This groovy taco place is worth a visit. Sitting on the hillside this tiny place has a surprisingly nice view and great tacos. The service is exceptional. Our server (Ilya?) was genuinely friendly and attentive. So far everyone here seems to be very nice. The beef birria tacos were very good, the beef was cooked really well and marinated wonderfully but it just needed some lemons on the side. The taco shells were pretty crunchy so the texture of soft inside and crunchy outside was amazing. The tacos were served the same time Habanero Lime Fried Chicken Bites, and we ate the tacos before trying the chicken bites so the chicken ended up being very soggy because of the sauce they sprinkled on top. So the chicken bites weren't the best for us. They looked really crispy but were very disappointing, so I wish they served the chicken bites before the tacos since they are appetizers, or maybe even warned us about the chicken becoming soggy if left too long. We would not recommend the churros at all. I'm a huge fan of churros and was looking forward to these but they were not good. The churros themselves were okay, if anything a bit too chocolate-y and rich. There was a white cream dip on the side which would have been a great balance to the rich chocolate of the churros. However, the dip was tart and tasted a bit like sour cream for some reason and was generally not good. The churros were still very chocolate-y but they could have been redeemed if the cream dip was made well. Overall, we only enjoyed only 1/3 of what we ordered. read more

Costa Del Sol was not on our list of restaurants to check out while visiting Powell River, but it turned out to be the best meal we had! The Verde Fresco non alcoholic cocktail was the highlight of our meal followed closely by the Poblanos Fritos and the variety of tacos. Very cute patio with a great view of the Strait of Georgia. What a great little gem tucked away in Powell River! The vibe here is amazing and the staff are wonderful. I love that they've made dining domes and their outside functional with cozy seating and a fire place for the Fall/Winter months. The restaurant inside is very small but adds to the charm overall. Kind of feels like you've just walked into someone's house. The servers were lovely and fun to chat with asking us where we're from etc what our plans are and even gave suggestions on what to do! We ordered margaritas and they were really tasty! Loved that they weren't just packed with ice like many places do. We got the fried poblano peppers to start which were sooo tasty, the coating was thick and crunchy which actually worked really nicely with the aioli they drizzled on top. For mains we got the fish tacos and prawn tacos. The fish tacos are HUGE!!! I ended up cutting them in half and splitting with my boyfriend since they were so big. Delicious tho! We also really liked the seasoning on the prawns. If you ever find yourself in Powell River, this restaurant is a must try! read more

Coastal Del Sol is a super cute Mexican restaurant located right near the water, offering plenty of out door seating to take in the beautiful views. We sat in the front patio on a beautiful day. A bit chilly but get their homemade hit sauce to warm you up. I ordered their veggie burrito (Yams, Seasoned Rice & Black Beans, Pico de Gallo, Avocado, Cabbage, Cilantro, Queso Mixto, Chipotle Aioli). The burrito is packed full, nicely grilled, and huge. A lot of yams and not enough sauce for me (but it comes with salsa verde and hot sauce). Prices are average for the area and service Was exceptional! We have had takeaway from here a few times but today we went in and sat in their lovely courtyard. There were six of us and we all were very happy with our meals. Their drink special was a fresh lemonade fresh strawberry margarita. Some of us had the alcoholic version and some the non alcoholic and it was delicious. The food was superb. We shared the deep fried poblanos - a little bit unhealthy but really tasty. For mains I had the taco salad (saving room for dessert), three of us had the yam tacos and one had the maverick tacos. We were all happy. We definitely suggest saving room for the key lime pie. OMG. SOOO good. And on another note, being a bit of a fussy coffee drinker - their coffee was really REALLY good. So good I had a few cups which might mean I don't sleep tonight. We would highly recommend. read more

The delightfully bright building and patio beckon you to come in and although the inside isn't huge, they keep people moving though and do offer outdoor options. The yam fries are sweet and plump- definitely recommend, as well as the fried poblanos which were a little like a light poutine with toppings on them. This tiny restaurant serves up some very tasty Latin American grub. Be sure to check out their fantastic margaritas to go along with the requisite order of tortilla chips and fresh salsa. My pulled pork burrito had a nice sauce, but suffered from a little too much white rice bulking it up. Others in our party thought the chicken enchiladas were very good, and the accompanying rice pilaf was excellent. We lucked out and were able to share their "famous" key lime pie for dessert, not to be missed if you're a fan of citrus custard pies. Reasonable prices and friendly service have made this a popular Powell River destination for good reason. read more

I sat out front and watched the world go by while sipping on my lime marg - which lacked both lime flavour and tequila punch but hey, it was still a marg - lol. This place was probably one of my favourite places to go, but now is gone so far downhill over the last year I question ever going back. My favourite dish is the Jambalaya. It Used to have bacon, prawns, chicken, chorizo, now mostly just chicken with no prawns or bacon, and barley any chorizo. Portion sizes have gotten smaller for $17.50. This little gem was recommended to me by a coworker. Located by the river, this restaurant resembles a old house with a patio that is overgrown with shrubs and even a tree. The vibe was nice with Mexican music playing and I was seated on the patio quickly (arrived at around 8pm). I ordered the fish tacos (comes as a set of two). These looked good and tasted fresh. They were a little bland but asking for salsa fixed that. They actually have two kinds of salsa which i was not expecting. Both were spicy and delicious. The downside was the service. The time it took to order and get my food was a bit long. I understand that the place was busy and I can understand why but the wait annoyed me. I ended up ordering the maverick (tacos with beef, chorizo and bacon) afterwards because fish tacos didn't really fill me. Bonus points for the ambiance but don't come if you're starving. read more

This restaurant is amazing! Starting when we sat down at our unique outdoor table, I knew we were in for a treat. The blanket they had for our legs was thoughtful since today was overcast and damp, a perfect northwest day. We definitely were enjoying the Latin atmosphere when the nice waitress brought out our mind-blowing food. This was definitely some of the best Mexican food I have ever eaten! Every part, from appetizer to main course, to sampling my partner's main course, was absolutely amazing. I heavily regret not trying the South American Flan for dessert. I'm sure nothing on this menu is bad. This is one place I will check out next time I'm in Powell River for sure! The service was so fast that my partner didn't even notice her and thought our cutlery and drinks appeared by magic. I highly recommend the horchata to quench your thirst. Ask for a straw to stir up the spices on the bottom as you drink. read more

I went to this place based on a local review, and i wasn't disappointed. Although it was just my husband and myself, it's definitely suited to families with small kids. It's small, with an even smaller patio, but the food is excellent. This is not "Mexican" but "Latin" cuisine. The difference is you won't find heavy cheese and refried beans here -- just the subtle Latin flavors. I had the pollo enchiladas and they were served with a Latin style rice mixed with a sprinking of black beans. My husband had the shrimp tacos, which looked yummy (he confirmed that). It's a place where you can go away full but not overstuffed (like at "American - Mexican" restaurants. The only down side is that the food is a bit slow in coming, but that's because they make each dish fresh. It's a favorite local hangout and one of the better restaurants in Powell River. read more

Tortillas a little hard, flavours a little bland, but they were fresh and tasty looking. Hubby had the chili rellenos. Portion size was smaller than expected for $14.25. Super spicy and unfortunately led to indigestion the next day. Value 3/5: Okay. Ambiance 4/5: A darling little restaurant with a cute patio overlooking the water. Service 4/5: Friendly and accommodating. Overall 2/5: An otherwise cute little place for lunch or dinner, but food quality pulls it down bigtime. read more

A sweet little restaurant. We ate outside on a lovely sunny day. We had a nice hibiscus tea. The prawn tacos were delicious, with a light pico de gallo. The mole on the enchiladas was excellent.
