Fabricville and Bouclair were always the two main stops but Bouclair is now mostly a design store now and half of Fabricville is also the same. Thankfully the other half of Fabricville still sells fabrics and sewing notions. I have an old-school Singer machine( all with metal parts inside) and I needed to get new needles for my machine for denim work. I found everything I needed here. Prices were pretty decent, the service was friendly but it's a location that's out of the way for me. I just wish sewing shops weren't as few and far between as they are nowadays.

I purchased a Rudsak jacket from them, provided my personal phone number and email, as well as my credit details. The order was processed and I received an order confirmation shorty after--all pretty standard protocol. An hour later I receive a string of emails to my work address from other employees in the company office in Ottawa (I am in Toronto), telling me that someone called the front desk and call centre looking for me to confirm a jacket order. This phone number is used to report emergency problems within the company, and calling it jams up the lines, not to mention is a huge invasion of privacy. On top of this, I am in a contract position that is up for renewal, and having personal phone calls and email exchanges on business time is not only incredibly embarrassing, but jeopardizes the continuation of my job. I contacted the Montreal store, where the manager (who was extremely nice and helpful) investigated and found out that an employee got my work info off of LinkedIn (not sure how he was certain this was even the right person), and contacted my employer. This phone number is not even listed on LinkedIn, so he must have looked into it even further. Still, somehow, he called an office in a different city, and shared personal information with them regarding my purchase. I have never, and would never give permission for them to do this. The store manager was at a loss for words at how this could have happened, ensured they would look into it, and forwarded me to the online manager. In my correspondence with online manager Neil Bragg, he was completely unprofessional, brushed off my concerns, and was dismissive in his responses. His response to my email politely explaining my concerns was to re-send my order confirmation, and when i said this did not address my concerns, he sent back "no probs". He hasn't so much as offered an apology, or to rectify this for me. He continues to insist "we're not the bad guys here", that they are just protecting me from credit card fraud, and that many stores do this. I am protected from fraud from my bank, I have made many large purchases online, and this has never happened before. Ultimately, he refused to forward me to the president of the company (I emailed and called to no avail), so I have been forced to write this review to let others know about my experience.

Best sellers return year after year, but there are lots of newcomers at every edition as well. This fair seems to cater to an older crowd, partly because everything is quite pricey, plus, some of the designs in terms of home decor and fashion aren't appropriate for all age groups. However, if you venture off into the gourmet food area, this is where you can find some of the more universally pleasing gift ideas. You'll be able to sample all kinds of fine goodies, like duck pâté, cheeses, nougat, chocolates, macarons, ciders and wine. What I really love is the free entry and convenience of location. I tried on a lot of beautiful dresses and tops, and settled on three dresses, a tank top, and a sweater. I could have easily bought more, but my wallet limited that. The women in the store were amazing, courteous, and even great with my daughter. They brought me tea and suggestions based on what I had tried on already. They even had a dollhouse for my daughter to play with to keep her happily occupied while I tried on clothes. So, definitely three cheers to Poeme. I was psyched when they opened a store next to my company's office in NY, but bummed to discover they didn't have a kids selection. While in Montreal I was determined to find a Joe Fresh with a kids department, especially since the regular womans clothing won't fit my big belly these days. Joe- us pregnos would love a maternity line! This Joe Fresh isn't in the supermarket, but has it's own store connected to it. Personally I like that better since it seems a bit strange to me to shop for clothes while shopping for groceries. It's a beautiful space and most importantly they have a HUGE kids selection. I had only about 45 minutes until I had to leave for the airport (I literally was rolling my suitcase around the store) and filled my arms with tons of clothes for my little girl at home, as well as my baby boy on the way. Thank goodness I had just had my gender revealing ultrasound just days before stepping into this Joe Fresh. The total came to about $300 for what seemed was an entire fall/winter wardrobe for both kids. I had a bit of a paranoid moment when my VISA didn't go thru and they don't take AMEX. Canada doesn't seem to want to take my money! Fortunately, my Canadian coworker came thru for me and put the clothes on her credit card...and I wrote her a check. I'm still not sure how I fit all the new clothes in my suitcase, but it helps that clothes for toddlers and newborns are extremely small. Visiting this store was one of the highlights of my fabulous weekend in Montreal. I found the inside quite dark. I love how big the changing rooms are though and there's never many people shopping at once, sales girls don't hassle you so you can browse through at your own pace. Joe Fresh has some really colorful and fashionable designs however in the past couple years I've noticed a drastic change in the quality of their clothing. The fabrics are too thin and cheap looking. They used to have basic tees and tank tops that would withstand many washes but now they get stretched out too easily and don't seem to last. The styles and prices remind me of H&M, only, the fit is a little too loose and not made for the tall and thin. Pants are always short for me. My favorite items are from their sleepwear and lounge collection, and I particularly like their clearance aisle - you can always find nice pieces for less than 10 bucks. My bf got a pair of watermelon red cargo shorts for 7$ and I got pjs for 5$. What a steal!
