was stunned that a young man would, in an unfriendly way call me this. And btw, I ended up finding the meat dept product I was looking for. I find that many people who work there are not as happy or well trained as they once were. The way they re-designed their parking area (after installing gas pumps) is odd. Poorly designed for traffic.. This costco is no longer what it used to be. I would like my old well run/managed Costco back. read more

Love Costco for everything from TV's and socks, to rotisserie chicken and laundry detergent. As others have said, the prices on bread and milk are the best and some things you would pay double for at a regular grocery store. I like that they are carrying more organic and hope that trend continues. Shop with a friend and split the items that you can't eat fast enough or don't have room for. Also, they give an extra year of warranty on all electronics just for buying it there. The best return policy you can ask for and even though it is crazy busy most of the time the lines typically move quickly. read more

I will never return to the COSTCO store in Colchester, VT. The women at the service desk on 3/6/18 was so rude that I have no interest in shopping there again! How is one to know if they want to purchase a membership if they aren't allowed to walk around the store and check inventory and prices out. Absolutely no need for her to scream across the busy entryway "Don't let those ladies in!!!" No thank you, I'll stick with BJ's where the staff is polite and they give away free temporary passes so that you can check out the place. read more

Very poor customer service. Went to return a product which was not upto our satisfaction. The customer service person Carey [Staff# 1994] was very hostile and was not listening to what I was saying. She has no qualities of a customer service personnel and I am not sure why Costco employs her there. Hope they do something about it. As far the range of products go, it is obvious that other cities have a better range and I think they stock lesser range because it is the only big warehouse in the state. read more

I wish I could give zero stars. Tried to go shopping at Costco today and was not able to...again. This is at least the 4th time in less than two months. They had plenty of regular carts, but no electric carts - which is what I need to be able to use the membership that I paid for. Spoke with a couple of workers at the door, and then a manager. I told them that if they ran out of regular carts, the place would be in an uproar, but no one seems to give a damn that they had no electric carts. The attitude was "well, it's a busy afternoon, come back another time". Seriously?!?! Would they say that to a nondisabled person? Of course not. They said that they have 7 electric carts but that 2 are out of commission. Hmmm...that means that almost 30% of these carts are broken! If 30%, or even 20%, of their regular carts were unusable in certain that they would be scurrying to get more! Yet these carts have been in steady decline for years, and several times I've had them die on me halfway through the store, when I can even find one (I frequently have to wait, which is really painful with my disabilities). This isn't just a convenience. This is an essential part of the services they offer, and having insufficient access for disabled people is a violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act!!! read more

I have heard good things about Costco and I was interested in becoming a member so we drove an hour to the nearest one in Colchester, VT to check it out. When we got to the door we were stopped and told we were not allowed to go any further until we purchased a membership. I asked the "guard" how we were supposed to know we wanted a membership, or even have the ability to purchase said membership if we could not get inside to check it out and she just shrugged her shoulders. After standing there embarrassed for a couple of minutes the manager came over and told us "You are not allowed to enter without being with a current member." I asked the same question to her as I asked earlier and I got the same answer. A shrug of the shoulders. She told us she would make an exception to allow us in but we would not be allowed to purchase anything. You're right, I will never purchase anything from your stores. We were completely prepared to purchase a membership today but are no longer interested after that display of such an embarrassing and horrible business model. read more

I am surprised to find myself writing a negative review for this company, and this location in general. I just moved back from Florida and work next door to the costco warehouse located in colchester. I went in the door, explained i didn't have a membership card but that would like one, they showed me to the side of the exit and over to customer service, the mile was nearly out the door and they were very busy, i was really hungry and on a break from work, I decided to just go back another time to sign up again and just buy a hot dog quickly, after waiting in line for about 10 minutes or so, i went up and ordered, a guy with a warehouse name tag came up, told me if i didn't have a membership card i could not buy a hot dog, i mean come on, why not just tell me for future knowledge, that i can't buy food without a membership, as far as i knew for years you didn't need a membership to purchase from the food court or pharmacy. Since i was right there in line handing my money over, why not just tell me i'd need to have one for next time? why get into an argument over a 1.50 dollar hot dog? just let it go, i understand rules are rules, but i didn't know. No reason to be so rude and hostile about it. read more
