Mayrand - Département de fruits et légumes

I love food. Let's get this straight. You may know this. You may not give a damm…read more . . Places which sell copious amounts of food and have a huge selection are a candy-land for me. A true paradise. So finding Mayrand was an interesting and clever treasure hunt. Back in the late 80's my dad would take us to a place in Winnipeg called Jensen brothers. This was pre-Costco and a true cash and carry. This was the type of place where you could get some smoking deals on large quantity items. Discovering Mayrand was an exciting and intoxicating display of goods in large quantity. Do you need a 14L pail of Ice cream? Probably the hell not! Unless you are having the whole neighbourhood over for a block party. Or do you need a whole leg of prosciutto? If your family is from Italy or you are having a feast you may need one! Okay folks, Mayrand has quantities for everyday shopping as well. Lots of items! Pretty much every department. They also have a huge restaurant and commercial business side catering to restaurants, bars and other food service outfits as well. I will be honest with my review. It's not all unicorns and gumdrops. I did buy a very cool sharp oyster knife and did search on Amazon after and found it for $20 less. Yes I was a tad pissed. I did want it ASAP though to shuck the two dozen oysters I just had purchased. So shop and understand your prices. Some items here are hella cheap. Think bulk quantity. If you love shopping at Costco you will love their different product assortment. It's just off the A25 on the cusp or Anjou/RDP. Oh yes also. Visa + MasterCard are available as methods of payment making it miles above and beyond better than a cash n carry

You can come and attend workshops, information events and cooking demos - pre-covid, of course, otherwise right now these events are online. Little known fact, this location is actually open to the public and serves as a distribution center where you can shop and buy discounted Tupperware goods. This is ideal if you don't want to deal with a representative, or order online and wait for shipping. The office is located within the same area as the Costco in Anjou and the entrance is a bit hidden, but once you enter the Tupperware office, you head to the top floor and you'll be handed a clipboard and instructions on how to purchase goods. There is a room filled with bins of products, all coded with numbers and prices, you'll be given a sheet to just mark off the items you want. There is NO tax added to items, and if you spend over 100$, or 200$ for example, there are additional discounts. All payment methods are accepted (cash, debit, credit). Depending on the items and season, discounts range 30 to 70% and the stock is often changing. Tupperware is known for their food storage containers, but there are a range of products available, such as kitchen cookware, high end pots and pans, utensils and specialized tools and gadgets like meat grinders or choppers! Worth a look if you enjoy cooking or organizational solutions. I came looking for some simple water bottles - they have sturdy and colorful bottles ranging from 500ml to 1 liter which are super handy and well made so I was glad I was able to walk in and walk out without having to deal with anyone or go through some catalogue. Note that hours open to the public vary during covid - They are open Saturdays from 10 to 4PM usually, however this can change. You can call or message them on FB for additional info : https://www.facebook.com/TupperwareLesDiamants Really fun experience to shop, I recommend it if you enjoy Tupperware and never knew you could get them in person!

I really, really wanted Mainetti to be another one of my awesome finds, but getting my order took…read morefar more effort than it should have. I looked everywhere for a retailer who carried 19" hangers and found Mainetti. They have great prices and they have the hangers in black. I was even more excited when I discovered that they also carry beautiful 20" wooden suit hangers that come with engraved plaques. I placed an order online for 150+ plastic hangers and a set of the wooden hangers. I paid with my Paypal account - they only accept payment through Paypal, for which later I was very grateful. Because my order included engraving, because it was shipping from Canada, and based on information on their website, I did not anticipate receiving it for about 30 days. When it did not arrive after almost 45 days, I e-mailed Mainetti. After 3 days with no response, I opened a dispute ticket through Paypal. Only then did Mainetti respond to my original e-mail. I received a box about 10 days later, but it included only part of my order. I had to e-mail Mainetti again and wait while they determined what had happened to the rest of my order - about 15 days after that the rest of it arrived. I am not sure what caused the issue...do they monitor online orders? are they really not setup for retail and only offer that because no one else does (others are only wholesale)? Whatever it was, during resolution of the issue it didn't appear that there was anyone really in charge of this department (online orders, retail customer service, ???) It was odd, I wasn't treated disrespectfully, but I also wasn't treated as though my order really mattered. In spite of the difficulties I encountered, I don't believe this is an unscrupulous retailer and I actually would order from Mainetti again - just not over the Internet! The wooden suit hangers from Mainetti (with my husband's last name, instead of "Dillard's," engraved on the silver plaque) are beautiful, but I only ordered one set of three. If I decide to order more, I will definitely phone in my order so that I have a contact person there.

So beware that if you pick up an item from a 10$ area it might be there by mistake and you'll only find out when you come to pay, and they get very aggressive when you try to understand how the system works. What drew me to this place instantly was the yellow exterior, Aboriginal chief logo, and an appealing $10 sign. I had the impression it would be like the Black Market vintage store in Toronto - and it was. Almost all of the items were $10, except for some sweaters that were $25. There was a good selection of cool unisex t-shirts ranging from funny to raunchy, which amused the guys. They also have a nice variety of vintage clothing. There were flowy button-up blouses when you first walked in. Then to the right (in a different room) were plaid shirts, tops, sweaters, sweater vests, and cowboy boots. I found a lovely denim shirt for TEN BUCKS. Overall they are well organized, but I think it's also due to the fact that they don't have very much merchandise. I'd suggest you pop in for a quick peek and see if you fancy anything. It'll be hit or miss, but if you find something it'll definitely be a steal!
